Now That is what I need to begin! I tried other “first lesson” vids and was disappointed. But you seem to know what a beginner truly needs to start playing. For that, I am grateful! I intend to watch and follow your lead sir!

Trying to learn the Mandolin at 64y/o, why not ! 😂 Like,your style of getting folks playing . I've learned those three cords, and doing ok on the G scales. Hopefully you can teach an old Disabled Navy Veteran, Dog new tricks !

I'm 57, and all I've ever played is the Appalachian dulcimer. ❤ I'm really liking the mandolin though, after getting a beginner model as a gift. 🎁 🎶 I can see it's going to be too hard to play, so I'm seriously considering a Loar.

Great lesson Baron. I mentioned this once in your live stream that I would like to see you add a two minute chord overview to your tune lessons. Just simply here are the chords that go with this melody in their basic open patterns. I'm working on getting beyond the G,C & D chords when I something else I'm lost. This is a great format. Chords, Scale and melody. Also coming from the violin when you say numbers I think of fingers and not frets... That's not your problem, it's mine 🙂 Keep up the great work I appreciate it all.

I have watched some of the greats on string instruments. They seem to know the secret simple chords and techniques. You tube seems full of incomplete over explained over complicated instructions. Are there any cliff note lessons?
