Complimenti ai creatori di questo canale ! Non sono un esperto di lingue, ma mi piace molto studiarle, in particolare la grammatica. Bisogna rivalorizzare la lingua siciliana. Credo che questo corso sia un ottimo punto di partenza.Forza Ragazzi!

Thanks for your channel. My father's family is from outside of Palermo. I've been wanting to learn Sicilian language but cannot find anyone to learn the basics from. I wish I could find a group to sit with and speak.

Maan so many variations of "I" in Sicilian! - great you pointed them all out...(Eu is like the same as in Sardinian and Romanian) - I say it as "Ju" -

I have noticed some similarities in sound between Portuguese and Sicilian. I have read that they have a common linguistic source from the ancient world, Carthaginian.
@spongeboblover7052

@@glittermamano they come from Latin
@glittermama
@glittermama 8 месяцев назад
@@spongeboblover7052 Yes; the vocabulary and much of the grammatical structure comes from Latin because they both are local versions of Latin in isolation; however, there are certain sounds and vowels that they have in common that are not Latinate. My first language is Sicilian, and, when I co-authored a translation of a book from Portuguese into English, I noticed these similarities.
@spongeboblover7052

maybe later berber and arabic speakers brought these (alongside the vocabulary of these 2 languages we find in it)@@glittermama
@glittermama
@glittermama 8 месяцев назад
@@spongeboblover7052 There are certainly many Arabic influences in Sicilian; there is even an Arabic dialect of Sicilian, probably extinct now. I remember reading, however, in an article focused on linguistics, that there was evidence of Carthaginian in the Sicilian, Portuguese, and Sardinian languages. But it's been quite a while since I've read anything about it, and I don't remember details. Sorry!! The western section of Sicily was under Carthaginian rule for quite some time, as was Sardinia, so it is logical that there are some linguistic remnants present.

Mi piaci assai sti video, graziiiiiiiiiii. Is there a chance of any Passato Remoto verb tenses videos being done soon, or am I pushing it?!? 🙏☺️
@PaulRausch
@PaulRausch 6 лет назад
We can totally work on that Fran. There are a few versions of the preterite (sicilian doesn't have passato remoto) in Sicilian so it might take a little preparation to do a good video though.

Paul Rausch hi Paul, there isn’t any one in particular, I’m interested in seeing some examples of the ari and iri regular verbs, their patterns and hearing them pronounced. Grazii assai 😁

I have heard "aiu." I'm wondering why you don't articulate the second "d" in "dd." This creates an "r" sound, which is very common in Sicilian I have heard (Provencia Palermo).
@czure94
@czure94 4 года назад
Isn't "aiu" is the "I" conjugation of Aviri?

@@czure94 It's been a while since I saw this video, so I don't remember what I was referring to. It seems as though I might have been discussing "I": ah ee' u. ??

Add a series where you only speak in Sicilian for 5 minutes straight. Your students can't get fluent without hearing whole conversations in Sicilian.😢
