End of this lesson
Please pay attention to the information that this video doesn't provide as below.
Note 1:

For saying the large numbers from 10000 to over 9 quadrillion, you should pronounce the following small numbers in the green circle 0010, 0011, 0012, 0013, 0014, 0015, 0016, 0017, 0018, 0019 as below:
0010: líng yīshí
0011: líng yīshí yī
0012: líng yīshí 'èr
0013: líng yīshí sān
0014: líng yīshí sì
0015: líng yīshí wǔ
0016: líng yīshí liù
0017: líng yīshí qī
0018: líng yīshí bā
0019: líng yīshí jiǔ
Note 2:
For the character 兆zhào, there are some parts that you need to pay attention to:
In China:
Although there are still some people who use 兆zhào to represent the large number “1 0000 0000 0000”, it is NOT the official way to say 1 0000 0000 0000 in Mainland China.
Instead of 兆zhào , people in Mainland China use万亿 wàn yì to say 1 0000 0000 0000 in the official way.
In Taiwan:
People in Taiwan use 兆zhào to represent the large number “1 0000 0000 0000” in the official way.
In BOTH China and Taiwan:
The character兆zhào is also used to represent the prefix“Mega”or“M”which means 100 0000 in the International System of Units.
In Mainland China and Taiwan people often use 兆zhào to say things like Megabytes (MB), Megahertz (MHz) and Megapixels (MP).

I am glad you got it! It's not hard, right? Mandarin Chinese also has lots of more characters to describe the large numbers. Those characters Chinese people just seldom use it and most people don't know about it. In English, the most big unit I know so far is Quadrillion. :-p By the way, the large number 1,0000,0000,0000, 0000 (Ten Quadrillion) in Mandarin Chinese is called "京" jīng which I haven't used it in my life. :-) Also, in China, please you pay attention to this: In Taiwan, people use 兆 to say one Trillion. In China, people use 万亿 to say one Trillion. 万亿 literally means "ten thousand" "hundred million".

How come if you are learning Learn how to say numbers in Mandarin Chinese_Part 3: 10,000 to 9,999,999,999,999,999
@MandarinImpossible
@MandarinImpossible 7 лет назад
Sometimes people may need to use the large numbers when people talk about the price, the population or the distance. For instance, a vase may cost $12,000, and the population in China now is around 1,381,336,300. Once you know how to say these large numbers, then you can apply it in more topic related to the number which is over 10,000. :-)

So far I won't make part4 because Chinese people don't use such a big number in daily life. In this lesson, you learn three characters "兆", "億", "萬". If you are interested in another large number, you can learn another three characters, 京 jīng、垓 gāi、秭 zǐ. 京 means 1 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000. 垓 means 1 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000. 秭 means 1 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000, 0000.

+Chung David Hi! You have a very good question. There are five tones in Mandarin Chinese. For saying the third tone, it is tricky. The third tone is ALWAYS half spoken, EXCEPT when the third tone is at the end of a sentence or phrase. When the third tone is at the end of a sentence or phrase, it is fully spoken. That's why the number 9999 is pronounced like that. How does the third tone work when pronouncing each digit 9 in the number 9999? Each third tone for each 9 in "9999": (Jiǔ Half Spoken)- (Jiǔ Half Spoken)- (Jiǔ Half Spoken)- (Jiǔ Fully Spoken) Another example: How does the third tone work when saying the phrase "你好" nǐ hǎo? Each third tone for each character in the phrase "你好" nǐ hǎo: (nǐ Half Spoken)- (hǎo Fully Spoken)

Hi! You have a very good observation! the numeral "5" in Mandarin Chinese is pronounced with third tone which is "dipping tone + rising tone". Third tone is often half spoken unless it is at the end of the phrase. In all my videos, for a better presentation to my students, I all pronounce it as a full tone " dipping + rising".
