Steve you're a great teacher and take the time to give great helpful techniques, never BS that really doesn't make sense but always good helpful information theat if a student listens to and makes good use of will eventually make them a much better player, whether they are just playing for their own enjoyment or performing in a studio or a professional gig or just enjoying UA jam, session with friends. Another plus is that you also seem to really enjoy teaching others and have a very positive attitude. Sometimes as a teacher you wonder if students are truthfully g"getting it".. I just wanted to let you know, that I'm 66 years old and never had lessons, I've long since realized that if I had been fortunate enough to have had you as an instructor when I was 12 and just beginning, by now perhaps I,COULD HAVE BEEN ENJOYING A STAGE WITH Eric Clapton, Jon Mayer, Joe Bonnamasso, Tommy Emmanuel Or Yourself🇺🇸🙏( of,coirse I'm joking but I can wee where I would truly have acquired one helluva lot more talent. Anyway for what it's worth I enjoy tuning in now and again. God bless for the hard work and talent you put in to help others.

So THAT'S how you do it! Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been messing about rather than learning for a couple of months, just learning a couple of basic chords and a pentatonic scale (as a finger exercise), as well as cranking up the distortion and play some Rammstein and so on. Would never last more than 10 minutes at a time due to getting frustrated with hearing the strings i am not playing (especially with distortion cranked up). Going to have to get practicing this so i can actually start your online beginners course.

Love that opening piece you did. Awsome. I live how you explained things here. I have an electric but, a lot of times I dont plug into an amp. Kinda do the electric acoustic. So , I struggle a bit, with keeping things clean. Half is that I should be plugged in. This and the other video like a live stream is great for tips and pointers. If you do another video on playing clean. I think you should feature pieces that would be noisey to play then follow it up with playing again clean but. Telling and shiwing what you are doing to get those notes clean . This way people who are clueless to how to do this can try to play the pieces and with being taught how to specifically clean each of thise notes they can further understand the clean dynamics. Its easy to say base of the palm for low strings and finger tips or whatever to clean the higher strings. But, sometimes getting closer to each situtation makes a bit of a difference. I like Carl Browns lessons. So I try to focus how he plays and positions his hand or fingers. This helps a lot.

Great lesson. I've heard some teachers say you should only practice scales on an acoustic or clean amp. I used to believe that until I started practicing on an amp with high gain. I found that the thumb of my picking hand was ever so slightly gliding across the string above the string I was picking. Even though I was muting the string it was still making unwanted noise. I would have never heard that noise without the gain.
