I've been following livecam for about a year (on the side on another monitor, not on the main monitor) and it feels like there's always something going on there. At least it doesn't look boring. Although I'm from Switzerland and the Alps are much bigger, Leavenworth looks much nicer (forests are much denser). In winter there is significantly more snow and colder -5 to -10 degrees Celsius and much more extreme. In summer it is significantly warmer, around +5 to +10 degrees Celsius (weather is also being tracked). (Yes, I know that the lake effect played a major role this year, but there was plenty of snow last year too.) The autumn is much warmer and not hardcore wet as in switzerland. The lighting and Christmas spirit is also significantly stronger. In Europe, almost nothing is decorated except for the occasional Christmas tree in the shopping malls. Halloween is hardly ever celebrated in Europe, and certainly not Thanksgiving, except for the German version of Harvest Thanksgiving and Oktoberfest. But that's not really celebrated. I also noticed that, especially in autumn, carriages drive around, also certain ones, as in Europe would call "Fasnacht". Houses don't look so one-sidedly box-like (see lowland Switzerland, not the alpine houses). Also, the explosive rise in house prices in the US and inflation and the declining reality of "American Dream" there are hopefully sure prospects (in few years). In any case, my goal is to move out to Leavenworth and pay taxes there. As soon as I have completed my apprenticeship as a computer scientist in application development and the technical college (Fachhochschule) behind me, I will definitely think about it. I'm lucky that Fabasoft (4teamwork), where I work, is location-independent and many of our employees already live in the USA, Germany, Austria etc. (with a Swiss salary :D) and the company is only interested in income. "Someday!"
