He played that first fill on the rack tom only from what I’ve seen live while the band was around. The later videos of him recently playing it he uses the rack and floor as seen here. Interesting.

You are part of this 9/10. On the first part of the fill it’s a double with the kick not a low Tom and then mid Tom. But it’s a good alternative for those are are not good at doubles with the kick yet
Love me a good high hat chick beat. May not be your style of music but check out the shuffle on grapevine fires by Death Cab . Very interesting use of the high hat chick in a shuffle beat. Hard to hear but most drummers mess it up as well.
I like to think in this moment he returned himself back to the past for a little bit. Once you have that routine in you its in you, and hearing his voice while playing had to have felt really surreal for a moment, like he was still there in spirit (teen spirit lol had to)

If you don't put Dave Grohl in the top 10 of best drummers of all time you don't know anything about drums. I would even go as far as say he's in the top five
It's all opinion based, my top 10 drummers doesn't include Dave grohl, doesn't mean he's a bad drummer by any means, I just think there's a lot more technically skilled drummers out there. For instance, Chris turner, Austin archey, Eric brown, vinny mauro. And before it's said I don't know what I'm talking about, I've played drums for over 17 years, know music theory and am a drum teacher
I think this is wrong. I am pretty sure he plays a single note on the floor time on the first partial of the triplet and the second two partials on the bass drum before the snare.
