Every Elden streamer has long since entered their min/mix inventory phase, abusing the power of things like infinite golem arrows to cheese situations that might be un-winnable, and we got wholesome saint here still just rocking the fair cannon and ballista.
well to be fair, no streamer has infinite golem arrows. they have 30 per invasion. the game is balanced in such a way that having 30 of any arrow is not unfair or sweaty by any means. the fact you can't buy more and instead have to do the worst farm in the game is not a legitimate balancing measure, it's just a weird oversight.
It's functionally infinite, pin one video where chasethebro of jeenine ever ran out before the invasion ended. Nobody is farming them, they duped them with a friend, and you just re-load a save file, how do you think they always have raw meat dumplings, something you can't farm or dupe. I want to state that I'm not complaining I enjoy watching them, but I can certainly call it cheese when time and time again the unwinnable situations are saved by golem arrows or a turn and burn stormhawk axe.@@irurwurst
@@irurwurst No it's absolutely a balancing measure. Having what amounts to 30 on demand, costless, ranged _stormcaller_ AoW's every invasion is absolutely not how pvp was meant to be played lol.
@@landoncube769 Rain of arrows with golem arrows can one shot hosts with 60 vigor, and more importantly you can completely skip the start up animation by jumping, it's not even comparable, it's so much faster. There's a reason why every streamer has either duped or spawned them in with cheat engine.
You describing that "knot in your stomach feeling" is so damn relatable. I got that feeling when I started invading dudes in Dark Souls 3. There's nothing quite like it, and I can't think of any other games that deliver it.
I really appreciate the tips you are giving in every single one of your videos, Saint. Whether it's an educational commentary like this or some mad rant you go on, I think there is always some takeaway one can get to become better at these games. I have not been able to get Elden Ring but I have been able to apply many of the things you have shown in DS3 and I feel slowly but surely getting better at it. Cheers.
He has an old Learn2invade series for ds3 that helped me a ton which i highly recommend! He gives a lot of similar tips but also some he hasnt covered in Elden Ring yet
I think one of the new developments introduced by Elden Ring that is not discussed enough is moving parts to the map. Hero's Grave chariots, catacomb pillars. I guess there has always been elevators, but it's not the same. They make great chaotic set pieces to spice up an invasion. Helps contrast invasions even further from the sterile environment of dueling.
I pretty much only do pvp in the form of invasions and blue summons at this point. Used to like the arena but now it's just a cesspit of the sweatiest players in the world all using the most braindead op shit ever.
@@FrappyLee100% agree. In invasions whether I'm luring or invading I tend to see different setups since most op dueling setups don't do as well in invasions. Granted when I lure I purposely half my flasks if they heal. Then if we purposely give em a 2v1. If they fight well instead of just running away forever. We drop a gew starlight shards for em.
Just noticed that the guy that was throwing fireballs at 8:00 doesn’t even free aim any of them, which is literally the best thing you can do with them. Definitely something you learn from invading more often than not imo
Talking about the butterflies/knot in your gut; for me it wasn’t necessarily “I am doing something forbidden” it was more like “am I really *that* guy? Am I capable of fighting off a 3 man gank squad?” And it took a good four months for it to calm down. So far, my greatest asset as an invader is a cool head. So many players lose their cool when an invader shows up and they start making mistakes. So thanks Saint riot for making me more comfortable with invading!
i've lost count to how many times i died because of a dumb rock or a tree. no matter how many git gud videos you watch, YOU HAVE to INVADE, or else you'll never learn. i completely agree with saint. also, dont invade RL30 and RL60, its filled with gankers
gankers go where invaders are, frfr. It's the nature of the pvp cycle. If you feel like u have a build at 30 or whatever? Try it whilst trying not to overlevel your weapons ;)
I have been invading at RL47. Lots of ganks. But it's really fun. For me. Lots of overleveled phantoms showing their stuff. But I feel like there are ganks no matter what level.
knowledge is power, it's how it is. great video, very entertaining. a lot of people really do underestimate the power of knowing your surroundings; it can be used to set up so many good things. also, anyone that puts katana zero music in their videos gets a sub from me.
