A complete tutorial video on making a luxury leather card wallet using chèvre leather. This is a beautiful leather to work with and it has been used by many of the luxury brands and for good reason.

I love the way you work, no over the top pricy tools where peasants like me wouldn't even dream to own one. No die cutting just simple sharp knives, irons and needles.

There's nothing wrong with die cutting for someone who has to make dozens of the exact same thing in order to ensure a roof and food.

I appreciate your videos.. I learnt alot. I made me first project out of leather. I used an old work boot, and made a scout carry knife sheath. I was trying to share a picture but it wouldn't let me.

Just got the pattern download. Excited to give this a shot. Notice you use the electric iron to finish the edges. I'm struggling with finishing the edges of thin leather. In place of the electric iron, maybe a short video on an alternative to finishing thin edges. Thanks again Terrick for doing these.

Awesome lesson my friend. I appreciate you taking the time and sharing your know how with us. Everything about what you do is done with a level of excellence from your leatherwork to your presentation and even your teaching. Thank you my friend. Thank you. Advice for anyone looking for the .PDF on the website: You're going to basically be purchasing the .PDF but don't worry it's a free purchase and you won't be charged any actual money. It's basically a purchase of $0.00 and I'm sure there's reasoning behind that. I found it easier to complete the purchase with my PayPal but I don't think it matters. Once you've completed the transaction you're automatically emailed the .PDF so don't bother looking for it yourself on the website. Just open up your email that you used for the purchase which was in my case the email I used for my PayPal. Also when you print the .PDF you should make sure that you're using the setting "Actual Size" instead of the default "Fit" setting under the PRINT SIZE & HANDLING options. Also to save yourself some paper I also suggest selecting the "Pages" option under PAGES TO PRINT options and simply typing "3" in the dialog box. That will avoid printing the first two pages of the .PDF which in my opinion weren't necessary to print unless you want the second page for the list of items needed. If you do want the second and third page included in the print simply type "2-3" in the dialog box. I do suggest printing in color if possible but honestly you could probably get by either way. Anyways. That's just my two cents. Hope it helps. Anyways. Thanks again friend. I appreciate it. I'll make sure to subscribe and give you a like.

I would finish the stitch line differently. Take your threads each one through one layer of leather to the inside and overhand knot them. The knot will disappear between the layers and not be seen. No need for sealer/glue etc.

Hello Terrick, I really like what you do, the extreme care you bring to your achievements. However, not everyone who is going to watch this video has any knowledge of how to handle the paring knife and may prune their fingertips if they leave them in front of the blade (11 '13 "). Our tools cut like razors and we are not allowed to make mistakes, so personally, I say never to let the fingers in front of the blade and prefer to hold them behind. Alain.

Ive watched people with bell skivers get their fingers far too close to the blade when feeding the leather too. Scary.

Beautiful work! I've been experimenting with Chèvre Chagrin as well. Two questions: 1) What is the weight of the Chèvre Chagrin you are using? 2) I noticed you didn't use an edge beveler prior to edge finishing. Why not? 3) Any noticeable difference in your opinion between Fil Au Chinois 532 and 632?

I’ve tried edge beveling it and it doesn’t look right. It’s such a temperamental leather.

Hi Terrick, where do you buy your pricking irons for fine leather? I have some from "Ivan" but the holes are too big for fine leathers.
@allanpennington
@allanpennington 4 года назад
WUTA make nice fine one which you can mark or go right through as the prongs are very tapered so it doesn't enlarge the hole too much on fine leather. Looks like Terrick was probably going through all layers with his pricking irons too but I see he still stitched with his awl. WUTA do obverse and reverse sets at the same price.See a good review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2rlOlWruCOA.html

Hi! Greetings from México! Quick question, the leather is veg tan?
@mattspriggs8851
@mattspriggs8851 4 года назад
Would you recommend a sealer at all, either a dubbin or acrylic. Have made my first 2 knife sheaths for a paying customer, and he wanted a plain veg tan finish. So unsure really, I did a coloured edge coat then applied a generous amount of dubbin, then polished it with a clean rag. The knives stay in his tucker box, so don't hang off belts or anything. He was wrapped with the products and didn't argue price. Is that something you would do or is there a better way? Taking into consideration that I have built my reputation in the upholstery game on turning out a product that will last. Cheers Spriggsy
@CHARTERMADE
@CHARTERMADE 4 года назад
I think you did just fine. On natural veg I use one of the premium beeswax balms and I do have a video on burnishing edges which is my preferred method for knife sheaths

maybe a dumb question, but: you mention ironing the pieces for increased workability/stiffness -- is this done with a special tool, or just a regular home/clothing iron? thanks.

Just a regular iron, place fabric over your leather and use a low-medium heat

this is great. im new to leather craft still confused about skiving leather.do i only do the sides or the whole leather lets say i have 2mm to 1.8 mm of leather to be used? thanks for any input
@CHARTERMADE
@CHARTERMADE 4 года назад
Skiving is to thin edges. On a wallet I skive around 8mm from the edge but this also depends on the thickness of the leather and the taper I need.
@madbull2124
@madbull2124 4 года назад
@@CHARTERMADE thats the part im confused about. if i only skived 8mm from the edges.the middle part would still be bulky right? my ocd is giving headache about this. thank you for giving the time to answering this. your vids are realy helpfull
@CHARTERMADE
@CHARTERMADE 4 года назад
@@madbull2124 On thin leather like I used in this project (1.2mm )its fine. Its so project and staring leather depending but I would suggest starting with thinning by 1/3 and see how you like. Also I skive at a taper to thin edges. The best way to learn this is to make something and then get a visual of how it all comes together.
