I agree. The sheer number of survivors is extraordinary, and a lot of the harassment they've faced by scientologists has been captured via video or audio.
Now, SEVEN YEARS later, Leah Remini has not only continued but has been pretty successful in exposing this CULT of scientology! I applaud her! I deeply, deeply respect her and I genuinely LOVE HER for her courage, endurance and authenticity while maintaining to be such a positive force. Leah, you've become a role model for me. Keep it up! ❤️❤️
@@Verziik Laugh all you want. There is nothing "hidden" about Scientology. There are thousands of L. Ron Hubbard lectures and many published books on the matter. It is anything but hidden. Millions of minds and hundreds of nations agree Scientology is a "religion". You can think it's a cult though. I don't. It's officially not.
I don't understand how people take a religion created by a fictional writer seriously. ...... He believed his own imagination so strongly that he convinced everyone around him that it was real too?
+amilani3 the bible was written be a number of witnesses so to insinuate that Jesus Christ is a fictional character you would also have to believe that the Romans didn't exist as well..... you can believe what and how you want but it's obvious that your comment was just said out of ignorance because clearly you've never picked up the bible nor researched your statement
+amilani3 For me not only the miracles of Jesus but a bunch of stuff from the Old Testament are as crazy as the Xenu shit. However, if you ask +Leshia Richardson: -Hey! You're Christian right? So, what do you people believe in? She can explain it to you and you can say -That's fucking stupid. And walk away. With Scientology however you have to pay ridiculous amounts of money just to get that preposterous Xenu story revealed to you.
doesn't this sum up all religion.... whats that moses... a talking mountain gave you tablets.... oh wow! can i see.... no? why not?.... what's that Muhammad... god told you to write a new holy scripture? oh wow... where? in this cave? can i go in... no? why? whats that Mary... you're pregnant but you ha e never had sex? oh really... wow. . who says its a holy child though? oh gods Angels . . did they tell your husband his too? no? why?.... and so on and so on
+Floortje dreesman I'm guessing that when you're revealed that nonsense after you've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars it would be more traumatic to admit that you've been fooled big time than remain inside. Like denial or something. The miracles of Jesus sound equally ridiculous but you don't have to pay to know Christians believe that.
even she can't believe the story of Xenu.... what I like about her, is, you can take the girl out of Bensonhurst NY... but you CAN'T take Bensonhurst NY, out of the girl... she is a tuff cookie...
This is a CULT. They get people trapped into staying & then make them fearful to leave through subtle brainwashing through all of those "steps", or "levels" that they slowly but surly make you go through to become a member. During these processes they slowly put fear & lies into your mind & subconscience in order to win control over you. It's a slow process, but it's powerful & it works! Just look at the tantrums Tom Cruse throws in public, and on camera! Now that IS brainwashing!
@@ellencarter8459 She went in as a kid. So..come on now. The girl has a brain..so much of one she could see how fucked up the religion she was in as a kid is.
+MarkMash17 and now 5 I really don't understand how people submit themselves to such a cult because scientoly is not a religion it's a cult of greedy money grabbers ang greedy for power people like tom cruise ( that's the impression I have of him)
True, yet you have to remember that she 1)didn't have to leave alone as her family chose to stand by her; 2) she had financial resources and connections. Most people can't leave because their families are stuck there and because they gave all their money to church, so they are alone and broke (morally AND financially). So it takes much more than courage but also resources and emotional/financial support.
What other "religion" releases insulting, offensive, character assassination statements about people when they choose to disassociate themselves, or even speak out against it? Catholicism? Buddhism? Mormonism? Judaism? Islam? Seventh Day Adventist? I'm not saying they're without faults and preach some questionable things sometimes, but when people speak out against them, you don't get a spokesperson telling the world that they are making up stupid things and are attention seeking liars with no ethics.
+emlem52 Apostasy is a crime in 20 muslim countries. Punishable by death in Afghanistan, Brunei, Egypt, Iran (they hanged even a 13 year old convert to Christianity), Malaysia (in some states), Mauritania, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Pakistan and Egypt aren’t entirely clear about the punishment. Yemen is really nice because you can save your life if you return to Islam. Insults against Islam are also punishable by death in many of these countries.
+albedoshader Oh 100%. Again, I'm not saying other religions are always fair, just and pillars of morality and ethics. I'm just put off by Scientology's propensity to take the time to make statements to the media about a person's sanity/stability, credibility and memory of events. It's like they are so offended by anyone saying a bad word about their religion that they will go out of their way with their lawyers and publicists to try and discredit the person, but not before attacking them personally too. It's a whole *different* level of insane to me.
+emlem52 Yes, indeed. Scientology is a purely commercial money grabbing scheme. Their public behavior against ex-members and critics is appropriate for a mafia - here is nothing religious about Scientology at all.
+emlem52 True! Remember though that the Cult of Scientology is a false religion run by users & losers. Their character assassination statements prove only to show what low lives they truly are. I feel so sad for the innocent people caught up with that group.
