Richard says it all, I am sure you are really busy with those things not to mention family time, just so you know, speaking for all of us aspiring artists, thanks for taking the time to make these vids, I paint only for myself and give away my art to anyone who wants it. But I'm retired and it's not an income for me. You are a young working artist with family and I appreciate you sharing your talent with us. I have learned so much from watching your instructional videos.
Hi Billy thank you so much for your comment and kind words , it is humbling to know that you find my videos helpful really appreciate it . All the best 👍🏻
Looking great already, I did a similar one and my daughter claimed it before it was finished, she now displays it proudly on her wall. I did enjoy this tutorial, as it brought back some memories and my mistakes.
Thanks Doug glad you enjoyed Part 1 and Eagles are so much fun to paint, Part 2 will be coming soon as well as more tutorial videos from this project 👍🏻
Was there a referrence image to follow this projecr? I would like to follow one of these tutorials that are very simplified as yours is, Thanks. BTW what an awesome portrait, they are so majestic.
I'm still learning how to airbrush and was wondering what is the best gun for detail work. I'm no pro, so I'm far from that. I just have a Grex for right now, I use for customizing shoes. But I do want to learn how to detail better. Awesome work👍🏾
Thanks for your comment the right airbrush is definitely personal preference and even the way they feel in your hand can be a factor to whether or not you like a particular brand. If I would suggest a particular iwata brush I would recommend the HPCS eclipse as it’s reasonably priced and it can still achieve really fine details if you thin your paint and reduce your air pressure to get optimal performance. Hope that helps 👍🏻
Nice advice on the paint viscosity and thinning. I have been wondering about if I should just make my own or use the paint brands own. The real question is...if they do not have one and it is an acrylic type paint, what do you use to thin it with for airbrush? I want to try and use Anitas Paint, mainly because it is cheap @ $.79 per 2oz bottle and not over priced @ $8 USD for a 1oz bottle. Here is the breakdown for the paint as by the manufacturer.."Anita's Acrylic Craft Paint is a high quality, water based paint for indoor and outdoor craft use and decorative painting. It can be used on wood, artist's canvas, plaster, clay, metal, fabric, bisque and more. It's also quick drying, permanent and non-toxic and cleans up easily with soap and water." So I would assume that I use water to thin it out for canvas or fabric work. I have yet to go purchase a bottle but I plan on doing that after work tonight for testing.
Thanks for your comment and I unfortunately can’t give you any info on the Anita paint as I have never used it. One thing I would say is that you should run it through some tests to see if it suits what you would like to do and make sure that it runs smoothly through your airbrush, I would recommend using their own brand of reducer to better help performance and reduce tip dry, if they don’t have their own reducer then you could try Createx High Performance reducer - amzn.to/2M8hbNM (affiliate link) this product works well with a variety of brands. All in all, remember you do get what you pay for...also, keep in mind that the airbrush atomizes really fine so you won’t use lots of paint especially once thinned 👍🏻 Hope that helps
Could not find the link for supplies can you send me the type of paint and reducer brand...i have used frisket can you tell me how you usually mask for larger paintings or do you just freehand. Thanks ahead of time.
Trident Airbrush Paint with their reducer , visit dna-paints.com for more info or our website airbrushasylum.com.au if you are located in Australia 😉👍🏻
Trident paint is waterbased and thinned using their reducer . I recommend using a reducer instead of water as most have slipping agents in them to help with tip drying and also if you add water you compromise the paints structure.
