Leaving Caitlin Clark Off The Women’s Olympic Team Is The Dumbest Thing I’ve Ever Heard Follow me here: Facebook: / stoolpresidente Twitter: / stoolpresidente Instagram: / stoolpresidente Tik Tok: www.tiktok.com...
@@Paramount1939 Stop being disingenuous. Not near enough people are watching it. That’s the point. That’s why the WNBA has never made a dime, can’t afford increased salaries/amenities, and would have folded long, long ago if not for the charity of the men’s league subsidizing it for the past 27 years. What other sports league or business gets 27 years of subsidized support? The reason people like Portnoy are annoyed and disgusted is because as soon as the WNBA has an opportunity to build off the sudden interest in the women’s basketball the past 15 months or so (because of Caitlin Clark) they are seemingly doing whatever they can to blow the opportunity. Circling back to your stupid “people watch maybe just not you” comment - not enough people are watching or attending games to make it grow or even self-sustain. They have their first legit shot to change that sitting right in front of them. Apparently you are just as blind as they are and can’t see the forest for or through the trees.
NBC shouldn't show one game ...not one .......the money lost for them? Lead a boycott of the BB games if not the whole Olympics ........ you are the one who could do it ....... I know this.... I'm boycotting all of it .... Opening Ceremonies.... the whole stinkin thing ..........
@@MichaelMiner-k8bthey are much better players. Tell me what Clark does better. Can't be shooting cuz she's been putting up dookie percentages in the wnba.
You’re the embarrassment. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know Caitlin’s not ready. She had 10 turnovers in her WNBA debut. She’s had at least 5 turnovers in 8 of her first 12 professional games. She ain’t ready. Bulk up, tighten her handles and - please, oh please - play some defense, and in 4 years, she can join the Olympic team when we host it. Learn your hoops.
@@larrybaxter3183 I have more basketball knowledge in my pinky than you have coursing through your body. And anyone who uses the word “haters” is clearly someone who shouldn’t be taken seriously…
@@chengsio2639 … the game I saw showed CC hitting her teammates in the hands but they were not able to control the ball and there were counted as turnovers against CC.
No. According to yall, she the only one you look at. So get her a circus tent and let her tour around during the Olympics! Let’s this bozo in the video pay for it. Great investment, right? Let go you delusional clowns
If she was black, it would be non stop showering with compliments and accolades. Since she is a white girl in a black dominated sport, they get super butt hurt.
Y'all seem to misunderstand how the Olympics work. It's supposed to be the best players, popularity has zero to do with it. Their personal feelings or yours are also irrelevant. Right now, Griner is a much better player than Clark the rookie is now. One day Clark will probably be much better, but right now, it's not close.
@@nickv4073 yeah u jack tons of shots up you'll definitely get there. She leads the league in turnovers to go along with those assists. And her shooting percentage is like 34% that's freaking awful
@@mariogiresi6792bro Caitlin Clark is good I’m not hater but she’s get locked by randoms in the wnba every other game averages 4 to 5 turnovers Olympic tier defense would eat her alive. And also all of the other point guards and shooting guards on the Olympic roster all outperform her look up the stats for yourself. And also there are 4 white players on the Olympic roster so I don’t want to hear no victim mentality.
Laetner at that time was better than Shaq coming out of college and widely more popular. But even Laetner himself said he shouldn’t have been on the team.
“The Shot” made Laettner a media darling, and they were smart enough to capitalize on that, unlike the morons who chose this women’s team! Unfortunately the Twolves bought in and took him with their first round pick.
I am a Caitlin Clark fan from Europe and I was looking forward to seeing her here in summer. Really a stupid decision. Even newspapers in GERMANY were mentioning today that she won't be playing in the Olympics. She already has fans from all over the world. I even got the WNBA league pass solely because of her, although I cannot watch every game (they are starting in the middle of the night European time).
@@Anonymous-er9bv I agree. Diana T is definitely not deserving from a performance standpoint. But there are other perimeter players whose game is ahead of CC now.
Chelsea Gray is injured for months yet shes on the team. Taurasi is 50 years old yet she made the Olympic team as a rookie. They're just envious and are filled with hatred. The Olympics coach has already been hating on Clark ever since she got into the WNBA
Don’t be dramatic. Taurasi has 5 gold medals and veteran leadership; she’s an automatic roster bid, just like Carmelo Anthony was for Men’s basketball. Gray was a top 5 PG last year and will be healthy soon
Taurasi has better shooting stats than CC even for this season. Why should CC be picked before Taurasi?? CC has to earn it, not be given it. Everyone doesn't get a participation trophy for the olympics!!!! Don't me started with Griner ...she hates America ...before she got arrested in Russia. She shouldn't be on the team. She doesn't deserve it. She gave that up when she refused to stand for the anthem.