Ya know what? Saint_Riot? This guy? He's the Tom Brady of invaders. And in 20 years when he retires? When Saom Rimnin is gone and retired? Yall goona see it.
I guess he's casual compared to Chase and jee, but idunno, man. He might not stream full time like them or anything, but the hours he put in shows handily.
@@denito7075 that's why Jee uses fans to pad his videos and makes excuses any time he loses, right? The BOSS Level already proved through video evidence(and beating him in said video) that Jee stuffs his streams and vids with intentionally bad players who are his fans, who kick any phantom or blue who gets close to killing him, and then Jee does not upload his streamed losses. Just recently made this discovery, should check it out. There's a reason Jee gets so tilted any time he doesn't get his way while Chase and Steelovsky don't. It's because he's using to being handed shit and has actually very bad habits he never breaks because he almost never has to lol. And don't get me started on how he makes intentionally busted builds that literally cannot be countered, but was the biggest whiner about storm stomp, which was literally noob bait back then lol. He is good, but inconsistent at best imo. He's just a far bigger tryhard than Chase, and has the temperament(tantrums/hypocrisy/toxicity/point down/whine about ganks you went out of your way to invade/etc) of majority of the ER pvp base, so people give him far more credit than he is due, because they empathize with and see themselves in him more than Chase. Never met a fanbase that so openly hates positivity in their game as much as G's. Like they literally despise chase because he's positive and actively make up conspiracies about his "true" character, because they literally cannot fathom not being man children over the game 🤣.
Nah, they're literally braindead making braindead decisions that hosts never make whilst I'm playing. Noticed it in Chases videos too. Like chasing after me. Be surprised how rare it actually happens now lol. I blame the fact that most people playing whether pve or pvp at this point watch these videos and so the base skill level has risen. I literally ever only see the rate of braindead hosts as these streamers do when they're playing. The number of people over committing. Hitting out of hit stun. Not timing attacks even a little bit. Not having the most basic understanding of spacing. Not spamming staggered waves of gold at all times. Yet this stuff happens almost *every* invasion for me. Could also be that I play at higher level, so maybe more braindead tactics work at those levels. But I also just noticed that the people they play DO suck more often than not, and that's why _multiple_ people have commented on it across _multiple_ streamers and uploaders. it isn't isolated incidents of bad invaders when a good chunk of people are all commenting the *exact* same observation.
Honestly the only fun I can have with pvp invasions is hide and seek with the mimic veil. Every single person ends up having a gank squad of max level epic loot wielding goons that inevitably make it next to impossible without god like skills.
ok, i will finally admit my ignorance. When you invade can they just ignore you and go to wherever they want? is there anything that prevents them from ignoring you? Can they not fast travel, is there a limited range they can go while you are they, or is there a specific door you can block that they need to progress in some dungeon locations? I never understood this part of invading and it really limited my engagement doing so.
It’s dependent on the area you invade in, sometimes the host has a clear goal or level to play through, for example legacy dungeons like the academy of raya lucaria has a set path that the host has to progress you, so your job there would be to stop him and his friends. But if you invade in an open world area there aren’t clear goals and you will often end up having passive fights
You can’t fast travel with other people in your world. Summons or invaders. The open world does have blocks. I’m not sure of all of them but I think it generally prevents you from going to a different region when an invader is there. I know for a fact if you invade in the Altus/outer wall area, you cannot get into the inner wall area (The giant staircase where there are the two tree sentinels)
@@SirChubblesSteen it's an oversight for sure. In older games you invaded where you were in game so retrieving souls was never that bad. With the whole world open wherever you are. I think you should we just keep em. Either that or drop the runes in the zone our charavter already is.
Could not have said it better myself. "Sometimes you have to be mean." If casuals can just wrap their brains around just this concept, I'd get a lot less hate mail. 😂 I'm like 33.33% as mean as half these dang hosts/cooperators/blues/gankers. Only difference is, I take my Ls with pride as a learning experience, unlike hosts who disconnect after chasing them for 10 minutes throughout Limegrave.
