+Josh Brucks ... Cult experts and social scientists make a distinction between constructive/benign organisations/religions and destructive cults like Scientology.A study of the two reveals that there are striking differences between how they operate. So not all religions are destructive cults. And not all destructive cults are religious in nature. Studies of the groups People Temple,Branch Davidians, Heavens Gate,Jehovah's Witnesses ,Moonies,Scientology ,Hare Krishna etc reveal that they engage in the similar practices of deceptive recruiting, pressuring members to join, isolation of members from families, forbidding their members from associating with family and friends not in the group, having an us vs them mentality, having an abnormal control over members lives, controlling their members access to critical information of the group, implanting phobias about leaving, encouraging members to spy on one another, harassing, shunning, intimidating ex-members.Mental health professionals classify this as psychological abuse and often observe how rife mental health problems are in these groups. There are also political and commercial organisations which employ the above mentioned practices The Nazis, North Korean Regime are examples of destructive political cults.
I used to be a part of Scientology myself for a time! I know exactly what Leah is going through! A couple years ago I met her face to face in my little home town. She was very warm, and nice, and genuine. She approached my mom and I, shook our hands, smiled very kindly, and spoke with us briefly. Glad she got away from the cult! She is brave and beautiful. God bless!
Leah is very brave to speak out on this. You can see she is scared of them. Look at her face still programmed to have that fear. Have no fear Leah as now you are free.
Her restraint eloquently testifies to the horrors of the oppressive depraved, twisted, money grabbing, soul twisting, fascist set of corporations that make up scientology. I am proud of her for pulling herself into the world of human compassion once again.
Definitely a cult in my opinion. People who leave the organization are often harassed, embarrassed publicly, and or worse. So brave of anyone to take it into their own head to leave.
I have a lot of respect for Leah for not giving two shits what this "church" has to say. I don't understand how they've maintained their tax exempt status given all the legitimate information that has been made public over the years.
"Encouraged to write each other up." Holy shit that sounds an awful lot like what happened among the Peoples Temple members at Jonestown and we all know how that ended.... 😳
+Gerardine Cizmar religions are the same thing and there is something else as well not just the money aspect but fundamentally there are no differences
zoe stary I agree. I was raised a Catholic but I don't know what I believe in anymore. All I know is they're not getting my money. I'll give my cash to an animal charity before I send it to the Vatican. Catholics are supposed to give 10% of their income to the them...When hell freezes over...
+T Davis Yeah, but the problem is she is, "speaking out," about it SO MUCH... from interviews all the time, podcasts, books, more interviews.... that the very same thing she is speaking out against, she's becoming almost a walking billboard and public speaker FOR. I mean my God. I look to the right of my screen on RU-vid suggestions, and all I see are a million videos of Leah Remini and Scientology. If you Google Leah Remini, all you see is, "Leah Remini speaks Scientology." It's starting to overshadow her work as a sitcom actress.
Jennifer Smith Omg, that is such a good point?...I didn't realize that but you're right. You know Hollywood is only interested in you when you have what they want. they never took her seriously before this anyway...
+Jennifer Smith speaking out against the atrocities committed by a cult is surely more important than her sitcom. Her career will recover, she is truly magnificently brave.
+Jennifer Smith she's trying to help people by making people more aware of the dangers of this cult. i think she's incredibly brave and obviously u have no idea what ur talking about... unless the church has paid u to troll the comments section. have they?
One day, when T. Cruise is about 86, laying on his deathbed, he's going to look back on his life & have the most powerful and profound realization that ANYONE has EVER experienced. He has wasted such a LARGE portion of his life on this nonsense in the guise of spiritual awakening. Mark my words, when the day comes that Tom Cruise realizes that he's been suckered, he is going to go TOTALLY postal. "I am incredibly rich. I was considered the best looking guy in Hollywood. I am a mega-star. But, what did I do with it? Promote nonsense?" BOOM
He is not only promoting it. Some say that he might even be the secret top leader of scientology. I don't think that he believes in what scientology is about but he is leading (or has a huge importance) a organisation full of money and celebrities. I don't think he will regret it. Maybe only because of his family.
Dat Scary Creep All lies eventually fade away, and the truth hiding underneath grows larger and more ungainly with every passing second. One day he'll gaze in the mirror knowingly, denial no longer sustaining the beast within.
+Woodsgirl21ify , as a calvinst, I can say man's mind is a idol factory. thus there is only 1 true religion, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (see the law of non contradiction and the impossibility of the contrary). false religion is a brain washing made possible by man's fallen nature. but true religion, is by the eternal decree (outside of time - superlapsarian), and providence inside of time (inside of time - infralapserian)..and this is done by sola gratia, thru sola fide, in sola Christus, for sola Dei gloria, according to sola scripture! that is the ordo salutus, señorita ;)
+Jessica Lynn Colter I. The catholic or universal Church, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect, that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fulness of Him that fills all in all.[1]II. The visible Church, which is also catholic or universal under the Gospel (not confined to one nation, as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion;[2] and of their children:[3] and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ,[4] the house and family of God,[5] out of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation.[6]III. Unto this catholic visible Church Christ has given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life, to the end of the world: and does, by His own presence and Spirit, according to His promise, make them effectual thereunto.[7]IV. This catholic Church has been sometimes more, sometimes less visible.[8] And particular Churches, which are members thereof, are more or less pure, according as the doctrine of the Gospel is taught and embraced, ordinances administered, and public worship performed more or less purely in them.[9]V. The purest Churches under heaven are subject both to mixture and error;[10] and some have so degenerated, as to become no Churches of Christ, but synagogues of Satan.[11] Nevertheless, there shall be always a Church on earth to worship God according to His will.[12]VI. There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ.[13] Nor can the Pope of Rome, in any sense, be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself, in the Church, against Christ and all that is called God.[14]
leahs looking great as always.the church thought that because she was a loyal member they were home free with her,but when they tried to go after her daughter they learned in short order they were not! I would not want to piss leah off,ive heard shes a great person and to know her is to love her,i find that very easy to believe, but they say if you cross her stand by! I find that easy to believe!
