Hi mamas! Thank you for watching today! I would love to know your thoughts on sharing curriculum I come across but don’t use vs. only sharing things I personally use. ❤ Let me know what you prefer! ❤
Thanks for sharing; I’ve eyed LLATL in the past :) I do prefer videos of curriculum you actually use. I started following you for CLE inspiration. That’s what we used and it doesn’t get much love on RU-vid :)
Share both 😊 You’ve worked hard to earn the perk of sharing free curricula with your viewers. It helps me navigate which style of curriculum I want to spent money on.
I enjoy seeing all different curriculum and always find it so helpful when homeschooling mamas compare it to what they currently use- how it might be similar, how it might be different, etc. and share their thoughts on who might enjoy using it or who it may not be a good fit for! Thank you for the video!
I prefer things you use. I like to know how you like them.😊But this is good too. I’ve been thinking about trying LLATL next year actually. But for 5th grade. I just started a homeschool focused RU-vid channel too! I have been watching homeschooling channels for years and thought I would share what we are up to as well! 🤷🏻♀️ Thanks for being a great channel that I come back to all the time. ❤
I am using the McGuffey readers for extra reading practice, and the Yellow Book for Language Arts for my 3rd grader this year! We are using the Building Writers by Handwriting Without Tears for a writing curriculum, and then once we complete that book he is going to write his own hardcover book by drafting it first and working on his art, completing it with all of the skills that he learned through the year. He’s extremely excited about writing his book and has already started thinking of ideas for it and has practiced drawing, so I’m hoping that excitement helps propel him through the lessons. 😊 as always love your videos ❤❤
We’ve used LLATL for 2 years now between 2 kids and just love it. We’ve completed the red book (2nd), yellow book (3rd), purple book (5th) and tan book (6th). We love that it’s simple, to the point and no fluff. And of course that all the learning comes from real literature. 💛
I’m loving your curriculum picks ! I have started using the McGuffey’s and we are loving it. However I just have the first book. Where did you buy your books?
I am considering this for my 3rd grader this fall. You mentioned that you do need the teacher manual. Could you elaborate a little? From what I see in the student workbook, I am wondering what additional resources might be in the teacher manual that make it necessary.
That looks interesting the one problem I have with it is as a Christian a lot of their literature has magic in it. Like Alice and wonderland. The Bible is against all forms of magic and that’s including in movies and books. I came out of witch craft of 17 years almost six years ago and I can spot that stuff out super fast such as frozen! The devil even makes children stuff look innocent and it’s not. Now this program doesn’t have those types of books until the little older grades. When I saw this video I had to look through all the grade . I like charlotte mason in some methods but I can’t believe her part on books needing to be so interesting and magical for children to enjoy reading. That’s not true. My daughter loves the good and beautiful books they have good character in them. That’s what matters is character and teaching that. Not some magic thing and then your child acts that out and now it’s stuck in their minds. We have to be so careful what goes in there because the devil is a lion and ready to pounce. Cle is great we tried it but was so advanced for us and wayyyy too much book work and I had to mark out a lot and I didn’t like that. Scales back to good and beautiful mixed with masterbooks. We alternate between the two. That’s the beauty of homeschool we have. Masterbooks is all Bible based. Love it! I pray that you and your family are blessed with schooling!
Hello! I am a new homeschool mom and I was debating whether starting the yellow book or mcguffey readers for my “3rd grader”/8 year old for language arts. Would it make sense doing both of these or would that be an excessive amount of language arts?
I would probably stick with one for LA. If you wanted to incorporate both, you can use the Yellow Book for LA and use the McGuffey readers for extra reading practice/comprehension. ❤️
