I finally put my walking foot on my machine. The heavens have opened and the angels sang. I have had my machine almost two years and have struggled. Fear is a powerful emotion. I can’t believe the change. I just started watching your videos. Hopefully will be able to make the Pom Pom hat in the near future.
LOVE these hats! SO easy and ADORABLE! Made 2 for 8 & 10 year old girls and added a fur pom pom. Will be making the fingerless fleece gloves too. Just shrunk the free pattern down to 80%. Your video(s) are very easy to follow. Thank you :-).
Thanks for watching!! You will have a slight opening at the top when you gather the opening. There is another video on the channel with a similiar shape but I put a cordlock or toggle on the elastic, leave it longer with the ends tied in a bow, and then you can open the top to create a neckwarmer or face cover that you can adjust with the elastic and cordlock. Here is the other video ...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yKkbLFjeLbc.html
Hello...I just found u I'm glad to do it because I love this easy creation from u will subscribe to your channel cause is so interesting...keep doing the good job 😉
There is another video on the channel with a hat shape he might like ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6s9g8mmaFYs.html You will measure his head around the head just above the ears and just above the eyebrows. Take that measurement and follow the directions in the video. If you don't want it too baggy on the top you can cut a square and just remember that the stretch is the part that will go around his head and the less stretchy part is the part that you will sew together for the seam.
Thank you Ruby .... there is also a sewing pattern for this hat that is in another video with a neckwarmer. The paid sewing pattern is in three sizes and included pages of written instructions. Looks like you don't need that extra help! So glad are happy with the tutorial!! Tori
@@rubydelgado9742 It would be the seam that goes up the back of the hat, long seam. The other seam is going to be sewn after. After the first seam, the hat should still be stretchy in the tube that is now is. If it won't stretch, then you have sewn the wrong two sides together. I hope that helps. My brain is a bit tired tonight with sewing orders!
Thank you for all these great and fun tutorials. You make me feel like I can sew anything!! I am curious to know what kind of sewing machine you use to sew fleece... Is a heavy duty sewing machine better for sewing fleece? And what kind of needles do you use when sewing with fleece? Thank you!
Hi Patricia ... I have a hat business so I use an industrial machine ( Juki and a Jack) because they are most reliable and can handle the load. I have friends who have businesses and still work on home style machines however. Most of them rave about how much they love their Janomes ... particularily the 1600p, Two of my sewing friends rave constantly about that machine. It might be discontinued but is a good bet as a second hand machine apparently. You want one with a metal based operating system rather than plastics. There are some good singers and brothers on the market that are built tough, without too many frills. As far as needles go, i would use the blue tip if I am using my portable for knits but I never change the type of needle in my industrials which are the middle of the road. General purpose needles for Juki.
So want to do directional print which way would you do the print and assume you would have to add seam allowance and sew tube together, I would do one side solid so print on top .
You want this to have two different colors? Do I have that right? I would sew the two colors together across that edge that is going to wrap around your head, the join would be horizontal in line with your eyebrows etc .... Now you have a long piece with it changing color in the middle. Once you close up to the open ends, your seam joining the two pieces would be on the edge of the bottom of the hat. Without a cuff that would be going right across your forehead as a double layer hat. If you want to jazz it up, you could move those joining seams so say the bottom seam is up at the 2 inch or 5 cm mark from the bottom and that would also push the top seam down into the inside of the hat by the same amount. Keep rotating that seam until you are happy with the way the cuff will turn up etc. Then do that seam at the top where you will do the elastic part and your mix of fabric placement will be held in place. I hope I explained that okay!!! Have fun playing with your custom design!! You got this! Tori
I just use an average needle for my industrial machine. I have used the blue point needles for my portable home machine for jersey knits and fleece before but 99.9 percent of the time I sew with my industrial machine.
@@dtharge4082 I only change my needle if it is bent or broken. My machine works for me but you will need to experiment and use the needles recommended for yours. I use a stitch length between 3 and 4
