Answering a decade too late. The game was supposed to be called Edge of Darkness but apparently there was a series by that name around the same time, so at the last minute they changed it to Blade of Darkness.
Everything that happened to you in the game lead you to this. You're used to locate enemies with the sound they make? The sound design of this level is made to make you feel paranoid. You're used to turn of the torches with water arrow? Here are some water arrows at the begining of the level. Hope that will help. (It won't.) You're used to knock off the enemies? Of course you can still do it. Will you? Even in the level itself, when you thing you've figured it out and feel safe by the absence of ennemies... You see something. And it sees you as well.
The petrification only works if an enemy has a circle under the stone icon. Otherwise, it won't work at all. Same with poison and the green skull, and curse with the evil-looking eyes.
Speaking of hi res textures (and yeah I realise I'm posting this like 10 years after you played this game) but I totally recommend trying out Shadowman Remastered. Loads of cut content restored, easily the best remaster ever. Well worth a Let's Play!
I'm so sad, to this day, that a lot of people hated this game and refunded it before ever playing this mission. You can tell that devs DID care and put a lot of effort into this game, they were just rushed on many times, old captain crunch time was involved and something with a lot of potential bit the dust as a result. Great vid!
I share your love for this game. I discovered it a long time ago (not in 2001 for sure, but maybe around 2010 and then replayed it after awhile) It's hard to explain why this game is (still) really good; for some inexplicable reason it's interesting to play Severance and with a lot of modern games I want to delete them after 20 minutes (don't get me wrong - there's a lot to do in those games, but most of it seems like busywork) For anyone who is debating whether or not to play it I can suggest trying it out and see for yourself, this one might surprise you.
Cool Let's play! I will slowly work my way through your other Castlevania series, which I've never played or watched. I know it's been a while since you've posted new content, but I just wanted to let you know that I still enjoy your content very much!
Best moment in entire game That moment and the orphanage from Deadly Shadows is for me the best levels in the entire Thief series. One of the best and creepiest mini horrors ever
this game is basically dark souls before dark souls / demon souls. this game also released the same year as Gothic 1. in my opinion it beats both RUNE (2000) and Gothic 1 (2001) in every single way.
You don't actually need to dress up as the butler to poison Allistair. You can poison the wine and the butler will bring it to him. You can also get past the showering lady if you time it right as bends to wash her leg.
These were my favorite missions back when i played this game at release. The setting, atmosphere and soundtrack were just so cool. And if you are wondering why the AI and bugs did not bother me it's because every single mission always ended in a bloodbath for me in this game so this was just business as usual only now i was shooting techno ninjas. The trial and error nature of Hitman really didn't and still doesn't appeal to me, but everything else in the games is great.
I was so happy to see this guy took the exact same approach to this misson as i did all those years ago back in highschool. A single shot through two heads *chef's kiss* magnificent
