Kate Winslet's performance not only won her award for her vulnerability but has more inner depth too compare to all the other nominated performance and that's why extremely Depthful performances more often wins no matter who they compete against.
Nah anya was good but nothing compared to Kate let’s be real. Kate is a much more seasoned and dimensional actress. Though I do see anya winning in the future.
Kate is one of the very few actresses that expresses her gratitude to this amount, where it’s genuine and obvious, and does not give an emotionless speech. You can ALWAYS tell she’s grateful. I love her so much, very well deserved ❤️
That is a woman who has won an oscar, she even won an award against Meryl Streep and winning emmy for the second time and yet that much excitement, shows how much she worked for the series. ❤
@@fishyfish6510 Because most of them started out as theater actors. Usually theater actors are better actors than actors who didn't started out from theater, that's what Brits are best at. Look at Mark Rylance or Jeremy Irons or Daniel Day Lewis or Carey Mulligan for example, they all started out as theater actors

Agree. Lots of people who said Anya Taylor Joy should have won don't even saw Kate in Mare of Easttown. Everyone in that category was great, but Kate's acting was just superior.
@@a.m.7286 I agree. As I've said before, the unique storyline and beautiful shots in The Queen's Gambit really elevated Anya in this role. She was good though and deserved some kind of recognition for it. Whereas Mare of Easttown has nothing much to offer in the way of an exceptional story and really is basically a whodunit in a small regular unassuming town, yet the actors, especially Kate, really delivered.
ATJ was fabulous in The Queen’s Gambit, but Kate Winslet is one of the best actresses of all time and this may have been the single greatest performance of her career. Completely deserved.

@@dreamingofthekingdom I think it’s the best performance she’s given yet-superior to ‘the Reader, Eternal Sunshine, Revolutionary Road & Mildred Pierce’. There was something so lived-in about her performance. It’s somewhat difficult to describe, in that we’ve just come to expect Winslet to be brilliant, but for her to still take my breath away with a gut-wrenching performance like ‘Mare’…that was something else.
Anya's character was an extraordinary character, while Kate's character was a realistic and relatable character like someone you see everyday which is a little more harder to convince the audience. I think that's the reason she won it.
It's almost shocking that Kate Winslet, one of the most talented and certain actresses of our time, can still carry such enthusiasm and vivacity, Winslet is a true rebel, and I love her for it.
She isn't those drama queens who say blah blah blah and act like they dont care about winning nd art is everything. Here is a woman who deserved the win, embraced it and totally is cherishing the win without being pretentious.

I think it's because she was probably doubting she could win this one. First of MoE wasn't exactly the most popular show especially with Queen's Gambit and WandaVision. Secondly, the Emmy's do not usually like to award already decorated actors especially ones with Oscars. So even though she actually deserved it, I was surprised they gave it to her.
This is the strongest category at the Emmy's in years. All 5 of these women would've been deserving. When a phenomenal performance as Aretha Franklin is the weakest of the nominees, you know it's a good year.
What impressed me most about her performance is that the character is completely different from the actress. Totally different personalities. And the way she played Mare is absolutely compelling and real.
Every moment of her on screen on "Mare" is perfection. I was reluctant to watch the show but damn she is probably the best working actor today. Sorry Meryl and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Mare of Easttown was so good. The performances were so beautiful in their restraint. I'm glad that the performers were awarded for what must have been pretty challenging work.
Kate talked about how hard learning the Philly /Delaware County accent was. I can tell the accent is real. What she did is exactly how a lot of people in the Philadelphia area talk.
This result made my night!!!! Loved Mare of Easttown so much, and Kate Winslet gave one of the best performances she's given in a long time! And she's always amazing.
Just for perspective .. this is a person who if we are talking about individual, career work could walk up on stage and drop the mic if she wanted. Majority of the actresses in the room likely grew up watching her but she still came on stage and showed nothing but gratitude, social awareness and passion after ALL of these years she put in. You can tell it is not just a paycheck for her. There is a huge difference between cocky and confident people .. take note.

AMEN! She always gives her best in everything she does and she has been one of my all time favorite for decades. But this Mare of Easttown performance has something none of her other performances had I can’t really explain it… This woman is out of this world in this series! Soooo well deserved!!
I feel the same. Been a fan ever since Sense and Sensibility and she has given sooo many amazing performances, but Mare is truly something else. It was just so real. Loved it.
Her performance in Mare of Easttown was a master class in acting and definitely up there in my books with the best of modern female performances (Jodie Foster for The Silence of the Lambs \ Meryl Streep for Sophie's Choice and Cate Blanchette for Blue Jasmine - all performances I consider to be the master classes and the best in show for modern actresses) so I am not one bit surprised that she won.
This was my favorite category of the night. All of these actresses were impeccable - extraordinary performances. I don't know how you choose among them. Kate is so gracious. Well done, ladies!
This must be one of the hardest categories ever! Literally any of them winning would be well deserved, like... ANY OF THEM. No wasted spot right here, all of them gave brilliant and nuanced performances in their shows.

Her character translation in Mare and seeing her here makes me realize how great of an actress she is. The drastic change reminds me of when Charlize Theron played Eileen Wuornos in Monster.

She puts 100% in every role she's in and I'm glad to call her my favorite actress of all time. I don't think I've ever seen her so psyched to win an award like this. I was hoping Elizabeth Olsen to win, I think she did an amazing work in Wandavision, and it was incredible watching Lizzie standed up when Kate won. But anyway congratulations

Does she do theater tho? I checked her filmography the last time she does theater work was 1994. And after that she's been focusing more on movies and television series. I don't think she's coming back to theater any time soon even for Broadway

I love her since Eternal Sunshine. She's one of those actresses that if you recommend a movie or something to me and you tell me she's in it I go "say no more, I'm sold, we're watching that".
Soooo glad she won tonight. I love all acting performances but knowing everything she did for this role and I'm not just talking about the accent. Even ensuring all the cast and young actors were included in it all and that nobody felt "more important" than anyone else. But yes just from a pure acting perspective, forgot she was Kate Winslet in his role. And for being a part of why Evan Peters and Julianne Nicholson won their Emmys tonight (because playing opposite Kate must be the most helpful acting experience ever, imagine what she gives you to react to).
Now that’s how you receive an award a magnificent speech by Kate. Her construction of speech were organized af she did not stutter. You can tell how grateful she was. Even I think she did not expect to win that? Got nervous but still was able to deliver. Although I haven’t seen her performance on “Mare of Easttwon” well I can see why. I was rooting for Anya to win she was too intimidating to watch on Queen’s Gambit the portrayal of the character was flawlessly done. If I were to pick the winner for this category I would have a hard time they were just very very talented women. I FEEL LIKE MY EXCITEMENT TYPING IS ALMOST THE SAME AS KATE EXPRESSED HER SPEECH. LMAO BUT TRULY DESERING NOMINATIONS!!! (We ain’t missing black women period)
Loved this series… I was supposed to cancel my cable but Mare of Easttown made me keep it longer than I could afford. Fabulous series. When it ended I cancelled.
