Paschima - posterior or back of the body, WestsideUttana - intense stretch This pose is also known as Ugrasana - Fierce or powerful pose.
Spiritual References: This Asana is widely mentioned in many ancient texts like Shiva samhita, Gheranda Samhita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. It is mentioned very specifically as follows: "Knees straight, forehead on knees and hands on toes in a sitting position directs vital energy into the back especially in the sushumna Nadi which is responsible for spiritual awakening; the digestive power is increased and obesity is reduced. Man becomes free of disease and maintains the body in a healthy condition."
I do not recommend practicing this pose with knee bend as it hampers the progression in the Practice! It is always advisable to work more on standing hamstring stretch poses first for few months. Start the practice with strap with straight knee as shown in the video for few weeks. That way you still get half of the benefit of the pose with straight knee, straight spine and strong pelvic floor and core engagement!
Please make sure to practice 5 rounds of surya namaskara to warm up the body before attempting preparatory practices.

This isn't an easy pose as it seems. One will have to be regular and patient with the practice and the pose will happen to you one day :)
Benefits:
1. Paschimottanasana tones the abdominal organs and keep them free from sluggishness.
2. It tones kidneys, rejuvanates the spine and improves digestion.
3. It helps in massaging the spine and heart which feel refreshed and mind is rested.
4. It helps in regulating oxyganated blood towards pelvic floor which increases vitality, cures impotency and controls excessive sexual desire. Hence this asana was also called as Brahmacharyasana. Bramacharya's one of the meaning is celibacy.
Contraindications:
1. Recent abdominal surgeries
2. Back issues
3. High blood pressure
4. Heart Conditions
5. knee injury specially related to meniscus
