I often get asked where I'm from, so I wanted to share with the world about my country Bhutan. A small himalayan kingdom nestled in between two giants, China and India.
In today's video, i am going to teach you how to speak Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan.
There are two ways of speaking Dzongkha:
1. Formal or honorific
2. Informal or casual
Important TIP:
If you add the word "LA", you can elevate any sentence to a more respected one even when spoken in causal Dzongkha.
Welcome - Jem ba lekso to my channel
Hello- Kuzu zangpo la
How are you?-Choe ga dey bey yoe?
I am doing good, and yourself? -Nga ley zhim bey yoe, Choe?
I am doing good, and how about yourself? - Nga ley zhim bey yoe, Choe ga dey bey yoe?
What's your name? -Choe gi mii gachi mo?
My name is ___ - Nga gi ming ___ ( Nga gi is pronounced as Nge gi)
Name - Ming ( pronounced as Mii)
Yes/positive confirmation - Een ( pronounced as ee)
Not/Negative Confirmation - Men ( pronounced as mae)
Pleased to meet you - Nga choe da chae di sem ga yi
Pleased to meet you too - nga ya choe da chae di sem gaa yi
Thank you - Kadrin che la
Thank you very much - Namey samey kadrin che la
Sorry/ please don't be upset - Tsip maza (informal)/ Gom ma thrae la (formal)
No problem - Khae mi
Who am I :My name is jamjam, and I'm a Bhutanese vlogger. Check out my other videos on Bhutan.
