Great analysis, Bart. My logic would be this. If I was willing to get it all in pre-flop with QQ, there is nothing on the Board that should change my view. If villain is slow playing AA or KK, I’m losing no matter what. If villain is playing 88 or A4, A5, lucky them. But maybe I’m not smart enough to find a fold with that board.
@qazzaqstan
@qazzaqstan Год назад
While I don't tend to like the logic of if I was willing to do X on prior streets no cards that came should change that, here you just beat way too much of villian's range going into the river that they only need to be playing a small percentage of that strangely to make an easy call especially with diamonds missing. They only have 9 logical value bets here from what I can tell (yes KK AA and 67s will very occasionally show up but it is rare) 44, 55, 65dd, A5dd, A4cc, A4hh, 88 x 3, they just have way too many other hands here that could be turned into weird bluffs or strange overplays with JJ (or even TT apparently though unclear what villain was doing there if they were telling the truth) that we can find 5 combos of bets we beat which puts us priced in and honestly I'm expecting to be good here over 50%
@shawnchouinard268
@shawnchouinard268 Год назад
Thats exactly what I put him on. 10s or JJ. These players get scared on the river and just decide "Fuck it, I'm gonna go with this hand if he has me beat he has me beat I'm not folding anyway". Which if you look at it is interesting here because it's one of those merge bets that Bart talks about. Worse hands like Ax diamonds or Ace high could potentially (yes its a stretch) call, or he could get bigger over pairs to fold (which is also a stretch to me, but many of these players at this level are ultra tight and play scared). It's an interesting spot. With QQ I'm always bombing river or calling and if he's got it, hallelujah pay the man. Nice video call in.

Paused before the river to think about sizing. I think I downbeat again for about $160, 1/3 pot with a likely bet call line. Betting 2/3+ seems terrible because you can’t really bet fold but they don’t have many bluffs left you’re mostly just calling into the teeth of better hands and you get all the value from 1/3 with calls like 8x. The 1/3 sizing gives them room to bluff at the end as well and call with worse. Edit: lol, effective stack totally wrong, totally fucks any analysis before this point. Bad error. Well I’m snapping that shove off with all the dead draws. Edit edit: lol no, the takeaway is not call in Florida, it’s that this is a huge call.

There is a big difference between Queens and Kings. Kings heavily blocks Ace-King, and Queens does not. I think AK is the perfect hand for the villain to bluff with here because it blocks both AA and KK. It's not too likely that the hero is going to check back the river if he's got a hand worse than AK (worse than any Ace because the board is double paired), so the villain shouldn't really be checking AK hoping that the villain checks it back and that he can chop or win the pot.

I agree with the bet size complaints on flop and turn, but for the river, I strongly think this is a fold against an unknown. 1. UTG raise (strength) 2. UTG calls 3bet (not necessarily capped if Villain is tight, some people flat to trap with AA/KK) 3. Checks-calls low board. Tank is potentially to think about raising. 4. Check-calls low board again. Tank is potentially to think about raising. 5. Leads all in, against someone who has bet twice on a very dry board. - Pocket pairs we are beating: 99, TT, JJ would not do step 5. If Villain though hero was bluffing/drawing, then they should let hero bluff again on the river (since none of Villain's river value bets would do anything). If Villain thought hero was value betting, then they should definitely NOT shove into a better hand. - Missed flush draws are few in number (UTG raise + call 3bet, removes a ton of the lower flush draws, mainly leaving only Ax). - Very few missed straight draws (only possible ones on the flop, 76s and 56s got there) All of these scream 88, Aces, or Kings that decided to play trappy, then rush to get all the money in on the river. Only reason to call, if we look at an exploitative standpoint, is that Villain is a fish. And if Villain was talking strategy the entire night, then they are much more likely to be fish. My experience is 10NL online, so maybe that is different from live where people are more gamble-y? I think most fish (besides maniac fish) would be content to check-call (all in) on the river with 99+, and only lead shove with QQ+.
@kinggrantking
@kinggrantking Год назад
I'm a moron, so I probably couldn't find the fold, but I think you're right in that folding here isn't out of the question. UTG has to be pretty much the worst player of all time to play AK like this, which, hey, it's Florida, might be a real possibility. But just putting them on Ax sans any other knowledge of the player isn't smart. Why could they not have 88? AA? KK? 44? Which one of those hands *couldn't* play like UTG? Answer is probably none of them. In fact, I probably soul-read UTG as having KK. I still call though.

I like Villain’s shove here but not for the reasons he stated. If I’m villain and I have 10’s or JJ’s here, and I know I’m calling the river regardless, then lead out and maybe you’ll get a fold by QQ’s thru AA with the pot size All in. Hero has to call here. He is getting 2-1 on a call so he needs to be good around 33% of the time. Villain has 88’s, 2 A4s combinations which makes his shove look legit. Have to call though!!

And you definitely get called by AA, KK, 4x, 5x which you lose to. Is it just because of the pre flop play that he shouldn't have AA and KK? The other guy should basically never have AA or KK and should rarely have a 4 or 5. The hands that he could have gotten to the flop with that do contain a 4 or 5 are logically much less likely now that half of those cards are on the board (and therefore not in his hand). Also he likely would’ve raised at some point with a 4 and folded most of his 5s on the flop. A hand like JJ-99 and AK are just way more likely.

You could be called by 66-JJ, any Ax hand, or any 8x hand.
@tom-qj6uw
@tom-qj6uw Год назад
Since villain called a 3-bet he should not have many hands, so let us consider a rather narrow range of QQ-77, AK, AQ, AJs. You lose to 88 and split with QQ and win against the rest. Which hands will call though? Since Ax is splitting with AK it might be all of them or it might be only QQ, JJ, TT, 88. But even in the latter case you lose against 3 hands, split one and win against 12! If you consider a wider range it gets more interesting, since you suddenly get a lot of calls by 8x, 99 but also 76s, A4s and possibly A5s. You also get al lot more calls of A-high (If you play a loose range pre-flop you sort-of have to get more sticky post-flop since otherwise you would fold too much on flop, turn and river).
@ImperiumLibertas
@ImperiumLibertas Год назад
UTG has a very tight range. Usually the only relevant hands in his range would be A5, AA, KK, QQ. A5 is usually a semi bluff to keep your range unpredictable in the early position. He doesn't have very many missed flush or straight draws in his range. He's definitely representing A5 but doing it poorly since he didn't bet the 5 on the turn. He also didn't 3 or 4 bet so it is also very unlikely he has AA, KK, etc. At least that's how I see it, I'm very new to poker.

Maybe ina big game like hustler vs Garrett n others that are competent n have broader range. 2-5 this is a call 99x100

Caller: “his effective stack was lower than mine” 😂 Also caller: I call with black queens bc I don’t block the flush draw. I couldn’t find any bluffs so I folded. 😂 Doesn’t know what effective stack means but understands blocking properties

For some reason the way he said what his hand was, was the most obnoxious thing I’ve heard in a while.

I just realized why I get bored with your videos. They're too slow. You went over and over the same material. I start feeling like I'm wasting my time. You're good. Please pick up the speed so we can learn more.

The 1 time you call and he has 1010 is way less frequent then the 99 times he has a 4 or 5. At 2/5 when people shovel money in the pot they have it, the vast majority of the time. Maybe if its some young arab splashing around you call but this is an exploit fold all day.
