An old Boeing 737-800 had a pretty bad leak in the ceiling of the forward cargo bin. It appeared to have been an issue for possibly weeks given the mold and damage. The aircraft was delayed for two hours due to maintenance.
When we got in the bin it smelled like coffee, but the liquid smelt moldy. The delay ended up being 2 hours long and maintenance had to replace multiple components. The leak had been there for at least a week and other ramp crews never reported it.
We had a 747-400 just come into the hanger and before the waste tanks could be emptied someone removed the waste tank dump valve for use on another aircraft...unfortunately he flooded the entire rear cargo bay with about 400 litres of poo, and in the middle of summer too. We never did find out who was responsible. That aircraft never smelled right ever again. 😂
I'd rather an overcautious pilot when it comes to that kind of thing to be honest though. A plane should look like every other plane of the model, excluding written and approved differences obviously. That kind of thing prevents the swiss cheese model
I crossed referenced the hydraulic systems diagram just to make sure but assuming that is a variant of the 737 family, (-8 indicated in the description) then the system behind that wall is the waste management system, and waste storage tank (blue juice anyone?). Sorry to be the one to say you touched shit, but you probably did 😂
😂😂 I can say for sure it was definitely not human waste. The liquid itself didn’t smell like anything but the whole bin smelled like coffee for some reason. The leak turned out to be coming from the galley.
