I don't have a Toyota but I carry a lot of gear, I imagine the main incompatibility between leaf kits for different models of utes/pickups is the location of the bushes. Is there any reason why you couldn't take a couple of leafs of the same size or and stick them beneath your top leaf either on the primary or secondary? I've noticed some leaf packs have the same or almost the same length for some of the mid-leafs, can you add more leafs to this to stiffen the springs? If I were to do that would it be necessary to replace the shocks? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
You can stack up your own leaf pack. Ypu can do this by adding more thin leaves. The problem will most pickups is the leafsprings sit on top of the axles, and adding more leafs increases rear height. If you buy an aftermarket leaf set, the curve of the springs is altered to give a uniform height. As for shocks,if the height increases, you might need longer travel shocks.
can anyone suggest how to make a hiace commuter back ride more comfortable? I was thinking of comfort shackles bat i’m just worried that front bumper will be more prone to scratches due to lifted back…
Just a tray. If you can get A leafsprings it would give you the best unloaded ride. I would go with Foam Cell shocks and either B or A front coils also.
I'm real keen on some new springs and shocks on my ln106 bit of a hunting hack wanting more comfort on the tracks but also illuminate the hilux legendary shaggy front end what would you recommend
Hello there, question for you. So I have a set of "medium" leaf packs that spec wise say +400lb/181kg constant weight. I have a 2011 double cab Tacoma that I use for work (detailing) and occasional off roading. With a fiberglass topper, 100lb invertor, and occasionally I'll have up to 50 gallons/189L of water. Should I upgrade to a heavier pack or would this be sufficient? Thanks in advance
Hi, I've got a question, installed the comfort springs from ironman. And now I've got a driveline vibration. Tried to install the centre bearing drop kit and it didn't really help much. Any advice?
This is enlightening. Thanks! Sir what rating should I use for Ford Everest 2004?? I always drive alone but loaded full with people (6 to 7) on weekends.
This is from the product page of the leaf spring NISS047B. (0-300kg) "NOTE: Leaf springs are for a heavily loaded or built vehicle. If your Xterra is stock then you will have to remove a few leafs from the leaf pack for a better ride." I cannot find any info on which leafs to remove. for no load stock vehicle. On forums people say to remove 3rd 5th and overload leaves. Could you please give your advise?
When do we use the shackles sir? Do we need to put one after adding add a lift, or we can just choice whether add a lift or shackles would do when lifting a vehicle
@@ironman4x4philippines20 Im planning to change my suspension in my pick up. But instead of add a leaf can i use comfort shackles? Does it add more weight besring capacity?
Greetings Ironman! I have an Isuzu Dmax 2023 4x2 I bought last year and I'm still using the stock leaf springs. My question is what would be a good modification with your product I can add to my Dmax? My line of business is Bigasan so I'm carrying about 20 to 30 sacks on a daily basis which weighs 25kg a sack. What I want to do is eventually is to add a canopy in the back and have more load capacity for my rice. What product of yours that you can recommend adding to my Dmax to achieve this?
If you are loaded daily i would go with Add-A-Leaf for load. It will not give a lift and will be a bit stiff unloaded but give you excellent stability at load.
@@ironman4x4philippines20 Thank you so much for your quick reply! what if I wanted to go 25kg (1 sack) x 50 = 1,250kg on a daily baisis would you recommend Add-A-Leaf and Load-Plus? and perhaps having a Foam cell suspensions kit and UCA?
Nice info. My dealer got me 0 to 300 and its rough riding. My dads stock truck drives nicer. Can I remove a leaf?. It sits much higher in the hear. Dorsnt seem to lower with 150kg on jt
This is a very informative video. Sir I am new to cars and planning to buy an SUV (Montero Gen 3.5) for both family use and a little help in our small business. We usually go out once a month to pickup stuff from around 500-600 kgs, but that doesn't include passengers, so probably around 800kgs or even more. My concern is do we even need to upgrade parts like leaf springs, shocks, and suspension of the SUV given that scenario? If so, what will be the negative sides. We were originally eyeing on a Strada, however given the size of our family we also wanted one that can carry more people so we thought of Montero. Any reply sir I will greatly appreciate. Thank you and more power to your channel.
The montero runs rear coils sir. I think it will be a bit overloaded at 500 to 600 kgs. We can uprade it to carry more load, but it will be a bit stiff and tall at the rear without load.
@@ironman4x4philippines20 Thank you for your response. I just realized that yes it uses coils at back, thanks for pointing that out and for correcting me sir. So basically it is possible, but will feel and look akward. I wonder if you guys have already done that to an SUV before? Is it bad for the SUV to have that? Driver/passenger wise we can adjust. Thanks sir really appreciate it.
I have a 2" lifted pickup truck with shackles at the rear. Will the ride comfort improve if I change it to ironman add a leaf? Also, can I do the ironman add leaf without removing one leaf from the stock leafspring? Thanks
Yes you can go Ironman 4x4 AddALeaf. Also, we only remove one rear thick overload (auxillary) leaf when the client wants to lower the rear a bit. Removing one doesnt improve the ride whatsoever. We will need to re-install your stock shackles though.
@@ironman4x4philippines20 But if I choose to retain the stock rear thick overload (auxillary) leaf, together with this Ironman AddALeaf, will it give me a better ride comfort overall, compared to my current lift setup with extended shackles? Thank you, sir.

