@@willardhawkinberry6018 Hi! I guess either making them or buying new ones would work either way! You can challenge yourself by making them, or if money is not a factor, you can buy some aftermarket. Thanks for watching!
Between you and Cechaflo, I'm going to be ok! I'm not a professional, but I'm getting good results on my car interior. I figured for the price of a used machine and some good old-fashioned succeeding and failure, I'd be ok! Thank you very much for doing this video. I will be making my sun visors very soon!
Alfonso said it all. We both are going to do fine with our upholstery projects. Thank you Richard. And thanks for your reply to me today. It meant so much to me. Fred.
Thanks for another lesson from the master. The old visors from the Trans Am are just cardboard, they will be re-done with chip board. I just replaced the window in a canvas top, I looked for a video from your channel but didn't see one. I took my time since I only had one chance to get it right and smiled when I headed around the last turn and headed down the home stretch. What a teacher you are, professor. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Hello Don, You are so welcome! I love hearing good news like this. It does take courage to dive into something and see it to the end. Just keep going, you can do this over and over again! Thanks for liking and watching!
Love watching someone who knows what they are doing work! I work with a group of girls who only mask campers for paint. It doesnt sound exciting but they make it look so easy.
@@oldschoolautoupholstery I will, you are teaching me a lot! I have a few projects that you will be responsible for me having a clue how to complete them.
I first saw your driver's seat repair and now an EXCELLENT job on the sunvisor! You make it look so easy. I will take your advice by getting extra inches added to block the sun better across the bottom edge. You are the man Rudolph. Thank you.
Hi Larry! WHen I make the visors for my personal vehicles, I do add more. Especailly because my wife is shorter and the sun is always in her eyes. Thanks for the kind words and please keep watching
Let’s see some of those Getti Customs door panel builds and seats! Man those were Awesome Rich! Loved the virtual Gallery! I would be hard pressed to say I’m not considering taking up sewing and seeing if I can follow a childhood dream of Upholstery work! Many thanks again from Houston!!
Hello Clayton in Houston, Now that takes me back almost 40 years. Getti Interior products. That was the style back then. I am so glad you can enjoy my memories with me. You can also enjoy doing upholstery any time you want. Just do it. Please keep liking and watching!
Never tried it b4 but w this vid i feel more then confident. I have built wearable 3d 6ft tall iron man suits out of cardboard .. Best video of this week by far. Deff followed w full bell. Cant wait to see the next 1
Hello J, I can see that you are very handy and creative, I am sure you can get this done! Plenty of more videos like this on my channel! Please keep liking and watching!
When I was viewing the thumbnail poses, I thought it was pretty funny too. So I included them at the end for an extra bonus to those who didn't click away.
¡Muchas gracias! No es un manual o curso de instrucción. Solo una forma divertida de señalar mis técnicas aprendidas durante 43 años. ¡Gracias por gustarle y vernos!
Hello Hi, Thank you so much for all of your kind words and wishes. I really appreciate it. Welcome aboard and thanks for the sub! Please keep liking and watching!
Just discovered your channel recently! Love your content, very easy listening/watching. Would love to start getting into upholstering! Keep up the good work mate!!
How can I make some seat covers for for deer season for a 2006 Trailblazer.... Temporary seat cover...... I'm glad I found your videos..... I would like it REAL TREE camouflage.
@@monkeeladee8638 That depends on the design of the mirror. Some are simply laid in like in this video. Others have to be disassembled by opening the clamshell-type plastic visors.. Once you start to pull things apart it should become apparent how the rest comes apart. You can do it!
Hi, loved the video. I’m going to redo my husbands truck visors. Can I do this with a regular sewing machine? If so what type of needles do I need. and what foot ? thinking walking foot? Thanks
Hello Crafty, Thank you so much! I think if your machine lift is high enough for the thick visor to fit under, not sure about the needles as I never use a home machine. A walking foot is always helpful. Please keep liking and watching!
Your video really helped me ...thank you so much....but you didn't list your products and where to buy? Where can I buy the foam board that I will use as a pattern? That information would really help. Love your channel.
Hello Cecilia, I get my materials from the same supplier for 43 years. Keyston Bros. They have several locations in the USA and they ship! Sorry, no Amazon links and nothing sponsored here, I pay for everything. Please keep liking and watching!
