Well done...simple, clear explanation. I'm a language teacher myself and this is the easiest way I've seen for learning the numbers in Chinese. The visual aspect is important and the repetition really works well.
+Eva Easton Thank you so much Eva! It's really nice to know from a language teacher that you also think it's the easiest way to learn the Chinese numbers and the repetition is work. It's such a great encouragement to me. Thank you again!
This has to be the most thorough teacher on the planet. I like this style because it leaves the student with no questions left at the end. It take patience with the repetition but the lesson will stick.
If you want to really learn Chinese, then use David Qing's channel. Forget all the other flashy girls with perky smiles. This takes work, and David is great. I'm a teacher of foreign languages and I can say David is an excellent teacher and the graphics are very well done! Cheers, David!
Nobody does it better than this teacher. I counted numbers 1 to 10 to a Chinese man living in China and he told me I spoke better than some Chinese natives.
你好! Thank you so much for ALL your comments and feedback! it's a big encouragement to me. It's good to know how you think about my videos and teaching. I appreciate that.
David, I think your coverage from 0 to 9999 is plenty for most of us for now. On a practical basis, there are other areas we would like to see introduced like asking for directions, simple phrases during shopping, at restaurants, getting a taxi, even asking where the washroom is - key communication that tourists can use.
You're really good! You made it so simple. I'm learning with Tutorming, paying hundreds of dollars, and they don't explain it well at all. You're a much better teacher than any of their teachers. Thank you.
+Choo Choo Rosenbloom I am glad this video helps you. For learning Mandarin Chinese numbers, I think it's efficient with this method " digit- unit" sequence. That can save you a lot of time. Thank you for the kind words and visiting my channel. :-)
+Choo Choo Rosenbloom I definitely agree with you. I'm completely them before the answer comes up because he made it so easy. I'm going to make a few charts from his lessons to put up in my room
Thank you for this brilliant upload. This video is so good that learning Mandarin is real fun and I believe I can learn. Thank you so much David for sharing with us. Excellent graphics. Taking Mandarin course did not help me much. They are fast and non productive. Your time spacing is fantastic.Thank you again.
shibani155 Yes! You are right! You really can learn it very well! I am very glad this video makes you believe it! When you learn Mandarin Chinese, it is better with your pace and choose and learn what you will really use in your life at first. Later, just based on what you learned before to learn more, you will have a big progress. I like to share my knowledge and method to make people really believe Mandarin Chinese is not as hard as they think. Thank you for watching this video! :-)
Man, I remember when I watched that video in 2013 ! I still have my book with the notes on it. Best teacher ever on RU-vid ! I thought he stopped uploading videos
你好! It's good to know that you still have the book with the notes. :-) This video was the first big project in my channel. I am glad it helped some people. Thank you for your kind words.

It's great to get your feedback to let me know you like this lesson and it's really a help to you. I did spend so so much time on making this video and felt exhausted from that. Every comment makes me have the motivation to make more new lessons. By the way, I will upload a new lesson about telling the time in Mandarin Chinese. I hope it will help you too. Very impressive, thank you very much for your hard work, my 6 year old daughter loves the lesson. She is very keen to learn Chinese but hiring a teacher is so expensive so I want to make sure she knows some basic Chinese before get the teacher for her.
Manee Honest You are welcome! I am surprised that your 6-year-old daughter loves it since I think the lessons I made are bored. :-p It's nice you make her learn some basic Mandarin Chinese before getting the teacher. That may help her get into the class easily. I believe your daughter can learn it very well with her passion. :-)
Hey, you're great! I was just hanging around listening to the video; then when you said "test" I tried it just for fun and I got all answers correctly!!! Great pedagogical approach. Love it!!!
Thank you for the videos!!! I have always wanted to learn how to speak Chinese. I need lots of practice still but I am learning a lot. Please keep the videos coming.
hi David, keep on uploading so that people can enjoy. I found yr videos useful, but don't let me wait for your new ones long =)). where r u from in China, David? can I speak Mandarin thru Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mangolia, and Mainland China? thank you.