I am SO glad Leah's family & (some) friends stood by her! A family's love & support is so very crucial at a time like this when her personal religion she has know for over 3 decades turns totally against her while very cruely attempting to discredit her. Ironically, while this "church" is spending so much (wasted) time, man-power and effort, not mentioning the total waste of money in this idiotic, cruel investment to hurt her, Leah's true character is rising above all of these lies! Leaha's batteling this with grace, strength, determination and tenacity to expose this CULT which invades families by the divide & concure method, with using fear tactics. Good for Leah! I wish her the best in this and that she will (soon) find true peace. God Bless her.
Her Interview show talking to people who left the cult etc. It actually came on the 29 and will keep showing every week. Can't remember the name of it. Comes on at 10:00pm.
It's heartbreaking, hearing the survivor's stories, yet the show is absolutely brilliant! I love how they are cracking the lid open on Scientology's secrets and crimes on humanity. I hope that stupid cult implodes on itself. I hope the same for Jehovah's Witness, which a recent episode of Leah's show similarly exposed. Down with cults!
I'm so glad her family stood by her. I understand her position, by being in a place where you're learning really useful information that's tainted by evil/egotistic hearts. I'm proud of her for speaking up instead of taking the comfortable road of silence, even now that she's done with the church.
That ''useful information'' is some basic comunication psychology that can be learnt from other sources. In essence scientology is not ''useful information'' (even if it offers bits of it at first), it's the CULT that was intended to scam and brainwash/enslave people
I noticed how careful she is about what she says and how she says it. Perhaps to avoid being sued or harassed. I found it ironic that the church said that she was desperate for relevance and discredited her accusations. To me, THEY are the ones who are desperate for relevance. Nobody wants to join their cult anymore.
true. My groupmate at the university died because of Jehovah Witnesses. She was a normal person but then she got more into this "religion" and she's started to fade away. She was just like a zombie, and I also could see that she was suffering but I didn't know how to help her. She took some time off and then I find out that she died. I think that her mind couldn't handle all the crazy stuff that they preach, bastards.
Its hard to watch that go on, when i was a teenage i had 2 friends i use to travel to work with, when one left the church they would sit near each other on the bus but not acknowledge each other and they had been friends for years. She told me she wasnt allowed to. It went on for some time before he attempted suicice once or twice then married his way back into the faith because he just couldnt handle it. I was gutted watching all this go down.
Everything that witnesses practice are directly from the Bible, not from some randomn person, but from God -inspired word himself. It’s nothing like this. There is literally nothing that they do from man made tradition.
I like her direct way of speaking, like when she brings up the Xenu thing and says she thought it was crazy, Dan is like, but you didn't leave? And she says "what was I going to do? leave my mother?" It's complicated, not that simple to just walk away from your community. Even less culty Christian churches can be hard to leave, it's not like joining a bowling league and then quitting after a couple seasoins. That's why I really give her props for leaving.
It does you no good to regret things you can’t change. Looking through old videos while reading Mikes book. So glad you two took them on. You can only control your future choices. I hope you help people not choose Scientology in the future.
I could care less about Scientology however I applaud her and contrary to what they tried to do to her when leaving and after having left she held to hers. I loved how she said “ And what leave my mother?” I think that speaks highly of her regarding her family and how she’s dealt with that organization. It also speaks volumes how Katie ran from Tom and the organization like it was a mafia situation. That poor girl I don’t think she knew what she was in for. I hope all are at peace now.
LEGAL EAGLE I don’t understand her mother gave her to this org or church since childhood or what why she couldn’t leave was she a prisoner or what this is confusing ???
How to know if it's a cult (works for any organization): •heirarchy among individual persons (not by rank, but by PERSON); •its own phraseology, not understood by outsiders (in this case, terms like "going clear", "Having", etc.); •encouraging trust in the group while destroying trust in one's own instincts (Scientology sounds great at this one, w/all their shameful "auditing"); •punishment for leaving but rewards for staying, each of these outsized and deliberately inflicted upon the individual; •guilt by association/orders to avoid "dangerous/threatening" [to the group!] people; •DEMAND for an inordinate (usually an Increasingly inordinate) amount of control- as well as over seemingly unrelated areas, such as work or romance- of a person's life as a cost of membership. *It's difficult because these are usually things which come on incrementally! If any of these TRUE costs/rules were advertised up-front, nobody would ever join a cult.
As far as I am aware there are no mainstream religions where structures are secret to the extent where you cannot read the holy book in its totality at any point
This, even including part two, is not the full interview. The full interview is way better. Good on you Leah. x Full version is under "New 20/20 Troublemaker: Actres Leah Remini and Her 30 Year Life in Scientology"
She inquired about the absence/disappearance of David Miscavigage's wife, whom she & other previous Scientologists think is being held against her will, because she also started questioning the "church." It was as simple as that.
I remember walking down the stairs of the Elks lodge in Long Beach and the so called Elders stretching out his hands praying over 10,000 dollars in cold " God please purify this money" that's how brain washed I was, starting at 17 left at 25, they knew my heart was into God, dam I wish my eyes were opened.