Hello Vicious, You are so welcome and thanks! Check out my glue video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2KzEb2ZvWzo.html Please keep liking and watching!
Hello Peter, Thank you so much! If you don't want a stitch, you can just use contact adhesive glue, not the stuff in the spray can. The stitching will keep things tighter though. Please keep watching!
You are certainly a master of your craft! Very professional, and that was a clear, and concise video. I reupholstered the head liner in my car with excellent results, but didn’t want to attempt the visors. I may get in touch with you if you are interested. I would be more than happy to send them along with the extra material.
I really appreciate the kind words. I still think that the sun visors you can do. Or seek help from someone in your area. Shipping costs are rediculous now.
Hi my question is 96 Cherokee XJ overhead counole The little tip that sticks out that snaps into the clip that is secure as the wiper in place to the roof has broke off my visor My visor is shorter than all the other regular XJ's without counsel mine does have a council how do I put that little nub back on so I can lock my wiper back in I'm afraid cut apart and I haven't been able to find those wipers anymore help please any information will be greatly appreciated thank you so much your video is awesome I'm getting a lot of ideas from watching and I heard you say you can make them any size you want and I ain't a really short
Hello 1Jim, Thank you so much for saying so! As far as the piece that broke off, I would drill out the center and insert a steel pin both sides. Then use super glue to glue it back together, or even plastic weld it. Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery I thought about that when it first happened and I had the the piece in my glove box so when I was able to I was going to repair it My vehicle got stolen it was a mint condition and I got it back a month later and of course well means to say I may have to try another option to repair that thinking maybe just pull apart a full size sun visor out of one of those Cherokee XJ's cut it down and cuz I need to redo the headliner and my visors and do something crazy but I liked your technique wow man I think me being a master certified automotive technician that's my calling this upholstery is definitely your calling I've been watching your videos wow and thank you for getting back to me so rapidly I have a body of mine his name is Paul Martinez we live in in Denver Colorado My buddy Paul and yourself share some of the same crazy zany facial expression keep up the good work my brother and thank you for being you stay safe and helping not only for yourself but for your family and for everyone you come in contact with I started smiling and talking to every morning and everyone I mean everyday I'm probably about four years ago and some people look at me cuz I am crazy and some people thank me cuz tomorrow is not guaranteed and you never know who's life you can affect so enjoy life have fun and I'm more than one thing never let you smile be changed by the world let your smile change the world ciao for now
Great job!!! I've watched several videos on how to do this, but your way is so much simpler and cleaner than all those other videos!! LOL, I did an old truck's visors as they were hanging down falling apart in my face. They look terrible, but they weren't in my face anymore!! !! LOL But after watching this, I think I can redo them and make them look decent! A big thanks!!!! Question, what walking foot machine are you using? Looks nice, and you do such a great job with it.
Hello Billy, Thank you so much! I use a Juki machine. You can also make them sewless by just glueing the two halves together. Pleae keep liking and watching!
@Old School Auto Upholstery Techniques was going to make a Joke but didn't think we had that kind of back and forth yet lol. I've watched a lot of your videos. I've done a few repairs myself using your video as a guide. I hand sew the repair which is time consuming. Thanks for the content
Oh, Great question! Well, we will always use #342 for the second visor, only because it just flipped because there is a left and right. Just so you all know, It has always been Technique #342
Thank you so much for all the knowledge of your craft, you are sharing!! I am trying to find the chipboard you use to make new sun visor for my truck but so far no luck, it seems no one wants to show on google what is the proper name and thickness of the smooth cardboard that is inside my original sun visor. Do you know all the specs? Thank you so much.
Hello Giannella, Try Keyston Bros. They have several locations in the USA and they ship. Or Google "uppholstery suppliers near me" Please keep liking and watching!
@Old School Auto Upholstery Techniques thank you so much for your reply. Could you please tell me what the thickness in ply is? 30 ply is too thick and stiff. Are you using 14 ply or the name of that cardboard is a specific one? Thank you
@@GiannellaBiggs Hello Gianella, Sorry to say that I don't know if there is a ply as I just order a "Chipboard" from my supplier. I don't order by size. Please keep liking and watching!
Man I been watching your videos religiously this weekend I'm a beginner here have u ever worked on lowrider car upholstery? Can you do some of those tutorials PLEASE haha
