Despite its notoriety, Assassin's Creed: Unity is an amazing game. It is by far one of my top favorite AC games and I wish to show the good side of the game.
Here we just have a random side quest where we attempt to recruit labored ladies to march on and be a part of the revolution. Afterwards, we are tasked with sabotaging cannons commandeered by royalist to the kingdom.
In addition for those who read descriptions, I am also testing out a different video format. This video is rendered in 1080p but at a 21:9 aspect ratio. (2560x1080). My native playing experience is at this aspect ratio so I thought I'd experiment and see the results.
I hope you enjoy this small offering I have of what hopefully gives you at least a second thought towards the hate that Unity has received. (I am well aware the game had a rocky launch, but that shouldn't bury this passionate experience many years after the fact.)

I feel you blatty this game had so much potential but it's a shame the developers only cared about money and not capturing the true beauty of the game

a beauty that was glimpsed in the first two and a half games before AC's Kojima left Ubisoft for creative directing freedom. it's interesting to spot the patterns show up in subsequent games after his departure

Thanks Frenchy, it is cool to see people understand what perhaps what was hidden deep below the layers of corporate meddling. I think the actual creators of the game wanted to show the true beauty but the Publisher themselves seeked only $$$

Are you referring to Patrice? I agree his creative direction is what made AC initially special, I do not believe it has ever reached that level again but I appreciate Unity's high risk of trying to rebuild the series.

Wrong. It's not the Developpers that wanted money. It's the Publisher and owning company. You think game developpers LIKE to see their hard work come out to be a pile of shit? Of course not, if it were up to them, they'd make one hell of a better game. Ubisoft is a horrible company game development-wise. A very rich horrible company.

killing 5 people in a gigantic crowd of people and nobody notices. even with hidden blade.. bold move?

The blended kill is one of my favorites in this game. If you are blended in a crowd, you can low profile kill someone as long as you did it within the blend. Certainly a risky but fun way!

may i get a written clarification? because the gameplay shown eluded to many things, and none of them to your favor- but before i nitpick and point fingers at the game i have never played. i really want you to indulge me in what this game represents to you, i really respect you so no matter what you say, positive and negatives, i will consider it all the highest of opinionated truths, so help my confusion. is this game to you good? in which aspects? is it the best in the AC series considering all other games in account? should this game be particularly praised for just being "harmless fun" or "expansive and detailed" or am i truly missing the point of this video. i want to talk like this in private messages, but if you feel fine replying here with potential interruptions, your call. i really want to talk about this with you blatty

Happy to discuss my friend, but perhaps we can start here public so others can join in as well. However we can move to private chat if it becomes too in-depth! Bear in mind that I do not aim to convince anyone but only to make them at least take a second glance at the game's infamy. I am well aware the game is regarded as a failure and it most certainly has merit to be deserving of such an award. For me personally, I like games that are crude, rough around the edges, but have a lot of passion in the underlying layers. This is coming from someone who loves Velvet Assassin even though the game is more or less terrible as far as polish and gameplay goes. For Unity, I love that you are not a super hero. You cannot take on 20+ guards and you have limited stealth abilities. The moves are believable too, the low profile kills are subtle and can be done without detection if you are blended with the crowd. I think Unity tries to use social stealth a bit more than most Creed games. It brings me back to a time of AC1, which is also a top game for me. As far as what games I am comparing against, I have played AC, AC2, ACB, ACR, AC3, AC4, and now ACU. With this in mind, it is safe to say I am not blinded by pretty visuals but the core experience of this game. Let's keep it at that for now and you can mention your thoughts!

looks like the legendary man behind those hitman lps is alive and well, so glad to see your response reflect and deflect my worries and curiosities. i really want to talk and gush about the unfinished masterpiece that is Assassin's Creed 1, being the creative landmark of Patrice Desilets career -2and B being expansions or redos-, the same man that single handedly brought the Prince of Persia to proper 3D and invented the instant backward time travel that made The Sands of Time so famous for. but that is't his only uncredited creation that fuels my appreciation for him , his AC Trilogy goes to show a long way through how you can mesh so many aspects and genres into a game, while keeping a meaningful story going, before it is reinterpreted by several other people time and time again.........and somehow still being enjoyable according to newer game fans like yourself. but daily i cannot help but always shrug in rage whenever someone blames the franchise of being bad on arrival by ignoring all the innovations that the first two games brought to the game developing table. how could GTAV 's side quests be structured without AC1's optional investigation missions?!? how could BOTW'S Sheikah Towers be such enjoyable vertical slices of level design without ACB's own Borgia Tower Systems?!? were would games like Shadow of Mordor and Batman Arkham City be without Assassins Creed 2? *how in the absolute world can someone praise Prince of Persia's parkour mechanics while negating AC's , **_when it was made by the same man?!_* my objective now is to someday write a script about this man's career to help his upcoming games, Ancestors The Human Kind Odyssey and Amsterdam 1666, and bring AC's reputation out of the grinder. maybe i'll sell it to a game essayer or edit one myself somehow, but i'm constantly absorbing all information on this man's career solely because of his few games, and it is monumental that i learn the ways of how people can still like AC after being so altered from it's initial potential. aware or unaware of Desilets's influence. i personally had my own falling out with the series while being unaware of Desilets existence playing Revelations, it's misguided sense of tribute disguised to kill off all original characters and plotlines originally made by Patrice(Ezio,Altair,16 and eventually Desmond), so new ones could be made, Rogue's plot is practically AC3 fanservice and Syndicate is like a companion piece expansion pack that was made with Unity's bare fleshy bones. But after reevaluating AC3 as the "black sheep" of the franchise after being aware of Desilets, i couldn't help but fall in some sort of abusive relationship love with it. bringing cancelled concepts from AC1 back to starking life! like obstacle vaulting and animal hunting, not to mention the implementation of a automatic descent system by pressing R1 and circle instead of X, a mechanic exclusive to AI for over 4 games now being accessible to the player's own control. a much needed technique from players that spent hours in the first games attempting to get down from tall buildings discreetly without leaping 2 feet off to a pile of npcs. and also the fact of how the Homestead Missions are such a testament that some of the most enjoyable and charming content in a game, can be completely optional and devoid of absolute urgency. to me everything made after Brotherhood, and it's final mission , is corporate fluff, trying to reenact all of Desilets's motifs, every noticeable change can be as subtle as how rooftop level design changed, to the literal plot deviations. so i hope we'll be able to talk more in-depth about the good things in AC and it's Kojima, while acknowledging the deliberate changes made to appeal to broader audiences unaware of it's roots. btw , i may have become a crazy cat lady equivalent of a AC apologist.
