I have loved Red Heart Yarn for many, many years, and I also am a crochet designer. The yarn is reasonably priced, easy to work with and I recommend no other brand. I have some blankets that are over 30 years old that are still good-I gave them to the cats but they enjoy them! They're a little thin but still in use! There hasn't been a bed in this house that didn't have a Red Heart Yarn spread on it. Also, if I am going to put a lot of hard work into a design and an article, I want good yarn that will last.
@@DAEDreamin I do as well. It holds up really well because it's so rough and stiff. I'll use it for pet beds and stuff like that though. It bugs me that the colors are so nice but the yarn is so bad lol..
I'm gonna need one giant lint roller if I worked at that factory. I can imagine those wooly fibers getting stuck on you. You'll leave work looking like a wooly yeti each day.
❤I love this yarn. I live in UK, but first bought Red Heart Yarn whilst on a trip to Philadelphia 4 years ago. It's definitely the BEST... the quality, colors and texture is unbeatable. Thank you for this amazing video❤
There are several types of yarn, wool, cotton that can be utilized for specific purposes. Red Heart Yarn acrylic is great for making slippers, as the hold is stronger than a softer more stretchy type of yarn. Basic Red heart, the super saver are good ones for slippers. Also, it's all in how one stitches their yarn product. My mother made afghans years ago using Red Heart brand and the afghans are still holding up. For those consumers that are having problems with Red Heart acrylic yarns, use the yarns for their purpose. Washing garments or blankets in the correct lukewarm to cool temperature, and air drying or very low fluff heat in a dryer helps to keep the yarn products long lasting.
Red Heart is the best stuff...I have an afghan my grandma made from it over 35 years ago & it still looks beautiful! And I have washed it many, many, many times...
I am a huge fan of Red Heart Yarn(It is my favorite yarn brand)! This video was simply fantastic! To be able to see how my yarn is made was a real treat! Thank You! T =)
Such a great video! I love seeing how things are made, and especially when it's something I love like yarn! The Double Stitch Twins are just awesome :)
Red Heart yarn used to be the ONLY yarn I would ever knit with, but now it is so scratchy and rough. I can't even use it anymore. I REALLY wish the company would listen to their consumers and go back to the way it used to be when it was soft and a joy to work with.
they should make a yarn that is 50percent cotton & 50 acrylic or wool or wood fiber like bamboo or some other type of wood fiber to make it softer & much more environmentally better than using acrylic-which is a fossil fuel to begin with & is NOT a sustainable product of the earth!!
Well it's sad cause here in El Paso,Tx All Wal - Marts has one half 1/2 row of yarn . And some of us don't have time to order or use a computer. I love your yarn
I am not a crocheter, yet I learned crafting in school, I can't remember exactly though they might of tried to teach us crocheting in Home EC class and Red Heart might be the brand we used, I have bought Red Heart before and Loved it!
@lar072857 what companies usually do is they also make other products such as carpets and curtains. for cotton production factories they make things like qtips, cotton balls, etc from the rejects. (learned it in school the other day! :D)
Using Crude Oil to make Yarn is not sustainable do you have a longterm sustainable solution to keep your business going and to create yarn like using cotton, silk or wool or at least in part @Redheart
you are absolutely correct-using crude oil is a fossil fuel in the raw & cannot be regrown like wool or cotton can which is environmentally better & biodegradable & also feels better on the skin naturally. I heard that they can make yarn from bamboo wood
Why did he said that, now I am look for different yarn, cruel oil? Next to my skin? I have cut down on plastic use,I brought the aluminum straw last week.
It isn't just Red Heart. Most acrylics use oil. This is nothing new, how could you not know? When gas prices were rising so were the prices of acrylic yarn.
HI I am addicted to Yard I go to MICHEAL I am like a kid in a candy store LOL ,this was so amazing I would love to go there one day to see them make yarn I love all the color I have seen on here.