RU-vidrs that talk like that are STILL telling me 10 things I don't know about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 10 years later. Did you know: in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can talk to Rogshart Skidmark and get Diarrhearend? What Todd Howard MEAN by this???
Invasions show just how bad ER PVP has become. With fewer coopers left. We just get overleveled aoe spamming. Even when i win, it just isnt fun anymore.
digging yourself into the Spite Pit over the course of invasion, I heard about it on a different channel. Happens on the regular in my experience :/ Also coopers that are still there get ALL the invasion traffic so even if they were fun yesterday, they'll stop playing fun in a moment.
@@xenosayain1506 oof, focusing only on game's mechanics, it's cold. It can make for an impressive playstyle too. I get frustrated with thing that FromSoft did not put in the game 😮💨 Did you ever came across Wyrd? It's who I was referring to with the Spite Pit. Fellow Red agent. Currently a sleeper. "Even when i win, it just isnt fun anymore" - just reminded me of the video he did and I wanted to share! 🙌
I'm usually the best PvPer in the room 💪 ...but that's because it's only me who's doing PvP :) I consider my toon to be the E in their PvE 👺 edit. Yea, a great white shark! An environmental hazard 😂
Having 0 runes is what indicates 50/50 invasion success rate. People who judge their session with successful invasions in compilations, possibly don't invade enough xD
If you only do invasion comps, you're absolutely bad and that has proven true literally every time I've come across small time invasion YT'ers who only upload comps. Only wins, never losses, always cherry picked best invasions, loads of shit talking and condescension from the uploader.
I don't play games to know where I am, I play games to escape that. This is the worst advice and is personally insulting. I'm calling the cops as I speak.
Why? They're nowhere near as broken as they were in DS3, so it's not like they'd be learning bad lessons. If anything using SS(not paired, that's braindead) probably would teach a new the importance of spacing and timing.
@@mechamahou8467 as I see in Elden Ring, raw burst damage is better for invasions. One hand straight and cuverd swords does not work like they used to. No more PKCS and dark longswords, the damage is worst and now we have more things to heal and improve defenses.
@@lincolnprestes7617 I don't think SS damage is THAT bad. It's mostly about mind games to keep getting hits. I find I use my SS almost like a colossal weapon. Looking for big openings to capitalize on, then consistent roll catching until dead, or Weapon Art them with something high damage. Probably very unoptimal for invasions in general, but if a newb can get comfortable with a SS in invasions , they would likely gain the spacing and timing knowledge to easily transfer their skills into better weapons. Basically what I'm saying is that SS being so perfectly middle of the road makes them very good _learning_ tools to encourage good habits in newer players. SS forces very good fundamentals on the player using it I feel like. You can't reliably insta-burst, so you have to actually get good at landing your hits and learning how other weapons function against it. That's how Saint is bodying every weapon in this vid with sword and board: good fundamentals and weapon matchup knowledge.
@@mechamahou8467 yeah, I think you are right. As a learning tool, SS are great for training, perfecting the pvp skills. Although, someone who are not too patient to learn might get frustated until their skill starts to improve; also, in a country like mine, Brazil, phantom range is a issue, learn the proper spacing makes things more dificult, and for SS is essential
Stop putting Hollow Knight music in your videos Saint. I always end up vibing out and dancing to the song instead of listening to your hemlpful timps and tricks to and i'll never become a hardened invaner :(
I DON'T WANT TO BE GOOD, I LIKE BEING EVIL!!! 🦹 This is why I love Saint Ryan, he knows what's up! We're the BBEGs! The Bad Red Men! We come in UNINVITED and we mess up your SHIT. I'm here to cause as much chaos and strife as possible, and knowledge is the key to being able to do that. Which mobs give hosts the most strife? What parts of the level are shit to play through? Those are the moments and the situations in which we perform at our best.
