Thank you so much for this! I just started the semester up again as an adjunct, and I found this book while debating on a total career switch. Naturally, I don't have a lot of extra reading time, and so this was extremely helpful. I love my field(s) and the university setting, but I don't think it makes sense to continue. (Although, I do not wish to pursue corporate work. I would love to read a version of this book with an author who pursued trades, or public service careers.) Similarly, I would love to hear perspectives from other first-gen college graduates.

Thanks for your message! Totally understandable, all that you say. That is a shame for folks to be pushed out, but it's just too difficult of a life as an adjunct. Corporate is definitely a different culture. The trades would be great, and so much in need. It seems that my local company is offering training and sign on bonuses for new workers and to gain an applicable skill is admirable to me. And definitely it seems first-gen students is the topic of several books. Best to you for the semester.