Leah sister was on a episode of lyanla fix my life, I wonder why Nicole did not share the real story with lyanla, I think she was trying to protect the church, my heart go out to Nicole she is suffering from eating disorders and depression all because a decision her mother made, the Scientology church is just a cult. This church has damaged this family! I am so glad leah is standing up for what she believes in, kudos!!!
I've read her book and and I was so angry and shocked what a so-called "church" is doing to their members. What they are doing to families and what they are doing to children. And what Leah and so many others are going through. And that she did not leaving this cult quitly but speeking out the truth and don't stop fighting against this cult. I have so much respect and love for Leah for what she's doing.
She's a good soul. That along with her great personality has made her most powerful cult awareness force. Thank you, Leah, for bringing good into this world.❤️
I have such a newfound respect and love for Leah Remini. Her courage and determination to expose the truth is absolutely amazing. She and Mike Rinder made an excellent team. Proud of his championing alongside Leah. Everyone who was on the show was super brave and amazing. Bless them all. 🙏🏻✨☀️
my aunt is in that "church" and bealive me is a cult, she left her family, children, husband, they want my aunt to try and joing me and my mom, and we still get mail from them is scary
Katie Holmes statement only confirms the truthfulness and honest of which Leah Remini spoke of and has written about. That's why Leah was smiling and near tears.
+Billie Mason One would hope so; however, the longer he chooses to stick with that group, the more difficult it will be for him to leave. Sadly, it is not only himself he chooses that danger for, but for his children as well.
People really need to read her book. It's a damn shame she spent 75% of her life in that mess. She spent several years questioning things before she left. That church put her through hell. And according to the other people that left, they are known to harass and threaten those who leave. So she's probably going through a lot of shit. Religion should uplift you not stifle you or burden you. Unfortunately Scientology isn't the only religion that has leaders that seek to brainwash their members. You have to have the sense to question and find answers for yourself.
I think so! But I think she chose a different set of words because one of Scientology's axioms is that every living being's main goal is to SURVIVE! (in special stylized text in all Scientology books), and didn't want to give the Church the satisfaction of hearing her using that specific word.
Many countries (including Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Russia, the United Kingdom), while not prohibiting or limiting the activities of the Church of Scientology, have rejected its applications for tax-exempt, charitable status or recognition as a religious organization; USA should do the same. Bravo to Leah.
Wow- I experienced these people. Dentist sent me to Clearwater- me to Dr Minkoff in Clearwater. Nothing felt good. Downtown was so odd. I didn’t feel good there. I was stalked and followed. I researched. I found out about Lisa McPherson. I didn’t want to end up like her. The are against mental help. Had no idea. They are out to destroy the profession.
I believe very strongly that Leah is speaking truth - not solely as she sees it or wants to project; rather as it truly is. Scientology is a cult & a very dangerous & controlling one at that - not that all cults aren't dangerous & controlling. If all those caught up with such groups would speak truth instead of allowing themselves to be controlled, on the many levels they are being controlled, some light would reach into the darkness that surrounds their lives & the lives of others involved in such false teachings/beliefs.
I had 2 Friends back in the 70’s that sucked into this Horrible Cult, they were Heading South, 2 Young Men, looking for Adventure, travelling to South America they got as far as Portland Oregon, and that’s where their Adventure ended, all their Money was taken from them through a promising process of eventual success, they were slowly Brain washed, and they did not contact Home at all, so eventually Authorities from Canada started to chase the Cold trail, they eventually caught up with them in 2 Different Locations at 2 Different times and did even come Home at the Same time, The Closer of the 2, My Friend Bob, was never the same after that, it was weird, his eyes were a mess, a long with His personality, different Guy, lost touch with Him very quickly after that.
Good for Leah for AND Katie for getting the hell OUT of the there, they should have done it sooner! I cant imagine the scars they have on their hearts now that they'll have to live with forever because they didnt think "what am i getting myself into here, this shit isnt normal" just glad they got out when they did and it would be great to see the both of them together as friends getting to grow up together! ; ) Your family can turn against you but your REAL friends will always be there to see people come and go from your life. They'll understand the things you go through and love you thru it if need be. you need your friends too (especially your girlfriends ladies) just as much as you need your family.
It is rare that I can say that I respect anybody associated with Hollywood. I happily say that I deeply respect Leah for her guts and her willingness to fight for her family in a way that a wonderful mother does. She is worthy of our respect. One of the few in Hollywood.
so glad Leah and Katie are both out of that so called church. I do not recognize it as a church. Though I have a feeling they both , and their children will never be completely free of drama surrounding it. As Leah said they are now back to being human.
If I had been brought into a religion as a child and indoctrinated to the point of true belief then came to realize they were using my faith to capitalize on the fame I earned I certainly would be incensed. This is patent flimflam. They ought to lose tax exempt status at minimum!
Just finished reading her book......and I must say it's quite interesting and she discusses much about Scientology and some celebrities who were involved in the church. I am more convince after reading her book than before that the "the church" is more of a cult. I would recommend anyone to read the book.
