I still listen to this medley a lot! It's so good! This was such a treat. Two legendary voices coming together!! I hope they'd have more duets soon. Or better yet, a concert together?? I wish. Also, I agree that when Lea closes her eyes it's not distracting. It doesn't take you away from the moment.
Regine is fantastic; I adore her. But Lea is as well. They are all different kinds of great in their own worlds and leagues. Stop comparing and pitting them against each other because in real life, these two legends, these two icons, are great friends who support, respect, and admire each other.

Please don’t get too caught up with the inevitable comment war of “Regine is superior” and “Lea is superior.” Let’s just say they both have incredibly loyal and passionate fans and some of us can appreciate both of them without putting down the other.
Exactly! Love them both in different ways. I prefer to listen to Lea for reasons distinct to myself and there's no downplaying Regine in that because I recognize the fact that she's an incredible singer.
Barbara Streisand is one of Regine’s main influences. Every time she sings theater songs she usually sings like Barbara, eal that vibrato 😀. And Lea grew up in the treater stage and has certainly learned that everywhere she gies could be her stage. :)
Magnificent collaboration. They recorded the song separately. Lea recorded it first and then Regine sang over the recording. Nonetheless, their work feels connected together.
Why do people ALWAYS compare these two living legends and keep pitting them against each other? They are both Filipinos who brought so much honor to the country. Yes, Regine is great and has a great influence in music in the country, but so is Lea. Lea, on the other hand, crossed oceans, not only to successfully represent fellow Filipinos and put the country on the map, but also opened up the doors for a lot of Asian artists. She paved the way for many people internationally, just like Regine paved the way locally, for the younger generations of singers. Regine is NOT better than Lea, and Lea is NOT better than Regine. They are EQUALLY great, EQUALLY gifted, EQUALLY talented, EQUALLY hardworking, EQUALLY influential and most importantly, they EQUALLY brought and continue to bring, honor to the Philippines. They are queens in their own worlds, in their own leagues. Both living legends, both icons. They deeply respect and adore each other, which is why Regine asked her specifically to guest on her 50th birthday. Which is why Lea, despite of her busy schedule during lockdown, said yes to Regine's request. So please, stop disrespecting these amazing artists because it is embarrassing and truly pathetic. Let's just enjoy their magnificent talent, and enjoy this rare duet performance.
Ms. Lea Salonga is just using earphones’ mic but sounded flawless and superb!!! HER VOICE IS INCOMPARABLE! No one in the PH has reached what she has achieved yet. She remained humble through the years 🙌✨
I think Lea, just like Regine, is not really used to perform is a studio setting. I mean, if you are on stage, naturally it is easier to open your eyes and act as if you are talking to the audience. But when you are performing in front of the camera, you have to pretend or imagine talking to the person you are singing for and it is easier to do that if you close your eyes. Singing with eyes close is actually common in studio recording.
Regine's biggest idol is Barbra Streisand. She actually did a concert when she was younger that's also a tribute to and for Barbra Streisand,which was entitled "Songbird Sings Streisand". Try her performance there of A Piece of Sky wherein she was wearing a white gown. That is the highest version. Regine really did great there. Thanks!
The song "What I Did For Love" from A CHORUS LINE. The setting of the show is an audition for the chorus of a Broadway show - looking for 8 dancers. The song comes after one of the dancers gets hurt during the audition and is carried off. The director leading the auditions asks the rest of the dancers, "What would you do if you couldn't dance any longer?" I never get tired of listening to Lea and Regine singing together. Hoping VERY hard for a full concert with the two of them. Just a reminder, Regine and Lea both guested at a Sarah Geronimo concert in 2013. The trio did a Barbra Streisand medley. Lea is definitely a masterful vocalist. The GOAT? Nope. DEFINITELY NOT. I'd rather listen to Streisand who is definitely a POWERFUL and MASTERFUL VOCALIST and OFCOURSE ONE OF THE GREATs OF ALL TIME not just in BROADWAY but even in POP MUSIC. Yeah Lea never misses a note but gives us a so so performance. She is inspiring YES. But GOAT? Again nope. 🤣🤣🤣
Lea is one of the most, if not the most, internationally-acclaimed Filipino singers, yet she remains very humble. Kung humble ang idol, humble din ang fans. 💙
Because that was the polite and professional way to do it. She had asked Lea to be her special guest, of course she wouldn't outshine her. She didn't have to. She has so much respect for Lea and she doesn't have anything to prove, same for Lea. They are BOTH talented. No matter what anyone says, no one can deny the fact that Lea has achieved so much. Nothing else to prove, same as Regine. They have both proven their worth.
The statement of Lea not being afraid is actually incorrect. You can have Lea sing one song 100x and she will sing it exactly how she sang it originally. Lea is wonderful but she is predictable. You already know how the song will sound. Don’t get me wrong coz she sounds great considering this genre is her territory. Regine on the other hand is the one who is not afraid. She is not formally trained to sing musical pieces but she is able to deliver just how she does with Power Ballad, Jazz or Rock. She always takes risks that’s why her live performances are always way better than her studio recordings. You can have Regine sing one song 100x & she will give you 100 different versions. This is the same thing that she said during an interview. She is not fit for musicals because she easily gets bored with repetitions and predictability. She said that she possibly will just be singing adlibs & runs if she performs in a musical after just few nights.
With respect you don’t know either way! My belief is that Lea pushed herself here to try new vocal things! She is brave in her acting and vocal choices. Yes, she prepares and knows how she wants to deliver the best vocal possible but that’s a part of being a professional especially in musical theatre. Regine is amazing too and yes she may be able to ad lib more. That’s her thing. They approach their art form from different directions and both are valid. Thanks for your feedback xx
@@nowthen.4363 I’ve heard Lea sing this song in the past & this is exactly how she did it.. Being not afraid means taking risks & clearly that’s not her thing.. Her modulations, vocal placements and dynamics are too calculated.. She is SUPERB yet predictable.. Regine has sung this multiple times as well & this is her most “tamed” version because she needed to adjust to Lea.. Between the two, considering their own sucesses, it is only Regine who has the capability to adjust.. This is very evident here and specially during their first ever collab in Sarah Geronimo’s concert.
Regine's voice is incomparable, a league on it's own. Leah's is something you hear ordinarily from day to day but Regine is a hard to find gem. Many can belt but not like hers oozing with power, clarity and ease. She'll always be an icon in her country, praised by her countrymen as the uktimate diva simply because no one in the wolrd can sing like her.
Both very different performers!! Both incredible in their own way. But the way Lea can convey a story and character is exceptional. My opinion. But yes I love Regine! Her voice is sensational xx
In their dear country, Regine dominates storytelling, and powerhouse not more so the way Leah brings on broadway. Regine as per her countrymen, dominates their country's music industry where young people get inspiration from, But I respect people who loves broadway.
I have heard a lot in the Philippines. Who has equalled Lea? So far, none. Only rabid fans of others try to put her down. I tell you, even these idols of yours/others are in awe of Lea.
I know you guys are at Lea Salonga fans, but you really didn’t have a whole lot to say about Regine Velasquez in this video and that was disappointing to me.