Scientologists commenting online here should take a chance and research while you can. Go to some sites usually not permitted and read, read , read. There is always 2 sides to everything. Nobody is stopped from freedom to use all of the internet unless there is something to hide. Hope you are not spending too much money and you have the freedom to speak freely as I do.
I think you're right. Printing has been huge though. This money is huge and as long as $$$ feed into society they will have power, However what if we don't want printed items, magazines etc..If it cant sustain itself financially it will start to "die out"
Sooooo, now here is a question: If Leah is a liar, attention seeker, etc. after 30+ years of being within that church, then isn't that proof that their teachings and practices are total failures?????
Thank god Katie got out before they took Suri away and put her on that boat and Leah too thank god her Angelo got away with Sophia Angelo wasn't gonna abandon his wife I know that nor would Leah's mother and sister abandon her they love each other they are real Tom Cruise is not real he is not honest with himself he knows its Bull Shit but they brainwash him so much he cannot admit it
To everyone comparing Scientology to every religion, there is a fine line between religion and cult! The problem isn’t the ridiculous beliefs such as xanu the issue is how they treat their members, the lack of consent, the harassment, the isolation to make them more vulnerable, the emotional manipulation and abuse, and the unhealthy control it has on lives. Always remember that one quote, if u wanna know if it’s a cult or not just look at how they treat the people who leave.
It's funny, not defending scientology but if ANY of the major religions started today instead of thousands of years ago, ppl would think it's crazy too.
well that says a lot about religions right? and i don't know another church that uses slave work force like sea org members or makes people disconnect from their family
@@rghmf Its easy to forget there are many religious inquisitions in the past that killed thousands of people and destroyed families for not believing in what others wanted.
@@Paineinyourblank true, i was talking about western religions but every religion has the possibility of becoming a nasty organization that will hurt their believers
I know they physically hold people that join the sea org for one thing and don't let them leave . She questioned where Shelly was at the wedding and they told her she was unauthorized to question that and that's when she started noticing things.
I am glad she got away from the Church of Scientology. The organization itself sounds very manipulative and damaging. However, regarding Xenu, et al, I would have to say that would be one hell of a sweet Sci-Fi knowledge. I guess that is one of the "perks" of your religion being started by a science fiction author.
It is difficult to see the ridiculous belief system of a church community specially when you grew up in it. I didn't go to a Scientology church, but I used to go to a church that basically took away people's time from their family and even brainwashed the people into devoting their money into building a church that never gotten built. All went into the pastors' pockets. It was difficult, but I had to leave on my own. My mom is still there, and it's tough, because it's like they have their own little world that my opinions and reasons aren't valid. I only hope that more peoples' eyes would be opened up soon.
Scientology has some strange tenements and teachings for sure. If only ABC would do something more useful like try just as hard to learn about our current administration.
floorfight Hi Floorlight. No I am not a Scientologist but I know about many strange things in their doctrines. I also know that these things do not negate everything else or the good the movement promotes. There are many good people who are members of Scientology even if their current leaders and power hungry maniacs. Look at the current Pope who is a cold blooded marxist. It does not reflect on all the members of the Catholic church.
+BellinghamsterTrail What good does the movement promote? The Catholic church is a horrible organization as well, I'm not sure that's exactly the right path to go down. They kept hidden and tried to cover, the raping of children. Just like the church of scientology have kept hidden, and still hides, the many mistreatments of mentally ill people wihtin the organizations, many of which have died.
If Scientology didn't have anything They wouldn't keep writing letters. It just looks Strange to me. If someone says something bad about other church's NO LETTERS NO BULLYING.NO STALKING. Just WEIRD.
They aren't allowed to watch anything negative about their church. They are mandated to turn away, close their eyes, block their ears if anything should even imply a negative critique of their church. They say it's their choice to walk away, etc. That's very true. What's implicit is the mandate. They CHOOSE to accept the mandate and walk away. They fail to mention the mandate and just mention their choice. Slippery.
How can anyone follow a "religion" that's been founded by a science fiction writer and it litteraly sounds like something out of one of the Star Trek movies?? It sounds like a lot of these actors that are a part of scientology, have taken their imagination and ability to morph into these fictional characters, from fictional lands on screen and it's actually affected their ability to tell the difference between reality and fantasy in real life. It's bat 💩 crazy!
So fascinated by Scientology. These cults are happening in real life not just what we see in Crime investigation shows like SVu about cults. Just a recent episode of svu was season 20 episode 5 Accredo
Please be aware of all the fronts of Scientology. In schools, healthcare, drug rehab centers, doctors, dentists, veterinarians- WISE. I ended up in their hands in Clearwater. I had to run away for safety. What Leah says is very true. I was only someone who uncovered darkness and they didn’t like it. Justice for Lisa McPherson.
Very good Leah remini woohoo to you in my opinion Leah you have cojones!!! Tom cruise feels big and important and needs to be a Scientology and you don't Leah go CREATO AND HIS SON!!!