I like your video. Easy to understand. Clear pronunciation. Hope you can upload more video. I want to learn Mandarin language..where should I start first..from number..is that okay?
Very well done. I've enjoyed watching it and your other counting videos a lot. Thanks for the great explanations. Now I just need to practice. I just wish that I had seen your videos before I went to China in March.
I really liked the test in the end. To hear and realise I understand mandarin gives me more motivation! Can you recommend good movies/tv-series in mandarin? I remember The Simpsons helped me a lot when I didn't know any english
Thank you for tell me that you like the test at the end. For the recently Chinese movies, I like "捉妖記 Monster Hunt" and "我的少女時代 Our Times". There is a famous but old tv-series named "流星花園 Meteor Garden". Maybe you can also try it.
Hallo sir... I am from Bangladesh.. you are really very good teacher.. I need scholership in Chinese language for my study. I understand your all vedios.. I like it Soo much.. please make more more more vedios..

Haha yeah teacher check it well; if I find out a mistake I'll go to China and teach in your place haha~ kidding ^^ i'm sure if you upload it right now ,it will be perfect, but please Teacher, take your time editing your videos if i watch it before or after the school, it does't matter, your lessons will always be my favorites :)
Yeah thanks to you :) Oh, nothing to be sorry about it's a small mistake, you can always correct it with youtube like adding annotations or something, besides your lessons are great so this mistake is just so tiny that it couldn't be count :3 I'm looking forward the next lesson :D Good luck.
This video is really helpful, I can say now that Chinese numbers are not difficult at all, I kept taking notes that I learned how to write numbers in mandarin chinese and I'm really happy with that wuhuuuu :D But , another stupid question here T-T In one of your lessons you said the characters that can be toned are a-e-i-o-u-Ü, and you said that they are also toned by priority, how come the word qian (thousand) is toned with the 'i' and not the 'a',from what I understood 'a' take the priority
Hi, David. I love your videos and i am really learning fast from it. I will be very glad if you can upload videos that will let me learn more about office and factory registered words and languages for effective communication with my Chinese colleagues. xie xie lao shur
Hello Abdulkadir Tunde Lawal. You are welcome! So far I focus on making the lessons about the lessons related to numbers like Year, Month and Day, Days of the week, telling the time..., etc. It may take long time to go that far on office and factory words and languages. I suggest you can focus on the basic words at first. That may have a great help for your current and future learning.
Thank you for this video, I've watched your lesson very carefully, and I must say that you are a very gifted teacher. However I don't get the exercise correction of numbers 1210 and 714. Shouldn't we avoid saying "YI SHI" in both cases? Thank you.
Hi! Sorry for my late reply! I am a little busy for the New Year. Thank you for watching my lessons and the kind words. :-) For your question, 1210 is yì qiān liǎng bǎi yī shí. 714 is qībǎi yī shí sì. You can NOT omit "yīshí " in these two cases 1210 and 714.
Thanks very good lesson. However, on the rule for number 2 when it's in the 4th red circle, how come they use Liǎng sometimes, for example when you order 2 cups of tea? Liǎng bēi cháshuǐ
behestelah Thank you for watching this lesson. For the using of the number 2, the basic concept is: (1) When it is used in "counting" the numbers "in a sequence" from 0 to 99, the pronunciation of 2 will be "èr". For example: February, Tuesday, The second place in the competition, which are in a ordinal sequence. (2) When you are expressing "how many" things you have or it has, the pronunciation of 2 will be "liǎng". For example: two cups of water, two tigers, two people, two pieces of paper that most of them have the measure words following with "2" I hope my explanation is clear for you. Feel free to ask if you still don't understand.
Questions here haha, since I'm watching that drama I just didn't get some points, would you explain it to me? 'Sorry' in Chinese? and the second question : what's the meaning of 'yes' and 'no' because I tried to concentrate on that but just it's a little bit complicated, it's not always the same words, for example to say no, they say 'Bu' and then another word, I just need a small explanation teacher ^_^ Thank you
