Ill say this, the whole dont land without throttle thing was made by people who never flew a Habu lol. That sucker floats so long that if im about 2 mistakes high i can cut my throttle entirely and glide in from about halfway through the pattern. Some planes like it more than others, but its more the pilot than the airframe. Thank you for making these videos i’ve learned quite a bit from them since i started flying again.

We recently upgraded our sound library to an actual music library which gives us a massive amount of content to work with that fits the atmosphere better. The old stuff we used was cool, too, but this is a bit more tailored to our style. Thanks!

My landing tips. Control direction the plane's with rudder, keep wings level with ailerons, proper pitch and airspeed with elevator and decent with throttle. It's a lot to manage at first but with practice it's doable ... most of the time. When I was first starting out I would make approaches and change only one of those variables at a time for a mock landing attempt and see how a plane would react.

Thank you for all of your tips, setups and tricks. Flying jets is a love/hate relationship for me. Just when I think I finally get the hang of landing them, I’ll either stall or bounce the viper 90/70. Very frustrating. I also have the F-16 80mm and I only flew it around 7 times because I’m terrified of it. Haha. I’m going to get an 8 channel receiver so I can do your setup and get the most out of it. Thanks again for all your videos. Cheers.

This video covers crow (butterfly) landings and normal flap landings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G-8FXntqv84.html We personally recommend the crow setup for turbulent landings, but not all aircraft make it easy to set up, nor do all modelers have the budget for a radio/receiver combination to do it.

I have practiced and practiced landing jets on RealFlight. That said, all my 64mm jets bounce a little, but my 6S 70mm Yak-130 has shocks, so it just greases the runway.

What a great video does this technique good for tail draggers war bird type planes?
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 месяцев назад
Taildraggers require a more specialized landing and takeoff approach which we've covered before: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G2ydOzYck-A.html

Every plane, every landing is different as every condition is ever changing. Hit all your marks in pattern and you are good. I would t recommend power off landings, it really doesn’t transfer to turbine A/C. Heavier, etc. how many times does a scale plane or airliner do a power off approach.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 месяцев назад
Turbines are another story entirely - we're definitely not covering those here.
@tughillrc6327

Good advice but as all advice application is the evidence of learning what is taught. No matter how good the pilot is we are all subject to wind/ turbulence. Look forward to your next landing lesson on heavy jets.

Something I've noticed at my field is that a lot of people are scared to get too low and end up diving into their landings. While technically this can work (and I have landed planes from a vertical dive) it tends to leave them struggling to bleed off the extra speed and prevent their plane from ballooning back up into the air. My preferred approach is to get as low as I can with the goal of crossing the front edge of the runway a foot or less above the ground so I can cut the throttle and let the plane drop back onto its mains in about ten to twenty feet. I practiced this approach with an overweight Freewing F-8 more times than I can count and it's really helped my landings. Optimal speed for this depends a lot on the plane's stall speed unless you can harrier the plane for long distances.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 месяцев назад
It all depends on the jet and how you want to approach with it. Dive approaches can work if you've set the plane up for maximum drag. Your approach works if you're looking for precision and scale appearance while landing.
@1212354a
@1212354a 10 месяцев назад
I like to get my F-8 low and just kill the throttle. It glides right onto the mains.
@brendanshroyer7696
@brendanshroyer7696 10 месяцев назад
@@1212354a Do you have the stock 3S fan in yours still? I've found that my 3S F-8 is very floaty, but the 4S upgrade makes it fly like a rock. I always needed a substantial amount of power in order to land my 4S F-8 smoothly.
@brendanshroyer7696
@brendanshroyer7696 10 месяцев назад
@@TwoBrosRC I think the biggest benefit for me of landing low and long has been the amount of power I can carry through the turn to final. I can keep plenty of airspeed through the turn by keeping the fan at 25-50% power and by the time I reach the runway my flaps have bled off enough energy that the plane just settles onto the ground as soon as I turn the fan off. I really make use of the entire length of my airfield though because the extra energy takes a while to bleed off fully.
@FlightLogProductions
@FlightLogProductions 10 месяцев назад
What flap settings do you use for the FMS Viper?
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 месяцев назад
Just minimal settings, as little as possible to be frank. The more flap used on that jet, the more it bounces on landing.
@ericevans6080
@ericevans6080 10 месяцев назад
All of my Viper 90 crashes have been caused by a bounce. The plane tends to bounce even if I landed smoothly, sometimes due the battery being too far forward, others from bumps in the runway. Are you saying a lower air speed helps with the bounce?
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 месяцев назад
Lower touchdown speed reduces the chances of bouncing. Bouncing usually happens because the aircraft is still flying while the wheels are rolling.
@GrantEscalera
@GrantEscalera 23 дня назад
i watched an earlier video you did with using cro for landing. doesnt this make it exponentially easier to land? i noticed you did not mention anything about that in this video but it seems thats the primary way you were landing in this video.
@TwoBrosRC

That only tends to work with larger jets or ones with bigger control surfaces than the Viper 70, unfortunately.

@TwoBrosRC During landing you often get sudden gusts of wind that can catch you out sending a wing into the ground. Safe has faster reactions than you have and could save a crash
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 9 месяцев назад
It'll crash if you're not keeping your airspeed up in SAFE, too. Fly it that way if you'd prefer, but it opens up significant potential of stalling that we'd rather avoid.

@@TwoBrosRC The thing that worries me more is that sudden gust of wind at the last minute before touch down that can catch you out. The wing goes up then hits the ground.
