Watch me paint this Abstract Dot Art Mandala incorporating leaf printing... step by step...
This video was made to give you some inspiration to create your own personal designs or follow along with what colours and tools you have... it doesn't have to be exactly the same... make it your own... and just have fun with it... No tool sizes have been given in this video as these will depend on what size leaf you use and the shape of the leaf if you want to try this design...
Paints used in this video are Stormy (one of my favourites) and White by Global and believe it or not, Dulux Wash and Wear Paint in the colour of Grecian Gold lightened with a bit of white... all blended with Pouring Medium at a ratio of 3 parts paint and 1 part pouring medium with a touch of water... this is just a rough ratio... different paints will require different amounts... I like my paints to be nice and fluid but not too runny... everyone will have different preferences... bear in mind, I find the Dulux paint tends to be a bit more stringy to work with but love the colour range it offers... its a different feel to what I am used to... and, the paint used for the leaf print was simply thinned down white acrylic paint... if you try this, just experiment with what you have available...
For this painting, I used a stretched canvas measuring 40cms... the guidelines are drawn using a Derwent watercolour pencil for easy removal...
The Ball Stylus Dotting tools I am using in the video are from the McGill Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and the dotting rods are from Happy Dotting Company...
