Sometimes we like to make champions that can cross the map kill half your team and remain untargetable for 5 seconds despite there being no counterplay
"We've noticed that Aurelion Sol is actually able to cs in lane. To combat this we've decided to remove the execute clause from his passive." - Riot, probably.
@@keeperofthehammer6795 asol is bad if you dont have enough games, but his roaming potential allows him to help other lanes if he has a bad match and snowball the game
@@seantierney2028 no aSol is bad, he's a much worse Tf right now literally his full combo with ult still does less then tf stun card q auto auto and have next w ready soon. Climb to challenger with teemo or any dogshit champion? climb to challenger with any other champion that has cc and a dash! :-DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ya right! big time balance. :-P edit: aoe immunity and untargetable and dashes ten times yes mister balance come at me pls.
I swear the only reason they removed the forums and even the comments section from the patch notes was because they didn't want people to give them any criticism.
I hate saying this but forums had worse circlejerks than reddit. Had way too many upvote/downvote abuse due to low visibility on threads and barely had discussion. At some point it was common to see the same repost 6 times in a row, with the 6th time seeing upwards of 20 upvotes/views. Reddit isn't greatly better but if you have time to talk to high elo mains and just the general playerbase to gather a petition, like what Garen mains previously did with riste, then it gets way more attention on twitter.
@@apollyon1311 well, like they always do with everything that isnt popular: they did this with akali, with sett, with aurelion and they are planning to do it with illaoi, i expect everything from riot at this point
"we check in on champions regularly" yeah... that's why hecarim was the best jungler for 6 months that's why jhin, kai'sa and tristana were terrorizing bot lane since preseason, right....
A large part of all of this is player skill, too. All three of those champions are easily countered by changing your build up, changing your runes, or by simply practicing enough so you can outplay them.
Didn't the guy who said that actually quit? EDIT: I looked it up and this is the guys current twitter bio Champion Designer at Riot- Volibear, Wukong, Malphite, and secretly buffing Warwick and Skarner whenever possible. Opinions are mine, not Riot’s.
Professional game design since before electricity. Maybe if I have all the worlds babies play tic tac toe they will have 200+ collective years of game playing experience among them. That would mean they're good at playtesting games right?
This video is hilarious.... " we want you to pick whatever you want", meanwhile top is full of counter picks and Riot made it worse with this season and the new items. People counter pick in challenger, in gold, in bronze, even in normals and low level games they counter pick, like wtf are they talking about? Utter BS video. They need to balance match ups, not just "champion power" across X number of games. The stats do not reflect the actual experience of an individual player in an individual game because they simply CAN'T.
I think they mean whichever champion you want out of the most played ones and don't ever look at champions like Asol cause we don't care about them and neither should you.
Can I just point out Taric is actually an incredibly strong champion with one of the best ulti in the game? Some guy got to Challenge in korea playing him top. Now I can't defend Sona just as much xD
Imagine being the new guy at Riot HQ and they're like "Okay Bill, send out this video on April 1st, 8 AM, alright?" and he's just now getting to it haha Typical Riot, sending out patches, I mean videos, almost 2 months late
Before you reply to this comment by saying "Sona has a 52% Winrate, she's broken!!!!", she has a 2% pickrate, which makes it easier for their mains to get her to a high winrate.
That's the joke, Seraphine is just a reworked Sona, both have a passive that empowers an attack/ability after 3 abilities, both have a poke and a shield/heal, then their ultimates are a wave that heavily cc Champs, the only real difference is the one has a speed buff and the other has a slow/root.
@@i-plow i dunno where you're playing because i haven't seen a seraphine in a very long time and lolalytics only places her at a 0.4% pickrate at plat+
This is basically a way to rationalize shutting down and patching out any fun or unorthodox strategy. A champion thrives on proxying? He is doing somethin weird. Lane swaps are viable? How weird how dare you deviate from Riota approved game script. A champion focuses more on disruption of enemy plans and map pressure rather than on creating their own? Well what a weird way to play the game lets patch it out. At least that is how I felt the moment I heard it
I have something to say: *A U R E L I O N S O L* Quick note: High winrate does not mean good champion, it just means the people who play that champion are mainly winning, aka, they are good at that champion, look at his playrate to winrate (Plat+) 0.9% playrate to 55% winrate, this data shows that not many people play him, but the people who do are good at him.
