I just love your videos.. When the world finally wakes up and realizes that it's our food that's our real medicine it will be because from the people like you. Your AWESOME
I often use lemon or orange juice (organic, of course) and that I press out from fresh produces. It also soften the cale and I dont get the calories from any oil ❤
With all due respect, you do not fully understand what it is you are actually doing -- and more importantly what you are NOT doing. The entire reason why you "massage" kale is to break the plant's cell walls so that the cells release an enzyme which causes a compound called Isothiocyanate to be created. This is the same compound produced in much larger quantities when the cell walls of horseradish are broken, and which produce that strong heat that takes your breath away. Regardless of which technique you use to break the kale's cell walls, once you have done so you must then RINSE AWAY THE ISOTHIOCYANATE from the kale itself. Without this, you are just leaving it on the kale and eating it! So agitate it in cold water after massaging and then give it a good spin in your salad spinner to remove the majority of the water. By the way, the very best way to massage kale is to cut in as you want to cook it, roll over it with a rolling pin using moderate pressure, toss it, then roll over it again. Just don't forget to rinse it!
Hi can you show SOS free please. Dr. Esselstyn recommends no oil and no salt (and no sugar of course) for heart diseases. So adding oil will negate the benefits of eating kale.
Great video, thanks, but please consider dropping the music. It's really distracting. Great chefs and teachers don't add music. If content if excellent, like yours, it alone easily holds the attention.
I enjoy what you're talking about, but you are so far away. When you held your bowl up, I couldn't really see it. So bring your camera closer to you so we can see what you're doing. And yeah, why everybody puts music in with cooking shows I don't know. It's just something I don't want to listen to. I want to see and hear the person. Thank you for what you're doing.
Cool video but kale sucks. It isn’t that good of a vegetable. I don’t care how many health guru’s tell me it’s good it’s just not. Broccoli is superior in all aspects. A chopped broccoli, cranberry salad with nuts, grilled, steamed, and baked is all great options. Let’s stop trying to convince ourselves kale tastes good. 😮
