LLATL (Learning Language Arts Through Literature) was first written 25 years ago when the daily use of card catalogs, encyclopedia’s and phone books were the norm. The new 3rd editions have been updated to reflect changes in the world and society around us. Also, because the books were written by two different authors over the span of four or five years, changes have been made to make the books more consistent and even easier to use.

What a beautiful way to use the curriculum! Teaching children. Teaching refugees. I love it. I hope to buy it.

Does my child have to use all three Gold books in high school or is one sufficient? Can I split it up over 11th and 12th because it looks like a lot of reading for my child? Can I use Gray book for 10th grade because I think that is where my child will be at that time? Do I need to add any formal writing programs or is this everything I need to prepare my child for college? Thank you so much!

Hi there, only one GOLD book from LLATL is used for 11th and 12th grade level of language. The way to select which one to use is to decide which version you prefer, be it British or American. Many students have done GOLD LLATL in prep for college and professors of language have looked at the GOLD LLATL and commented on how well it would prepare a student for tertiary education.