I have something to say as well: The W rework was supposed to allow riot to buff the champ to increase his playrate, but no one still plays him and now the people who did play him do not play him because the new w is a completely different character. Revert the change so the people who love the champ can actually enjoy him again... I mean A U R E L I O N S O L
"if theyre ruining the game for other players we will make some adjustments: *continues to make new champs that arent fun to play against with little outplay potential and overtuned kits*
But the character design team, lore team and the balances team are different so is more like, I give you my overtuned character and you try to put him in the game without changing it much. The real problem is that ht e teams in Riot do not have coordination and just do whatever they want. The fact that Seraphine is just a kda member that do not belong to runeterra and replace Sona is not balance and design fault, its just that the publicity team wanted it that way. If they just decide to coordinate it would be better.
Wtf, they are trying their best and even if they don’t work perfect, they still work very well… And the community just wants to different things to make everyone happy…
@@redcraft6038 It's not that the kits are too 'simple'; it's that they lack the ability to control the tempo of the game, and tend to fall off against highly skilled opponents pretty quickly. Or their numbers aren't big enough.
@@erdaftft2490 That felt closer to a year... He was busted in soloQ already, they forced him into proplay with over buffing; then refused to nerf him back down. I legit had him permabanned for over 8 months, every time I forgot and he got through, he shitstomped.
@@Richtofen you mean how interesting it would be? then seeing the same 10 champs in every single game they broadcast like its so boring seeing the same op champs game after game after game.
lux doesn’t need a nerf. in fact, she needs many buffs. anybody that has played more than 10 games of lux in season 11 would know this. a lot of mages don’t feel very nice right now
Would you prefer if they just did their classic "Nerf it until it's useless" strat or actually do gradual nerfs that won't completely ruin a champ? 'Cause if it's not the latter, then you shouldn't be playing against real players.
the champ will die they nerf it too much. look what happened to akali before. they nerf her every patch. no one plays it anymore. until they decided to adjust her
"Regular Check Ins on every Champion" "so how's Aurelion Sol doing?" - "Dead as always, 90% of people asking for a revert like usual" - "How nice that everything is where it should be"
I like how they have shown amumu during this one, like if he wasn't super low winrate jg rn, even on bronze that he supposedly is strong, his winrate isn't over 47% iirc. There was one moment when he was strong with sunfire, so they nerfed sunfire and amumu is now as forgotten as he was, most irrelevant jg I think
Me as a main Sona player with 1.5 million mastery points: Cut his legs and arms, kill his family using his body parts while he is watching and then burn his house to the ground with him still alive in it.
I still remember when in one Exil video, he said that riot never tried to mess with league community and playerbase intentionally. That didn't age so well.
They also used Braum as example of champion you can actually play with, amumu as example of champion regularly checked on (yeah so regularly that whenever he hits winrate above 45% he gets nerfed or one of items he uses gets one)
"So if anything gets... REALLY far out of line, we'll change them in between patches. Immediately" 2:50 *Graves & Hecarim laughing for 4 seasons in a row*
"We want to make sure every champion is playable" Can't even show the god of the entire universe, Aurelion Sol. Man's has just been completely forgotten
i mean there are champs that are too strong and too weak, but league overall is one of the best balanced games. Theres games with much larger balancing issues, but league's are amplified from being such a huge game
Then when this is not effective, don't nerf the champ itself, but buff those that counter him, then now you have 3 more unbalanced champions, while the one you were trying to balance is now unplayable...