Cherrell Tarver My husband fusses occasionally about my leftover "hoard" of yarn. One time I took all my pieces and made a queen size spread from it! Leftovers are good for colorful granny squares, and he fussed because I bought more yarn, black, for the borders. He told me scrap afghans shouldn't require more yarn! What does he know? LOL!!!
please explain why there is knots inside the yarn doing a project>> knots>> hate that but it is nice to see the pull yarn out of the middle of the yarn thks for that
I only use Red Heart but sometimes it is frustrating. Some are heavier (especially the darker colors), some are quite light and they often aren't wound tight enough. I would sure like to know why there are such discrepancies but I can't get a response from the company. Anyone here have any input? I'm thinking of switching to another Coats and Clark product but I like the price and color selection of Red Heart. Besides, I have a lot of it! Such fun to see how things are made.
Dear Red Heart Yarns, Please produce a line of blacklight reactive yarns. Not just variegated yarn, but skeins of solid colors of varying shades of the 6 main colors. Thank you.
fine and dandy for all you I'm just gonna use wool bla bla bla well for many of us we are Allergic to wools and wool blends in my case if near my skin it feels like millions of needles are sticking into me..I can't even work with it to make projects for others. i do agree if you don't bump up your game to at least rh Love or better it can be so stiff and scratchy it won't even move thorough your fingers be it knit or crochet..blankets do last I must say and still most cost effective for us wallet challenged humans..
Oh my goodness, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video on how Red Heart acrylic yarn is made. I would love to see the process if how the bulk fibers are made before it arrives to the Albany facility. This is really interesting. What happens to the yarn that doesn't weigh enough and gets rejected? Do you throw it out or just add more yarn to the spool to make it the correct weight? Informative video but I still have so many questions. 🧐
I LOVE Red Heart yarn! I make yarn tails, and seeing how it's combed and becomes fluffy, I guess im reversing the process by brushing it and making it fluffy again! but I have a quick question, what is the different kinds of yarn made of? just acrylic? because any time I make a tail and start brushing yarn, I start sneezing.
Hi, The exact composition varies by yarn. Super Saver is 100% acrylic. If you go to our website you can see the breakdown by percent for what all of the different types of yarn are made of. www.redheart.com/yarn
I have never used a yarn ball winder. I've become handicapped and cant wind by handcand couldn't use a crank hand ball winder. Im trying to find the most inexpensive but yet reliable electric winders. Any suggestions there? Also I dont buy hanks of yarn, usually red heart skeins, the cheapest one. I cant find any one who knows how to undo one of these seinscto go on a yarn swift. Can you help me?
@lar072857 I was wondering that same question. I wonder if the rejects are sold under another name?? (one of the lesser quality companies/brands perhaps??? Sure do wish that someone from Red Heart would answer that question. Great video. Love the yarns.
Do you treat your yarn with pesticides to keep insects out? I am now getting a terrible rash on left arm, some on right arm and a little on my face and neck.
+butterflywings3 Elkins Hi, Sorry to hear about your reaction! We do not treat our yarn with pesticides. A particular ball or skein of yarn may have been exposed after it left our facilities, but we have no information about that.
I love this yarn but its so hard to get out go buy it when u stuck in bed i have fibromyalgia and crocheting is therpy for me it makes me happy and red heart is the only brand i use
Red heart yarn can I order the yarns for you because every time I go to Walmart to get some yarn someone stealing the yarn off the bolt so I get less yarn that way
Hi Norma, Thanks for asking! The solid colors in E300 are made from colored fiber which we purchase from various fiber suppliers; the color is a part of the fiber itself. Our multicolors are dyed using dyes that have been tested and found to be non-allergenic.
+Elaine Kentner I'm sure it's not wasted. The Spinrite factory in Washington, NC had a tent sale last spring selling discontinued or imperfect(skeins not at full retail size/weight). Hopefully Red Heart has an outlet sale at their factory from time to time.
