1) Don't pull on the handlebars. This will usually cause the bike to tilt to one side or the other in the air. 2) Don't try to put your bike back on the ground as fast as possible. This will lead to extended arms and "dead sailor" syndrome. Let the bike come into you naturally. 3) Go slower. This will force you to push into the face of the jump harder to clear the jump. Speed will mask bad technique. GG Beth. Awesome for you.

If I press evenly, does the front and back need to travel the same distance and does the rebound need to act the same on the front and rear. I've always jumped motorcycles and bmx but I'm wanting to jump full suspension but it's feels so different. I'd appreciate any advice and that was a great comment you made. 👍
@neko3154
@neko3154 5 лет назад
1) check suspension before you hit the trail, last thing you want to do is rear shock or fork compressing 2x times more than other. 2) prioritise the landing after the suspension compressed, I don't knwo how but found people that didn't care about the landing much and it ended mostly with injuries

I did find that practice on jumps at lower speeds definitely showed my weaknesses. I have to keep working on the “pre-loading”. It’s easy to fly over small to medium jumps at trail speed without actually jumping! Thanks! 🍻 - Beth

So I watched this video two days ago and realized I have been jumping with only pulling my arms up, not focusing on compression and full body movements. Today I rode a trail I have ridden 100 times before, and I always skip the gap jump (we only have one). However, today I committed way before it even came into view, compressed with me full body, and I swear I floated over this thing like I was a pro rider. It was awesome. Perfect landing. Awesome video!! I subbed

Awesome video guys, one of the best out there for breaking it down into its simplest form. Only questions i have are: 1. Timing - are there specific points on the jumps you should be aiming to perform each step? 2. Sizing/steepness - I've found that the way you hit jumps varies greatly depending on the size and steepness of the jump. Any tips for this?

I was at Whistler 3 weeks ago and had the pleasure to be in a bike park for the time. As of that, i took an "intro to bikepark" lesson, which is a group ride. As the skills of the 3 person group where greatly divided, I got a 1 on 1 lesson with Ben. Back in Switzerland, singletrails are our bike pathways and Ben did a faboulous job of getting the bike park and downhill feeling into me. We did not really jump, but dropping was one of our focuses. Dropping a 1m drop at the end of the day was a huge accomplishment for me and an awesome feeling. I can't tell enough good things with getting a lesson for training new skills (specially with the great guides in whistler).

How I fine tune my jumps is by sessioning jumps and recording it from the side. And really focusing on my form while I do it. This is great cause now you recorded yourself while focusing on your form so you will be able to see how your body reacted to your command. You will notice that your body does not do the movement as "big" as you thought it did and stuff like that!

Just got my first full-suspension bike at 57, but I raced BMX and motorcycles for years when I was young. Been riding and jumping my hardtail ( mtb's) for the past 15 years and can launch off things I shouldn't be launching off but it's still in my DNA. The first jump I hit with my new SC Hightower just kinda disappeared. The suspension just sucked it up and I was probably bunny hopping at the same time. The jumps that just naturally load the bike suspension up like a 'down into a ravine and up with a launch at the top' work perfect, but the quick pop from a level trail just sends me into unifamiliar territory. Land all wrong and out of balance. This video was great to point out the need for a balanced pre-load and the timing. Thank you. I'll be out working on it this afternoon:)

A massive tip that helped me start to do proper jumps on jumps and getting air was practising jumping over sticks and logs which i then used to jump over table tops, imagining like it was a massive stick or log. This made me jump higher get more air and add a little more style into my jumps by being able to move my bike. Hope this helps anyone please comment below if u use this technique ; )

Booker T best piece of advice I ever got is keep speed in check pedals level and make sure you adjust how far ahead you look on trail for speed you carrying looking at front tire will cause major unbalance and to far ahead also will cause issues as your body will react to soon also trust your bike lean back a little and let off the brake for the really rough stuff

That was awesome Beth did that! And when,the few weeks later part of her clearing those tables was hella great! My best advice for jumping is to fast and pull up! What's the worst that could happen? Lol

There are a couple good channels made my female riders that I have really enjoyed lately. It's cool to see things from a woman's perspective especially because most of the sport is male dominated. Check em out! My favorite is @Sprocket Girl and here is her channel: ru-vid.com/show-UCeW6IXWSanm0Z52onLQykzg Dusty betty is also good. @Dusty Betty Many more subs but both are great channels. ru-vid.com/show-UCZmqfLzzsL8ST6rZdQTpMvg

What about jumping a hardtail? Not everyone has the luxury of just squashing their suspension to the floor 😂
@AGZenith

More technique and skill on hardtail, I use hardtail because I want to go faster =) Leg power is one thing, regular bunnyhop and using the bike nose is how I do it. but this tutorial is pretty close. @@AGZenith I haven't done much practice, but I can't bunny hop well; my bike is really really long and slack so I struggle with getting the front wheel up manual style. I can jump, it's just a confidence thing to start doing bigger ones
