Thank you everyone as always for stopping by. In this video I am super excited to show you all yet another storage option for your pieces, this time around from the Royal Chess Mall is a Leatherette Coffer Storage Box that has been on my radar for quite some time until I finally decided to get it for my Cook Chess set. In this video I also show you how other chess sets like the Dubrovnik, the Turin and the Modena Chess pieces fit in this storage box so be sure to watch to the end. As always, thank you everyone for giving this video your time and attention.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the walled, unpadded coffers!! The one with form-fitting foam is WAY better for protecting your investment! I recently got the French Chavet pieces in antiqued and ebonized boxwood with 3.9 in. (98 mm) kings from Royal Chess Mall India and I couldn't imagine storing those bad boys in anything else!!

Thanks for this, very helpful trying to figure out what box to buy for my first "nice" set of pieces.

In a different video, I liked your idea of a pistol case to offer protection for your chess pieces. You have foam, top and bottom. And if you can find a case big enough, you can get complete protection for your chess pieces. Brilliant.

I am a portrait photographer but learned lighting from the stand point of how light works. The closer the light is to the camera the less shadow and the less texture is revealed. Think draw a circle on a piece of paper, ie it looks flat, like on camera axis light. Take the side of the pencil and shade one side of the circle, like moving the light off camera axis say 45 degrees and you have a bal, it now has shape. Most folks understand that. They understand the larger the modifier, umbrella or soft box, the softer the shadow edge transition. Think hard edge shadows from full sun, soft on cloudy days. But what tells the brain what the item feels like, it's surface efficiency, is the specular highlight (reflection of the light) edge transition. Flash light on shiny car, hard edged specular edge transfer tell us it is super smooth. Same flash light on velour and the spec highlight edge transition is slow and the brain interprets that as more textured. So if they shot one with only a large soft box on camera axis, it may look smooth but moving the light off camera, more form and if a small light is added, it will reveal the texture. All of these are matters of inches when adjusting. A similar chess box came with my Chess bazaar St Petersburg set and it has really large and curved manes on the knights and a point for the kings finial. It looks like they formed the foam to each piece so they fit snugly all the way around, a perfect fit.

Wow, that is very interesting! Thanks for sharing! Light control is a very crucial aspect in these videos and working around the limitations of certain light sources has always been a challenge for me!

How do you find your affiliate links for HOS? I think you should always post all of your affiliate links on the bottom of all your videos descriptions so they're easier to find for your viewers. Also, you have great content please keep it up!

Thanks a lot Rick! I have to pull the affiliate links out from a separate platform that generates them for me for the specific item! I agree with you that having affiliate links for every video makes sense, it might just feel odd if the video reviews other items.

Too bad the one I got from them smelled like gasoline!
