i just re-watched this video after seeing it for the first time a few months ago. i still feel like i learned so much from it the second time around (and once again i think i replayed about half of louis's moves so i could fully comprehend what he was doing). both louis and andy are such a pleasure to watch and listen to!

I've been doing this for a few years (infrequently) but just one armed climbs, I hadn't really thought about one legged too, good reminder for me to incorporate this again. Getting the right body positions and flow of your movements is so much more important when missing a limb but it feels super satisfying when you get it right

a similar exercise that's very good for spatial awareness/body positioning as well as being somewhat helpful for dynamic movement is to only allow yourself to have 3 points of contact at any time.

This video is so great! I've been bouldering since April, but due to nerve pain I don't always trust the strength in my right leg. I've been watching a lot of paraclimbers, and they give me such faith that I could still climb even with my broken body :)

I've spent weeks climbing on only one foot or the other due to my body hating me.... and it was much more of a route reading/core work out than dynamic. All the dead hangs, and I did knee smear with the off leg at least twice a route. However I'm one of those weirdos what climbs with ropes so the styles tend to be different.

@begeistrat
@begeistrat 4 года назад
Unrelated to this video perhaps, but what's the story behind Louis' obsession with push ups? Is there a system to why he does it after some attempts/problems?
@SummerSurgentGough
@SummerSurgentGough 4 года назад
Rickard Jacobsson he does it whenever he jumps down from a problem instead of down climbing!
@AndrewMacFarlane
@AndrewMacFarlane 4 года назад
Summer is right! Jumping down from the top of climbs isn't great for the body- after years the impacts can add up or cause injuries from awkward falls. Also, he integrates pushups into his session because he won't often take time after to do them, and working the pushing muscles is important for climbers who are predominantly pulling.
@begeistrat
@begeistrat 4 года назад
@@AndrewMacFarlane thanks, makes sense! And here I thought it was to punish lack of footwork or "cutting loose" too much. ;)
