I really hope you never stop creating these amazing videos!!! I've just started learning Dutch on my own over a week ago and had had a lot of unanswered questions... Needless to say that I've finally grasped some basics since I watched a couple of your videos. The way you explain and show the examples of the sentences is just so clear and straightforward! Thanks so much for helping others understand Dutch!!!! ☺
Hey! I've just started to watch your videos and they're really great. I'm trying to learn Dutch by Duolingo and some other courses but having some problems because nobody puts the grammar rules as clearly as you do man, really appreciate it... So, I wanted to comment on your first video with some sincere compliments because I want it to be read :) If I have now could get your attention, can you make a video about the negatiations (both geen and niet and their placements)? You might be doing the videos according to the amount of the demand from comments, and I don't think I'm alone on this issue. At least in many Duolingo forums that deal with the exercises I've seen many questions regarding negative sentences, believe me. I hope you give this a chance, have a good one!
I just started as an absolute beginner from Turkey and I really like the way you teach. I will watch and study one by one from your oldest video toward the latest ones. Keep going, Niels! Thanks a lot.
That is great what you are doing! I like your videos because they are so human and explicite! Understandable! A great method of teaching and learning ...for me! Congratulations!
Hey Man, thanks for all your teaching, it's been so useful to me. I'm from Colombia but now I'm living in Amsterdam so I'm learning Dutch which by the way is an awesome lenguage. Very nice classes man, keep on doing them. Thanks
great work Niels, one thing about the later videos is that you use a bit more music and for those with hearing difficulties that makes life a bit more challenging.... I do love the clarity of your explanations. thanks a lot
hello, I really love your video. It very helps a newbie like me. Please make a video talking about "Bijvoeglijk naamwoord" and how to use "vergelijken". Thank you very much.
Hi Niels, why aren't you doing anymore vids? Would you be considering in future. Can I still support your channel? Will be so happy to have your response. I am actually learning Dutch intermediate, so with a lot of grammar basics I am very intrigue by your channel, and have learnt alot too. ))
I watch your videos a lot I find them really helpful as I continue to learn. Have you any material on using the dutch word 'wordt' in structures as I hear it a lot but don't understand how it fits into day to day speaking. Keep up the good work
How can we make this happen… Niels; your videos are amazing! They have taught me so much, and after discovering you, I find you no longer make content here. PLEASE COME BACK!
Please keep up the good work, looking forward to many more great lessons here! the amount of work you put here is amazing and I really appreciate what you do. ❤️ your videos! Let me know when you post another new viddy! I'm looking forward to seeing it. Btw Wish you a Merry Christmas and may this festival bring abundant joy and happiness in your life 💋 You know you look younger without a beard:-) Love your smile haha!!
Hi! Thank you for your lovely message! I just uploaded a new video. I thought I'd start the new year well. (The beardless videos are 3 years older, so that's another reason why I look younger in them ;-)
This is the second video I have been watching from your channel. Great to do. Would you like to teach something about HET en DE? Maybe you have it in the coming videos? I dont know yet. Will follow you. Thank you very much.
First, thank you for teaching Dutch in such a smooth and straightforward way. My question is: how should we make a sentence with more than one word? f.ex I think he has enough work to do. --> ik vind hij heeft genoeg werk om te doen ??
Your lessons are of great value and advantage to me ; though iam good at English But ( here what to use : maar, or ,,, wat) iam still confused about using to do like : ( i will do this , i will not do this, how to do that .. etc)
Thanks Veronica! I live in Brussels, Belgium at the moment, and these are the only lessons I teach right now. Feel free to suggest different topics though!
I find it a bit interesting that Dutch uses "to find" (vinden) for expressing opinion, given that Portuguese does something similar (with achar). Granted, it's not quite the same meaning (more close to "I believe"), but it's still quite close. I wonder if it's a case of convergent evolution or if they had some influence on each other at some point in history. One would think it might be related to the era of Spanish rule in the Netherlands (like how Spanish usted, Portuguese você and Dutch u are all analogous to each other) but the construction "I find" for expressing opinions is not found in Spanish.
Hi Isabel, I was just reading some older comments. I don't know if you've seen it already, but I uploaded a video on that topic a few days ago. Hope you like it!
Love the lessons!! Only problem I'm having is "ig". Is it pronounced...like -ich- in German or ish in fish or is the ch pronounced like the -h in huge ? Dank je 😁👍
I think this house is nice Ik vind dit huis is aardig Ik vind dit huis mooi Ik vind de weer in de zomer aangenamer dan in de herfst I think the weather in summer is much better (nicer; more agreeable) than in autumn. I think Dutch is easy Ik vind (het) Nederlands is makkelijk Ik vind Nederlands een moeilijke taal I think Dutch is a difficult language Ik vind dit house mooi om te zien I think this house 🏠 is beautiful to look at (to see) Ik vind appels lekker om te eten I think apples are tasty (tastes good) to be eaten (to eat) I think it's difficult to do Ik vind het moeilijk (om) te doen
I mean in the previous , i was asking about two topics : what exactly can I use instead of but like: I want to swim but my hand is broken , or the distance is so far . And the use of to do ,, alstublief
Hi, in that case you can just use 'maar': Ik wil zwemmen, maar mijn hand is gebroken. Or: Ik wil zwemmen, maar het is te ver. It works the same as 'but' in English. I hope that answers your question. If not, let me know!
Hallo Niels... U are making such a nice videos, very easy to understand.. I have a query for one of your sentence, why is it - ik vind Nederlands gemakkelijk and not - ik vind Nederlands makkelijk??? Thank you 😊
Ik vind het gemakkelijk om "vinden" in verschillende zinnen te gebruiken want in de Verenigde-Staten gebruiken we "vinden" dezelfde als "denken"...we kunnen deze twee woorden wisselen...vind ik!
I just want to point out the irony at 4:25 ish "Ik vind hem een slechte leraar" Text on the screen "Ik vind dat een slechte leraar" (You're not a bad teacher)
Hi Aaron, good question. In this case, only OM TE is correct. Using only TE is limited to a few situations: There are a few verbs that can take te + infinitive, like hopen, wensen, proberen, beslissen, durven... (most of the other ones you'll use less often). For example: Ik hoop de wedstrijd te winnen. When combining staan, zitten, hangen, liggen + another action. For example: Ik zit te lezen (= I am reading, and I am sitting at the same time. Something that English can't do). Otherwise, in the situations described in my other video on OM TE, you can't omit the OM. For example, after adjectives (as in your example) you always use OM TE: Ik vind het leuk/spannend/gezellig/fijn om _XYZ_ te doen.
Makkelijk en gemakkelijk zijn allebei correct, zowel in gesproken taal als in geschreven taal. Voor sommige taalgebruikers is makkelijk de neutrale vorm en is gemakkelijk wat formeler, voor andere taalgebruikers is gemakkelijk de neutrale vorm en is makkelijk wat informeler.
Would be ok to say "I vind het leuk om te doen" , to expres that you like to do something? I understant that "graag" has to be used when expressing that you enjoy an activity, but how would you say you enjoy that activity without mention the activity itself, like in: "I like it" after doing something?
@@LearnDutchwithNiels Hi. Thanks for answering. I also learned "Dat bevalt me goed" to express it. I been told that "Ik vind het leuk om te doen" is more like a general statement and not as an answer to "how do you like it?". Both are correct, I guess.
