I love this video. I am a Pastor's wife and recently started playing in the church after we lost our regular piano player. I tried to take one-on-one lessons and failed horribly. I find that I can relate well to your form of teaching. I am looking forward to learning more.
I really appreciate your philosophy on teaching chords first. It trains students to internalize theory and harmony intuitively and aurally as well as technically.
@@pianoly My girlfriend loves the song "Honey in the Rock," which uses the same chords! However, I'll have to transcribe the song to C so I can play it using the chords you taught me in this video. Will you do a video on transcription someday?
I took piano lessons when I was younger. Now I'm ready to try again. You are a fantastic teacher and I am working on your methods and lessons. I would love to learn my favorite song : Imagine, by John Lennon. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent.
Hi, That is great! Thanks. By the way, the C major descripton on top (from 1:18), has a small mistake. The green mark is on the Eb, so it is a C minor, but you played and told it well. (You can repair that video if you want.) All the best, keep going!!!
Thank you for this clear snd concise lesson. Your combination of the actual keyboard and the chord overlay makes it seem easy, which is extremely motivating! “Let it Be” is a great song to learn. More Beatles please!’ I recently discovered your channel and I’m all in. Thank you!
I wanted to thank God for everything He has dun for me but a chose something i can not do at all to thank Him and playing Keyboard or Piano is one of them

‼FREE TRAINING (hosted by Kaitlyn Davidson) - HOW TO GO FROM STRUGGLING TO LEARN PIANO TO PLAYING YOUR FAVORITE SONGS (IN AS LITTLE AS A FEW MONTHS) WITHOUT OVERWHELM, CHILDREN'S MUSIC, AND UNNECESSARY MUSIC THEORY www.try.piano.ly/free-training
I never learned chords in my lessons as a child. At 74, it's time! I have just been playing whatever music is on the page! I think I'm a 4th grade level. I can play the entire Poet and the Peasant overture. I started learning it 60 years ago but never finished learning the last pages until two years ago. Phew!
Thanks al lot for th video. I'm a bass player and I have been getting really into learning my fretboard, scales and modes. I realized how you can just use that theory to play the keyboard, so I have been learning basic chords and triads on the keyboard. Eventually I want to create melodies with my midi keyboard to go along with my bass! Have a good day.
Recently I made the decision to learn to play the piano. I’m now seventy eight and have not the time for ta twenty five year training program. Well, you are the answer to my prayers. You manner of teaching is uplifting and encouraging. Thank you for offering this course. I’m so excited and looking forward to playing and singing. You’ve given me the confidence……..it’s going to happen. Thanking you in advance.
The C Major chord in the example at the top of the video is actually a C minor chord. (Eb instead of E) You're playing the right chord but the example is wrong.
This woman is so EASY to understand because she makes lessons so SIMPLE to understand! Love this teacher cause she names EACH keynote or chords by LETTERS 🔤🔠 , just cannot go wrong!! Awesome lesson here! Please do more pop songs! Too many Beatles songs already!!
Wow! What awesome class, thank you a lot for that! My favorite is the 3rd, the waves arpeggio, due I realized it sounds amazing with the sus pedal, and once the two hands are flowing coordinatelly it's like an hypnotic trance... really sounds like magical waves... and I was surfing them...what a feeling! Then the most challenging was the 6th, two octave arpeggios, due this cross thumb on the forth note, who has to jump 3 keys instead the one we get used on the scales technique... so really big jump for my clumsy thumb... 😛but I will keep practicing until master it due you're right, arpeggios are really amazing!!!
Okay you showed these chords starting at C4 and going up and then Let It Be was C4 and below. So how would you know if a chord starts at C4 or higher or lower? So if the C chord starts on C5 or C3 how would you know?
Hello! After a brain injury many years ago I lost my ability to play the guitar. I spent a lot of years on stage and its all gone. re-learning the guitar is just not happening but I refuse to give up on music. I can plink out a couple of simple tune segments on a piano and I have access to a piano. I'm going to give this a try for the next six months. Lets see where this takes me. Than you!
This was great, thank you. This is one of my favourite songs, so this would be my choice. You are playing another note between chords it sounds like. What is that?
Hi, I am a newbie trying to learn this beautiful instrument I'm starting to see your videos I hop I can learn the song Big shot from The Artist, Billy Joel . Thank you for your patience, thank you, ma'am. Ps Happy new year.
Question, I am new to this but I'm wondering about the four chords and what it would look like on a sheet of music? Notes, sheet of music. C-Major, F-Major, G-Major & A-Minor chords
Awesome.. you have inspired me to buy a keyboard..when I was young I could play the piano by ear.. and I've been messing around with free Garage Band on iOS ipad mini..its a little small.. and also now use the King of FM synthesiser plug-in .. both these are free and awesome too. But I realised I need a keyboard at least to experiment .. after your video I now see I need to learn other things too.. thanks again ..awesome..I'll be watching videos..
Nice you teach well I knew notes on piano not chords but now I understand because I know guitar so this tutorial is eye opening now I understand the logic thanks a lot ❤. Keep making tutorials like this one
Wow you're a good teacher. I was so frustrated ..I'm thankful for having come across uour teaching. Bless you. I'm 73 and so thankful to God . Shall be in touch
That looks really easy. I never would have thought Let It Be could be so easy. Heading to the piano I got on Next Door from advice from your previous video.
I am a beginner and have 32 key key board , I have a few simplified programs I on to learn What is a good simplified app to buy to use to type in any song for key board to get my 4 chords to play thsnk you
Kaitlyn, I have a question for you. In this video from 1:20 (time into video) to about 4:08 you demonstrated the chords C major, F major, G major and A minor. In your demo, you proceeded up the scale (to the right) with the chords following C major. Then when you did the demo using these chords for the song “Let It Be”, you start with C major at the “C4” point on the scale but then used the other 3 chords going down the scale (to the left). That threw me since you demoed the last 3 chords (prior to the song) going up the scale. I get it that those are the correct chords, but is there anything on the play sheet that would convey that direction relative the C major? Also at 1:17, the graphic image of the C major chord has illustrates a black key with green coloring to indicate to strike that key. I assume this is just a typo, correct? Kaitlyn, you are a brilliant instructor. I am sooo enjoying your RU-vid channel and am an older student who want to play the songs that I love using your methods. Thanks, Mark in Woodland CA
I like your video and your teaching, but the picture is showing C minor chord which may confuse some beginners. Can you fix this? Otherwise, it is really great and I will use this with my students.
Recently discovered your channel and I’m really enjoying the content … especially the humour! Who knew middle C was a cat in disguise … ha! I’d say I’m an early intermediate adult (actually retired now) piano student that seems to have got into a rut so your fresh approach is helping loads. Thanks for all your excellent content! 🎼🎹🙂
Am I pondering upon that question I am looking through my Music Library for new songs to learn. Name a few please: Sunken Cathedral by Claude Debussy, Clair De Lune by Claud Debussy. The Bach Tacotta and Fugue in d minor. Thank you for this video on chord progression. I subscribed to your videos, thank you.