"Here at Riot Games we prioritize fair and balanced gameplay!" meanwhile new Mundo is soloing every single tower without minions and ending the game with full health
This video feels like a slap in the face. I've been playing league for 8 years, and I've never felt closer to leaving the game than I do now. Balance, or a lack thereof, is the primary reason. In the 8 seasons I've experienced, I've never before seen one with such fundamental issues as this the current season, nor one with as shallow of a pool of viable champions. Time after time, I've seen the community identify problems only to have riot double down and worsen them rather than fix them.
@@bruh3457 I think dfg was fine as a item, you had to choose either damage or buy a zonyas. Now everyone buys stopwatch/zonyas because its the most broken item in the game for the cost.
I mean.. you can call league players dumb all you want.. but its a fact that your average gold player probably knows more than the current gameplay staff
@@ajd2393 Some older champions are very underwhelming because the skill expression was not very like today's LoL and they are absolute balance nightmares because of the current meta. Nearly everyone have some sort of outplay mechanic now.
"All these rules don't apply to a champ that just got released. We make them broken on purpose to drive up sales, then after 30 days they go into the balance period."
ok but making new champs broken has a good reason. If the champ is broken the playrate is high so they have a higher samplerate to fix things. Then they nerf it into oblivion so only a few players stay with it which then will find strategies to play it either way which then become the norm and riot can buff the champ according to if they like strats or not
Its more of unintended and unhealthy ways. Examples: tank ekko, tank marksman, ranged champs all taking phase rush because no other keystone out preformed being able to literally never be caught and became a kite God, times when tanks could go into damage items without losing out on being a tank due to stats/ actives/ or some part of their kit being too strong of a defensive tool, ryze tank, ezreal being the best jungler in the game for a while, jungle champs being the best in a solo lane, etc
Speaking in broad terms that's only a good thing since if a champion starts building weird item builds that can often point towards something being unbalanced. There could be exceptions to this of course but generally it is a good way of judging whether something is broken or not.
Lol they straight up just decide whether or not a champ is stuck to one role or viable in 4 completely randomly. Seraphine??? Great everywhere expect Jgl - gets a few slap on the wrist nerfs every other patch for a month until they finally decide to tone her down to an acceptable level. Still playable in 3 roles after. Pyke = decent support, can be flexed as mid - remove mid Pyke from the game and make support Pyke less fun by forcing him to be next to an ally at all times.
@@rasmusmalmberg6468 I totally agree on the removing mid pyke part but what are you talking about when saying he has to stuck to a teammate? I was a pyke main but didn't played a lot recently, is there something I'm missing?
@@emiruysal507 His gray health only heals effectively when an ally is nearby now so he's limited in how he wants to use his mobility now if he wants to use his passive
@@penguin259 You have to look from this pov: they said they want to make every champion playable by anyone who wants it in any division. So when people talk about "oh you are bronze and u think this and that is broken, it doesn't matter cuz you don't know how to play, come in diamond and see nobody is playing this" is stupid. The argument is invalid because they literally said their goal takes into account every division because after all, even those idiotic bronze players are still players who enjoy league just as must or maybe even more than a diamond or master - Why did I say this? It's because you said only Viego is broken but it's important to think of all the broken champs across all divisions thus I included more. This is btw in no way shape or form a disagreement to what you said.
its true in a way. even if ur opponent was playing a busted champ if ur betteer and lets say u have years of experience with a champion you can still prevail
Aatrox heal is so much worse.. i had so many games where he was literally down to single digits and full life araound 1s later. in one game we had an Illiaoi attack an Aatrox with 4 tentacals for 30 seconds. She died and he left the fight fullife.
@@cathymills2697 Aatrox needs his ult to get insane lifesteal and that's okay, his damage is very telegraphed and every ability can be dodged. It's quite different for Sylas since he can heal a disgusting amount starting levels 2-3, and buying executioner's doesn't really do anything against him.
@@cathymills2697 It's insane how many games I've had recently where aatrox is extremely low and then heals to full HP in the middle of the fight. Even a 1v4 against him is a risk. In all of these games my entire team had grievous wounds as well.
