Thank you for this video!! My daughter put her car in a ditch in a snowstorm and snapped the shaft right out of her power steering pump!! Your video was perfect, a great help!! I really appreciate your thoroughness and detail!! :) :)
So I got bad pump. Leaked all over the place. Just got swapped it out and hopefully this one is good. Again man I appreciate how you show step by step! Helped out a lot!!
Great Video. I will have to replace my Power Steering Pump in the next few weeks. Seeing you do the job has given me the knowledge about the best way to go about doing the work
So I’m having trouble getting the pulley all the way down. It’s tough. Any tricks making it easier with a loaner tool like what you have? Thanks great video!!!
Once the pump is out you have easy access to the oil pressure sensor on the oil filter adapter. These often go out on the trailblazer. Heck, since you're already dirty you might as well do an oil change since the filter is right there.
Third video I watched on how to replace the PS Pump and it was by far the best! I have no doubt I can do this now. Thank you for taking the time to make the video and post it. PS I liked the music :)
i have a 05 trailblazer that needs a new pump. I have an 03 trailblazer also. so where I'm just swapping them . would I need the pully puller. I figured yes to install back to my car. but figured I'd ask. the U.S. for your time. also your video was very helpful. keep doing what your doing
You only need the pulley puller if you plan on taking the pulley off. If you're just doing a straight swap with pump and pulley, then you are in luck and you don't need the puller tool.
My 04 envoy started whining yesterday but its not hard for me to turn my wheel but I definitely know its the power steering but I noticed that the pulley was loose and was wondering if that meant the pump was bad or if I just needed to just replace the pulley instead of the entire pump?
If you hear whining that is an indication that your pump is going out. If the pulley is also wobbling you might want to just replace both at the same time.
Old question but thought I would answer for anyone looking in the future. Same thing happened to me and I needed to replace the whole pump and pulley. And in my situation had to replace the reservoir because the leak started in the reservoir, I waited to long and burnt out the ps pump. And then waited too long after the pump burnt out and caused damage to the pulley, and waited too long causing the serpentine belt to snap. Dumb, yes I know.
At Autozone, they have a program where they loan their tools to you. I just told them what car I was working on and that's the kit they gave me, but to my knowledge most pulley kits are universal. You're welcome, and thanks for watching.
Tyrone Reevers my power steering is whining weeks before it went out. Then one day as I was driving down the street it completely went out and it was extremely hard to turn. You can check it on the car to see if it's going out by simply taking the serpentine belt off and rotating the power steering pump pulley in your hand. If it's anything wrong you will feel it.
oxmanagain Thanks that was one thee best step by step A to Z video.I am having oil leak thu the power steering pump & im loosing oil prusher so do u need to change that pump? Please help I have alot of the car taken apart already.
Seriously! Great vid except for that distracting S music. It's NOT needed and makes it hard to hear you and focus on what you're doing. Thanks for the great guide. Please leave the music out!
