Man this video is so old but Gold !!! After 10 years I still come back to this video. I love these Lil seshes hall put together. I soaked up a lot by just watching this video over and over again !! No cap lol
Always a pleasure working with jamal and company. This was produced at our facility, North Avenue Studios, in Orange City, FL. Check out our youtube channel for more cool videos in the studio.
@SWardMusiq The stuff at the end was worship stuff. If you want to play worship stuff, then I would recommend the Urban and Contemporary Worship. Also the Play by Ear Volume 2.
@SWardMusiq Depends on what Instrument you want. We have the Urban Bass, Urban Drums, Fundamentals of Neo-Soul, and the Urban Soloing. Just visit: Store.gospelMusicians (dot) com.
@Roganc Wow....You're the first person to say that you wish there wasn't as much instruction. Most people want as much instruction as possible and less of playing.
@mkmusic Look @Roganc post. I guess he feels that there is TOO MUCH instruction. So I guess he answered your question....So to answer your question: YES, THERE IS A TON OF INSTRUCTION AND NOT JUST PLAYING :).
$39.99 is an Introductory Offer at the time of launch. The price has gone up since then. If you get the DVD then you would have to pay for shipping costs. The download has no shipping costs.
@paulalexanderjohnson a great pedal helps however, I play on my tippy toes and that Axis has a wide pedal board which gives me more control. It's all in playing what's comfortable to you.
You know - Vids like this always depress me about my geographical location. I live in New Mexico and basically in the middle of an Oil field....I have zero of this type of music/culture around me. Great vid - killin' it.
just bought this dvd. the content and flow is really nice. finally got an instructional dvd about gospel chops without playing fast licks all over the moon. but with that simple and hang banging groove feel! its gonna help me LOTS. but 2 problems. im using pc. and when i use VLC player to watch. the screen has a green stripe in the middle. so i use itunes, and then the video drags so much that the frame rate became really low.....
JLaToiya is sweet on drums. Wish there wasn't as much instruction and a lot more free-flow of musical expression. In case you didn't know. The bass player is Jamaal Andrews out of Orlando. That dude is nothing to play with. He's a really AWESOME bass player
I botched that last post. The samples show slot of cool jamming.but is there a lot of teaching and totally breaking down her grooves, fills, part ice regimens, application, etc? or does she mostly just demo on this DVD?
@JLaToiya I'm guessing axis. Because i knoww a lot of guys who are not that committed to their endorsements. Its good to here that they make those Axis wide! Thanks for the info!
its 3/4, the snare is right on the third beat and the stroke pattern is pretty much RL RL RL RR LR LR repeated, with the kick and ride on the right strokes and snare on left
@GospelMusicians This is what most of us drummers need. By giving instruction, this is going to make drummers better. Explaining what you're doing around the kit gives us a better understanding of how to play. No offence to Roganc, but we all learn differently and free-flowing doesn't really make you a better musician. Free-flowing basically showcasing your skills and with this, it only provides entertainment. If what I'm saying is wrong, please feel free to correct me.
Pretty good sound except for the snare. I'd love to hear the sound, sounds y'all have in every day music. It'd be nice if today's musicians could actually play music. Like I said I like the sound y'all have
I think this video serves the purpose that you do not have to be a super flashy, fast choppin, complex drummer to sound good. Shorty is doin her thing and she is complimenting the music as a drummer should.
Beautiful stuff - please what sizes are those crash cymbals? All Sabian HH and the fx crash/ride on the right is an HHX? Is that a signature ride? I love those cymbals in that setup
Why is the keybaord player always screaming? Come on guys, buy a metronome, try to listen to the other musicien you are playing with and stop playing faster than the tempo... Wouuuuh wouhouuuuu yeaaaaaah!
the only thing to really help gospel musicians is charging an outrageous price. $40 for 10 tracks? Im just gonna get my friend to give me his tracks... People trying to rob God's people
I really like this illustration of drumming techniques...not a whole lot talking just show me what you're doing!! Love it...great job guys...the best illustration vid I've seen so far!!
1:43 - 2:27 is on some 'ol Detroit in the spring and summer smoothness. Karreem Riggins. JDilla. Platinum Pied Pipers. Blue Note Recordings. I'm loving everthing though.