Im moving on from a montero to a hilux and im very concerned about the hard ride in the back as thats what pickups are know for.. would the A spring solve my concerns?

Sir I have a question, does the leaf spring and coil spring has a difference when it comes in riding condition? Especially in uphill condition.. does the car with coil spring will have more effort in riding than leaf spring?
Sir, I drive a 2000 GMC Safari van. I have a tool box in the back all the time that weighs about 200 lbs. My leafs are shot. They are flat or even have a slight "frown" instead of a "smile" shape. sometimes I load it up pretty heavy and I would like to even pull a trailer. kindly can you explain more about relationship between stiffness of ride and leaf springs...and also about that how it effect to remove some leaf for smoothness of ride? its about hilux revo...
Hi. i have a hilux and i am not loading anything on my daily drive. I had it lifted with suspension with add a leaf. question, if i replace the stock leaf spring with that A-Spring, will it make the ride smoother or comfy?
@@alvinbulawit3687 i cannot guarantee the ride quality coz the internal valving of the ridemax is unknown. If the shocks are Ironman 4x4 then we can be sure it would work as they are manufactured to work with the springs.
Usually the mistake is too stiff a coil. As a remedy they run the shocks on #1 setting, so they have no damping and you bounce around all the time. This is a common mistake here in Pinas.
Have you considered more than just your shocks and leafs? What tyres are you running? If you have lower profile tyres you will have less suspension and a stiffer ride. Tyres are part of your suspension (air/rubber spring).
@@Senkino5o good point. However, if you deflate the tires to soften them, you actually start the suspension movement at the tire and not the shock and spring. The bad thing is tires (air/rubber spring) are un-damped as they have nothing to stop them from bouncing around like a basketball. That is why softening the tire is a good thing up to a certain point, the point where they will not interfere with the shocks/spring ability to do their job. That is why offroad race trucks and rally cars run normal tire pressures, so the suspension can do its job properly.

Poly is a good rotational bearing and it does not mind grease, hence the greasable shackles. This way you get less friction at the shackles. Poly is not good with flex and vibration dampening, but you dont want the shackles to flex, but you want the springs to flex. As for shocks, you have a lot of angle changes so rubber is better, plus it absorbs more vibration. Using Poly on shocks will give more side loading and bending forces the shocks causing premature seal wear.

All springs. A, B, C, or D. The load rating on the springs (comfort, no load, with load, heavy load, or whatever people call it) is ONLY about accessory load, not total load. Accessory load meaning things you cannot remove from the car. BUT all the springs will and are designed to load up to Gross Vehicle Weight rating of the car manuracturer, in the case of most pickups, 1 ton.
