Unrelated to this video, but here's a funny joke I came up with: Me: What's your favorite guitar brand? Date: G&L Me: *mouth full of McNuggets* No, you can only choose one
Music is Win hey Tyler, since you seem to have enjoyed this video a lot, maybe you could do our favourite riffs any time soon? Keep up the good work, I love your content

I'm a little lost with this joke, I love jazz and play a lot of jazz as well as a lot of metal, blues, rock and what not but I am just not understanding this joke, can someone spell it out for me?
@@ecyor_ sooo... The joke is he saw the title and just assumed that someone was gonna request “the lick?” How is that a joke? Let alone something to get nervous or sweat about
@@TheGoodGoat420 well, he does a fast pentantonic run at the end. So it can be considered as John's hardest solo. He wasnt really a technical player and when he shreds he's sloppy but sounds cool.
@@TheGoodGoat420 hahah yeah, I also can do it easily, when you know your pentantonic scale very well you can nail this solo perfectly. 21st Century its also one of those weird Frusciante's shred solos. Not as hard as on the league of lots of guitarists (dont want to mention them cause I think they could easily eat Frusciante technically and I love frusciante lmao), but it works pretty cool for his style 😂
It's so refreshing to just see a good player learn totally new things by ear, especially someone who's gone to freaking Berklee... Videos like these make me remember being good at guitar is just practice.
I don’t know why, but the full solo for No More Tears has always been my favorite. The way it starts slow and epic, then builds into a beautiful shred.
Here are some licks i think should've been in this video Periphery - it's only smiles intro Pantera - floods solo (the arpagios inthe beging) Ozzy Osbourne - no more tears solo
Just want to say Tyler that your playing and dedication to guitar playing really inspires me to keep practicing and playing. Thanks man for your videos. Really, I should be so much better. I have been playing for 21 years, and have plateaued 😵. All I find myself doing is the same ole riffs and songs I have always played with a few new ones here and there. But again thanks.
Some suggestions for a Part 2 - Main riff from Young Lust by Pink Floyd - Main riff or solo from Livin’ On the Edge - Aerosmith - Solo from Radio/Video - System of a Down (The part when they go “La la la la”, it's just so fun to play and it honestly makes you want to dance) - Intro riff from U&I or intro and verse riff to No Thank You! from K-On! (Even though it’s from an anime the guitar work in all those songs are freaking awesome) - Main riff from Southern Man - Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Intro riff to Gasoline - Audioslave
Dude I admire you for how much you know. And the ear training you have. I’m working on that part as we speak, but you just blow my mind on how much knowledge you have. All I can say is wow.
This is a great concept. The solonat the end of BTBAM- Selkies:the infinite obsession has always given me the warm and fuzzies, especially the ending arpeggio sequence. Keep up the cool content man. Enjoying the the hell out of it
The cliffs of dover melody literally made my jaw drop. Used to always play guitar hero as a kid (from like 6-10) and that is the first time I've heard it since then (like 10 years). I'm a fairly new 'real' guitar player but I absolutely can't wait to learn that. It most definitely is one of the best melodies ever written and I'm sorry I didn't rediscover it sooner. Thank you
The thing I love about this video is it makes me realize as a guitar player (beginner), that no riff ever comes without practice. You fast forwarding so much while your playing to learn the riffs, and you’ve been playing for wayyyyy longer than I have, makes me appreciate the endless war with learning. This video was very eye opening in the most subtle way. Love your vids man, you inspire me to keep playing!
So, was Nord VPN hanging out at NAMM this year? I believe it is no coincidence that just weeks after NAMM, all my favorite guitar youtubers have had some kind of sponsorship break for Nord. 😂😂
@@joshfike6464 They had bad actors logged in to one of their servers for over a month and didn't tell anyone. That the hackers got nothing is immaterial. Nord behaved shady AF
As someone who is less than a week into learning guitar, but 25 years into an appreciation of musicians (especially guitarists), it’s insane to me how easily you can play these from just listening to them a couple times tops. Super impressive, love your videos
Had a lot of fun going through and learning bunch of these for fun. I gotta say, that guy who recommended funk #49 was so right, it's easy but sooo fun to play.
Suggestions for part 2: - Opening of ”Life” by Devin Townsend - The solo in ”Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. Starts at 3:09 - The lick at 0:12 in ”Dead Mans Party” by Oingo Boingo - The main riff of ”Electric Sunrise” by Plini. Comes in at 1:08 - The intro to ”The Great Pretender” by Slash - The repeating lick in the solo of ”Dancing in the Moonlight” by Thin Lizzy. Comes in at 2:20 - 1:00 of ”Lingus” by Snarky Puppy - Intro of ”Hollow Years” by Dream Theater
Damn, Tyler. That was awesome. Kinda wish I had a Twitter so I could have participated. My favorites are the chugging riff from the bridge in "Damage Incorporated" the breakdown in "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" and the intro to Buckethead's "Moth to Flame" This really brightened my day, thank you.
Wow, you played all those riffs masterfully. well, aside from the lil Wayne one of course. Humbling to see how even experienced players like yourself have a ways to go
I’ve been addicted to the intro to The Matthew Effect by Nothing More for years now. All the way up to the first verse. The whole song is fun to play, but that heavy lick that leads into the verses is great. Also great is the riff through the second chorus of Jenny by Nothing More. So good.
If you decide to do a part 2, please do the end solo of Drive Home by Steven Wilson. One of Guthrie Govan’s best solos, more of an emotional climax than a display of technicality.
This is the first time commenting on one of your videos. I love the way you ended the video! Adding that somehow by playing the forbidden riff caused the "something has gotten into my guitar" tying the VPN plug was genius! I love your videos and have been watching for about 3 years now. DISCLAIMER: I do not play guitar, I had a kramer once, bought in Abu Dabi in 1995. Had to sell it because I was down on my luck a few years ago. Thank you again for a great video Tyler!
Some how I missed this until today. I enjoyed it this whole thing. The idea of learning songs as you are told to is awesome! Please do this again soon. I decided to subscribe because if it. So your welcome lol
So, do you have guitar picks strewn about your whole studio? I can't imagine you have been able to recover all of them from your pick flick signature sign offs lol. Especially with that creepy mouth monster living in your floor 😂
Aw man, I wanted to hear Tyler do that run right after the chords in Feathers by Coheed and Cambria. That part sounds so cool (and so hard for my hands to do!)
It's interesting to see you work through each lick and figure it out. It also made me realize why I'm so bad at guitar. I'll spend 53 seconds trying a lick and give up until I decide to pick up the guitar a month later.
It's not terribly difficult but Randy's solo to "Revelation Mother Earth", especially starting in the 3rd measure, has a lick that still gives me goosebumps when I play it. The entire solo is amazing.
