My plan for this spring is to try fily fishing for pike in my local waters here in Michigan. I'll be starting off with my 9wt St. Croix Avid. Can you provide a list of materials and lengths that you used in the video?
Interesting leader setup that I’m going to try. Question though; I feel like the swivel would cause the leader system to hinge during the casting stroke. Does this not happen or do you have to alter your cast somewhat from a regular leader system to prevent it from hinging?
Love this set up. It’s my new “go to” however I do have a question. Now that all my flies have 8” of bite guard on them, how do I store them? What do you use for fly box? I’m guessing if I have them in there current box the leader will become bent with memory. Might be a pain to try and straighten out while fishing. Curious to see your set up on storage. Thanks!
Why not use the perfection loop like we do here? Also add a drop of zap-a-gap,or super glue and that's secure enough for 53"+ pike. Leader we build out of 49 strand 40-50lbs line with a mustad size 2 or 4 fast-attach snaps. No swivels
Pogo Pike I use Vision big momma and big daddy fly lines and these have loops on either end. So indeed we loop leader into the fly line and the trace into the leader, all loop-in-loop so the only hardware is the fast-attach snap 🙂👍
