Hi, I came across your video by chance and even though I'm an adult, dyscalculia is never far away. And what a great idea to include Pokémons! Mathematics immediately becomes more attractive to revise and your method is well explained. Thank you for that! 🌞

Mads, this is a super cool idea. I also have dyscalculia. Using the Pokémon to bring a comforting association with numbers to dyscalculic kids who have math trauma is brilliant. I think you have an opportunity to take the “analogy” a step further to teach dyscalculic kids the tens and hundreds and thousands places in bigger numbers. For instance- in your example 0 viktini 1 bulbasaur 2 ivysaur 3 venusaur 4 charmander 5 charmeleon 6 charizard 7 squirtle 8 wartortle 9 blastoise I wish it was possible to expand this set so that the 10’s place would be a grander evolution of each of those Pokémon. I wish it was as simple as using the first evolution of each one for the 10’s (20, 30, 40, 50, etc.) but I’m seeing that, for instance, #1, bulbasaur’s, first evolution is into #2, ivysaur, so my idea doesn’t really work when maintaining Pokémon cannon, as far as I know… at least not for this set of characters. Or maybe I just don’t know my lore well enough. Humor me- if you started with a different set of characters representing each number, is there an obvious pattern of evolution that would do what I was suggesting? Ideally each of the Pokémon representing core numbers 0-9 would each have an evolution that could accordingly represent the tens as described above, and also then have another evolution that could represent the 100’s (200, 300, 400, etc.) See what I mean? I’d love to see this idea evolve (pun intended) to become a teaching standard to help kids with dyscalculia! Cheers

Look at us talking about Pokemon and maths👏 well Absolutely! My point is that one can use Pokemon or whatever they want to and form it in any way they need or desire👍 Ofc I could absolutely make more videos about this and talk about it form different perspectives. This is what I want to inspire people to make their own learning tools, So it’s just a + to make more 😉 thank you for this suggestion, part two or part Ivysaur will eventually be made!🤩

thank you for this video. I have a hard time holding numbers in my head. if i had this growing up I believe i would have been way less confused and turned around.

Hello, your videos have helped me so much to understand my child who is on spectrum and has dyscalculia. She checks all the boxes - can't comprehend time, value , quantity, money ...its all too abstract for her. Also would like to know from you, can dyscalculia also affect the art skills. My child finds it so tough to get the proportions right, for example, if she's drawing a landscape, she would draw the person taller than the tree, or something like that. Drawing graphs etc is a challenge. Just want to know is this also coz of dyscalculia. Thanks :)

Glad to hear that you get value form my videos😁 dyscalculia can effect a persons. Spatial awareness is a part of dyscalculia, many find it difficult to navigate maps, cities etc. proportions, distance, depth also potentially shapes is a part of this. Ofc this is different for everyone 😁👍 her Art is simply a way for you to see her perception of the world. 😉 great question! I will make a video about this👍
