For those who want to master singing the chromatic scale, you may want to download an app that shows a piano keyboard segment on your device. Then you can play the chromatic scale and sing until you firmly memorize it in your brain. I did that and it really help.

Thank you. I shall try. I did enjoy your nerdy comment because that is where I excel - theory. 12 tet bends the actual sound overtone relationships to make notes like B fit and choirs naturally gravitate to the natural tone.

Using the piano to train your ears to sing the chromatic scale is very helpful. While practicing, I figured out a way to internalize the half step ascension by fooling the ears that I am repeating only two notes “Mi” and “Fa” which we all are able to sing. For example, when I am singing “Do-Di”, I tell my brain that I am singing the melody “Mi-Fa” but the “verse” is “Do-Di”. When singing “Di-Re”, again I am singing “Mi-Fa” but the verse is “Di-Re”. Repeat this mind game for each half step ascension until I reach the “Do” one octave higher. Try it and see if it help you to gauge the distance of half step. The trick is to remember the tone of the last “Fa” and use it as the “Mi” of next pair.

Great way to work through it. I’m always super interested in how others interpret it. There are so many ways to think of it!

I was looking for a video to learn to sing a chromatic scale and have found yours. It is very good. I had some experience playing violin and I came out with a way to trick my ears. That is, when I am singing Do, I imagine in my mind that I am singing Mi, then followed by the Fa which actually is the Di. Because our ears are so used to the interval between Mi and Fa that we now can sing Do and Di. Apply this trick repeatedly to cover the whole scale and you now can sing the chromatic scale in tune. I am not sure if there is any drawback on this trick. Could you comment on it teacher?

Can you do a tutorial using solfege and a song or a phrase to identify the pitches of the words. I find it hard to identify the solfege syllables when a melody is playing.

Thanks! I’m working on ear training but I’m getting really stuck on hearing the difference between the tritone and flat 6. Hopefully the solfège will help

If you practice the major scale in moveable do Solfege, then practice singing la to fa for the minor 6th and practice ti to fa for the tritone. Good luck!
