There's no reason not to. Friends had a condo built around 2005. There was access to the back side of all 3 shower/tub valves, and for every cleanout. The place was also wired and piped for electric & gas appliances so you could run whatever you wanted. Also properly piped for a water softener (a necessity in the area) so the kitchen faucet and patio hose connection got unsoftened water. Someone with experience was involved in the design, that's for sure.
Code for Swedish bathroom is everything has to be external - pipes, taps, mixers. Pipe is chrome plated copper with chrome compression fittings, no soldering. And floors and walls are sealed all the way up.
When i soldered in tight places, i used old license plates, backside facing heat. They bend easy and you could duct tape them in place. Great for protecting fiberglass, keeping wood from burning, etc. Tech tip momma.
owner could have called the manufacture they would have sent the cartage or a whole new unit if there is no parts. pretty much all these companies give life time warranty on these units.
Yep have a shower just like that called Pfister 1-800 number they sent me a new cartage kit and a new trim kit i didn't even ask for, Cost me nothing just my time, installed everything myself easy. But Steve did the best for his customer the shower valve may not have been under warranty like mine was great installation Steve you did a good job for your customer.
all the big name companies offer a life time warranty. i know american standard replaced a 1997 unit for me 2 years ago no parts they sent a brand new unit no questions asked@@Ander5806
Great job. I recently did the same Moen shower valve replacement. It was impossible to solder the valve body without leaking using lead free solder. I finally bought some 60/40 lead solder and it worked great.
Price Pfister, they could have contacted them and got a new valve for free. They have a lifetime warranty and their warranty department is really easy to work with and gets things taken care of in a timely manner.
I don't think propress should be allowed becuase I belive a solder joint is the best way to make a water tight connection I heard alot of the bigger companies use propress I don't never will not interested in propress !
Right, I was a teenaga (practice my New Hampshire accent) when I did that soldering behind showa. It's a Moen, I thinks. No leaks mamma, (but who knows what's going on under the rubber matting in bathroom or carpet in next room mamma). I was a teenager mamma! I think I did it right! ha. Always a nice time Steve with your videos.
Moen is a good choice for replacement. I made the mistake of installing a Price Pfister faucet in my kitchen. The valves were always leaking and were expensive to repair.
Had to do similar job at my mom's house so I left access panel on other side open with 2 screws for next time laundry room back of shower! Great video Steve!
