I went to a Le Tigre concert in Boston Ma. I had never heard them before. It was some of the greatest 45 min of my life. Any group that can play that many songs that quickly while jumping the whole time is alright in my book.
Directed by Elisabeth Subrin who also did a great re-creation of a documentary about Sulamith Firestone (American feminist artist-writer-activist, and best known for writing The Dialectic of Sex)
the first time i saw this video was at a le tigre concert in '05. it made me LOL. why has no one commented on how well made this video is? almost nothing in this video is sexually explicit --it's just the viewer's dirty minds. HA! that's awesome.
this is the perfect place for comments about le tigre. What's wrong with disagreeing? Do you think le tigre fans are so week minded that they can't handle reading new Idea's? I have more faith in them then that. In what way am I being sexist?
I had fun reading the debate on this video while listening to this song in loop. Hey, after all I'm a 22 years old heterosexual man who is also a fan of Le tigre music.I guess that makes me a pussy if I follow Soulinit's thinking... I'm a feminist and I'm proud to say it. Equal rights are not just about laws, it's about how people perceive each others. It is a fact that women are often treated unequally. You don't have to be a woman to see that, if you don't, you're just denying.
You are correct, technically canada is a "constitutional monarchy". But I meant to contrast canada and the UK with america(which is a republic, with the rights of the minority ensrined in the constitution and not up for debate). Canada has "the charter of rights and freedoms" but it a much more luke warm document then the bill of rights or constitution.
Sexuality in everyday objects...reminds me of salvador dali's work...actually to be more precise dali reminded me of this video, I saw his moma exhibit right after this video.
soulinite: Feminism is not only the belief that women should be equal to men under the law, but also the belief that women should be equal to men in society, pay, and politics.
"Our differences even out." She's right. Yes, we may live in a specialist society, but that doesn't mean men are superior. The male "superiority" comes from a skewed power structure which is favoured toward men, still. There are also biased stereotypical sex-roles which tell boys to be tough, aggressive and inquisitive and girls to be dainty, cute and play stupid. Also, I find many female comedians to be very funny, Sarah Silverman, Amy Poeller, Tina Fey, ect.
As a canadian I live in a true democracy. You are correct however in that america is a republic not a true democracy with the rights of the individual enshrined in the constitution.
Uh huh. Got to, wanna, got to, wanna. Raise your hand. Raise your voice. Raise your head up from the desk. Look who's here. Well well well. Guess it's time. For show and tell. Well what do you like and what do you need? How should I act and who should I be? Cuz I got it. I'm gonna give it to you. And you know it. What where when how when who? I'm gonna give you the answer tonight. Gonna give you the answer anytime, that's right. Well I don't wanna take it slow. So tell me now I got to go cuz I got it. I'm gonna give it to you. And you know it. What where when how when who? Or should I supersize it supervise it supersize it oh yeah Or should I supersize it suervise it supersize it oh yeah Or should I supersize it supervise it supersize it oh yeah Or should I supersize it supervise it supersize it oh yeah. Raise your hand. Raise your voice. Raise your head. Up from the desk. Look who's here. Well well well. Guess it's time. For show and tell. Got to, wanna, got to, wanna. Oh what should I do and where should we go? What should I bring? I think you know that I've got it. I'm gonna give it to you. And you know it. What where when how when who?
It's not just the law! As a matter of fact, legislation would do nothing. As a matter of fact, the 14th amendment to the US constitution gave everyone ("excluding Indians not taxed") the right to vote, regardless of race. But, uh, that wasn't the reality. Law and how things actually work are two different things.
"Le Tigre doesn't kill anyone or ruin anyone's self esteem". Unlike those evil fashion magazines that you choose to buy every week... but only because the patrichary makes you.
@xavrock Funny. An ex today was telling me I have horrible taste in music based upon what his tastes are. I wish I had seen this earlier because those are the best words ever.
Again, you posted a comment in responce to my comment and so are in no possition to call anyone else a troll. Perhaps projection isn't bullshit after all.
Looove this video... Lol soulinite you do have a point about the majority of Le Tigre fans being middle/upper class white girls with a liberal arts education (or poncy indie boys) but that's not true for all of us! Ye of little faith, I am slavic trash from a low socio-economic background and have friends into them from a variety of background. Although I am guilty of the liberal arts education lol...:) x
Yeah, I support the separation of people into groups according to their sex organs in ways that arent relevant to their sex organs as well! No tampons or dresses for men! No jockstraps or jobs for women! Viva la revolution!
funny thing about what you're saying i just thought it was about the worst video ever. even after i read the comments and found out that it was supposed to make people think of something dirty, the only part i saw that was with the scissors
Yap yap. Pfft... too easy. Liz lemon trying to get out of jury duty by showing up in a princess leia costume reading a playgirl mag and using the excuse of 'I don't really think it's fair for me to be on a jury, because I can read minds.'
Star wars stuff... Whatever - I only know the basics. That was Jason's thing. Only liked the 3 original ones though. I don't know. Some hologram code in a droid or something? Nobody knoooows.
