Do the books have a reading guide about how many chapter or pages the child reads per day or week?
@MonkeyandMom
@MonkeyandMom 6 месяцев назад
Not really. I looked ahead to see where the unit about the book was and I split the book into parts so we would finish it before we got the the unit about it. We read all history or literature books ahead of time anyway so this wasn't an issue for us. You can always contact them maybe they have a reading schedule in place. They are very helpful.

Are the Gold books for High school years supposed to be used in that order? 9th grade -World Lit 10th grade -American Lit 11th grade - British Lit 12th grade - Literacy Criticism Like that? Or do they all teach the same concept just using different literature? I need to confirm asap. We just finished God Wolrd Lit for 9th grade, should I move on to America Lit now or what? Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻

Hi! You should confirm this with the guys at Common Sense Press...but they will have some common points and different points as well. You might want to choose not to do them all if you feel they are too repetitive I guess. The Gold Books are divided into four main courses: World Literature, American Literature, British Literature, and Literary Criticism. ✅World Literature - Typically used in the 9th grade, this course introduces students to a wide range of literary works from different cultures and historical periods. ✅American Literature - Often used in the 10th grade, this course focuses on major American authors and literary works. ✅British Literature - Commonly used in the 11th grade, this course covers significant British authors and their contributions to literature. ✅Literary Criticism - Designed for 12th grade, this course prepares students for college-level writing and literary analysis. While these courses are usually followed in the sequence mentioned above, they are not strictly bound to grade levels and can be used in any order based on the student’s needs and interests. Given that you have just completed World Literature for 9th grade, it is logical to move on to American Literature for 10th grade, following the typical sequence. However, you can choose to do British Literature next if it aligns better with your educational goals or your child's interests. *** About concepts covered: The Learning Language Arts Through Literature (LLATL) Gold Books for high school cover different literary works and periods but share common educational goals and concepts. Here's a detailed breakdown: Core Concepts: ⭐Literary Analysis: All Gold Books teach students to analyze literature critically, understanding themes, characters, plot, and literary devices. ⭐Writing Skills: Each course emphasizes improving writing skills, including essays and other forms of literary response. ⭐Reading Comprehension: Students enhance their ability to read and comprehend complex texts. Course-Specific Content: World Literature: Focuses on a global perspective, exposing students to literature from different cultures and historical periods. This course often includes epic poetry, classic novels, and important works from various traditions. American Literature: Centers on American authors and their works, covering various genres such as short stories, novels, and poetry from different periods in American history. British Literature: Explores significant British literary works, including classic novels, poetry, and plays from authors like Shakespeare, Dickens, and others. Literary Criticism: Shifts towards a more analytical approach, teaching students different methods of literary criticism and requiring them to write more advanced, critical essays on literature. Similarities: Educational Framework: All Gold Books follow a similar structure in teaching literature analysis and writing. Lesson Format: Lessons are generally structured to be completed over a week, with activities and assignments designed to develop a deeper understanding of the texts. Christian Worldview: Each course integrates a Christian perspective, which influences the analysis and interpretation of the literature studied. Differences: Literary Focus: Each book covers different literary traditions and periods. For example, World Literature covers texts from across the globe, American Literature focuses on works by American authors, and British Literature deals with British literary heritage. Skill Emphasis: While foundational skills in reading and writing are common across all books, Literary Criticism places a stronger emphasis on developing advanced writing and analytical skills suitable for college-level work. Based on the above, the Gold Books do not teach the exact same concepts but build on a core set of skills tailored to different literary traditions and periods.

Do we need to get the chapter books listed in the Teachers Guide?

I am not sure which level you chose, but you will have a clear list of books to buy separately on their site, where the product description is. If you tell me your level I can help you find them.
