I think Christina is an amazing singer wiyh a powerful voice but I don't think anyone can be compared to Lea, lea actually gives me goosebumps which hardly ever happens
of course Lea crush almost everyone when it comes to broadway style, she's a master of that. But Christina can sing many genres better than Lea. Christina has only 2 or 3 good performance of this song haha
This song should have won an Oscar. The melody and lyrics are sooo rich and before it brings you to heights, Disney cut it short! Xtina saw the potential of the song, sang the long version and got a Grammy. Bad decision Disney!

Xander Doegreat - From what I've read, she's originally casted as singing and speaking voice but later replaced by ming na for the speaking role because her voice is too soft to be a chinese warrior. You may google it if you want.
aristotel pichay No. Disney was already done with the speaking part before they decided to give her songs to sing. Ming Na couldn’t sing, so Disney had to cast another performer.
I love the movie and especially this song and regrettably only found out she is the voice of the movie in the last couple years. I agree that there seem to be a "conspiracy" to misinform the public who the original performer of this song. She is the original performer and personally I think she did some much better.
Yeah, the movie was made and released before the version of Cristina came out and became popular. That means, Lea's version was recorded first. That makes her the first to sing and record it.
That's what I love about Lea, she sings both the studio and live versions with no difference at all. The quality and the emotions she put on each version are both winners to me. Way to go Lea!
I had goosebumps with this song when I took my son to see this in the pictures (many years ago!!) Had no idea that Christina didn't sing the film version but then that would be why there was no more goosebumps, til tonight! Love Christina but Lea Salonga gets my vote when it comes to this song!! :-)

Most of the time when i listen to unfamiliar songs i always end up googling the lyrics but when i first watched the mulan movie and hear this song "reflection...i was carried away and got emotional with the context of the lyrics coz it was so beautiful so i googled the singer not the song lyrics.😍

Mulan will always be Lea S. The emotions, gonna bring tears, of joy and sadness.. Christina A, she wants to be heard so all she could do is shout out loud from her lungs, no emotional connection to Mulan at all.
This version has heart. Tons of heart! I can feel that she is communicating something meaningful and sincere. I can actually understand her words and her emotions. I've heard the C.Aguilera version, and it is certainly impressive too. But much more about power, and slamming the high notes. The Aguilera version seems more about "show" while this one is about heartfelt introspection and feelings. Disney should have gotten behind Lea's version 100%.

The Cursed I dont think Philippines can support Disneyland. We need a bigger tourism and economy. Look France is the most visited country in the World but The Disneyland Paris Resort has been a failure in Attendance since it opened in 1992 , the park have 75,000 capacity in the Park but the average attendance of the everyday was only about 20,000-24,000 every weekdays, 25,000-30,000 every weekends which means loss a lot money unlike the First and Original Disneyland Resort in California and the 2nd park of Disney the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista in Florida and the park is always crowded everyday. Philippines need a better tourism promotions and much needed is a better economy.
The Cursed Yes I know but building and planning will took over 10-15 years Disneyland. In 2025-2030 Philippines can support Disneyland Resort. Our Country already have a reserved land for Disneyland Resort nor World in Clark (Its a about a size of Walt Disney World in Florida and we already sent a letter to Walt Disney Resort and Parks. So if WDRP announced a Disneyland for Philippines I think we can support a 2 Disney Parks (for example Disneyland Resort in California it can support 2 Parks (Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom (1955) and Disney California Adventure (2001)). Also 2-3 Hotels and resorts, and 1 shopping district (Downtown Disney).
Comparing Lea to Christina is like comparing Whitney to Madonna. Not only it does not work, but also it is just an insult. Pure talent does not have to take clothes off and do stupid things to get attention and make money. For those of you who does not know who Lea Salonga is, I highly recommend that you do some search and listen to her sing on youtube. Some of you might be pleasantly surprised and some who think Christina is the best singer will not get it. lol She is an accomplished theater singer, and in that world, singing really counts. One may not say that about the singing ability of Christina or Madonna. Madonna is a great entertainer. Christina sounds very uncomfortable with very forced voice and annoying nasal sound. Yuck!!!
What a ridiculous comparison, Aguilera to Madonna, what a joke. She's not called the greatest singer of her generation for nothing. I prefer Lea's version of this song and she is incredible but when Aguilera is on point she also is incredible. We don't have to compare or choose.
Mrwhitney4e agree. Lea gets her singing prowess, was honed from childhood as stage theater student at repertory philippines having starred in various stage plays. As a child, she was, already a star in"anne".

I actually dislike Aguilera's version. Songs don't always have to be ornamented with melismas. Lea's voice is pure, clear and hits all the right notes at the right time. In this performance she did stuff the second verse a smidgey, but no biggie
I don't agree. I found her voice more compatible to Mulan. Stronger than the voice of Christina. Christina voice is too Americanised, Not suitable for Mulan. But that's my opinion.,