Caitlin Clark had 10 turnovers in her WNBA debut. She’s had at least 5 turnovers in 8 of her first 12 professional games. She ain’t ready. Bulk up, tighten her handles and - please, oh please - play some defense, and in 4 years, she can join the Olympic team when we host it. Learn your hoops.
How you don’t put the biggest name in womens basketball and with out question the most talked about athlete on the planet right now on the team is a mindfuck!
@@brianchamberlain7422 Between now and Paris, yes, she would be a liability. Who is she clearly better than? If you can’t name 4 players that she’s clearly better than, then what is she going to do besides waving a towel at the end of the bench? In 4 years, if she cleans up her game, she’ll be an Olympian…
@@RobVole1 And let’s continue winning by NOT letting someone who hasn’t earned her way be on the team. That’s a deserving gold medal you’re taking away from someone else by giving Caitlin Clark a roster spot.
I suspected that perhaps the cheap shot on Clark and the ensuing controversy was a marketing ploy to get even more viewers for the WNBA, rather than the league women's basketball not wanting Clark. Now I guess they just want to kill their golden goose before any of her golden eggs have even hatched. She would be better off playing abroad and just quitting the WNBA now. Seems like that is what US women's basketball would prefer she do.
The Old School Players and Coaches can’t stand that a Straight, White, Girl from Iowa might be better and more Likeable/Popular than they are… We watch sports to get away from this Political BS. I understand why in the Past people would stay away from the WNBA… What’s the WNBA’s Policy on Random Drug Testing? Why would the USA 🇺🇸 select someone who tried to bring Drugs into Russia 🇷🇺 and went to Jail for it?
Yep I think it is 75% jealousy and 25% anti-white anti-straight bigotry. Of course if she was a black lesbian there would be zero jealousy so I guess it is 100% bigotry.
Mystics game last night tells you everything you have to know. Had to move it to the wizards 20k seat arena from the mystics 4.5k arena and it sold out in 30 minutes. So stupid to not have her on
I truly feel that the NBA players should cut their financial support to the WNBA by 50% with an annual review to determine if the WNBA deserves it to be loosened. Also, get an impartial committee to give final approval to the WNBA’s Olympic & All-Star selections to weed out blatant prejudiced selections.
Dave you're crazy. Just because she can attract 20000+ screaming fans to a game with an 0-10 team and a visiting 2-9 team, just because she is the all-time leading college scorer ever, just because besides scoring she is a true all-around player ( stat line from last night was ridiculous ), just because more than anyone else probably she can make other good players even better with her dishing after attracting double teams, DAT JUST AINT WHATS IMPORTANT.
CC needs rest and recovery time from the brutal schedule that the Eva’s had for the WNBA. She needs physical and emotional time off. I think bigger issue is having Griner on team after her statements regarding this Country.
@@phillipsjuan3871idk what you talking about but Caitlin Clark averages oniy 15 points on okayish efficiency while averaging 4/5 turnovers. She also recently just dropped 7 points shooting 3/11 from the field with 7 turnovers she ain’t Olympic ready.
Clark can definitely be one of the best players in WNBA history one day. But she isn't yet. She's a rookie, nowhere near the best female play in the WNBA right now. Not even close. No rookie ever will be. She's by far the most popular and lots of potential. But that has nothing to do with who's supposed to be picked for the Olympics.
@@melrandall3605 are you claiming the current US roster is the 12 best players?? That’s objectively not true. Rookies have been selected before that shouldn’t matter.
The goal is to win the gold medal. At 22, Caitlin Clark leads the WNBA in turnovers and inefficiency. How can she worthy of a roster spot when she turns the ball over so much?
@Zenigundam it's the 5eam she plays on. They don't move when she is doubled teamed. She is the only player in the league getting double teamed. A bunch of her turnovers are from her teammates that can't catch a ball. It will hit boston in her hands she drops it, but the turnover is on clark.
That’s what it’s about. He said showcase their talent ( the whole USA TEAM) if she’s on it - regardless of skill, which I’m sure she would be fine, the attention the team would garner is 10 folds, then without her.
Neither are Taurasi or Grenier. Also, how would she perform surrounded by elite players, I promise you she would lead them in scoring. Everyone is assessing Clark when she is literally playing with a horrible team. Constantly being doubled, face guarded, pressed. You wouldn’t be able to do that with great teammates.
Heres a little secret, they have her as a reserve. The point guard they have on the usa team has an injury... Caitlin will make the team last minute for drama. Its a brilliant marketing strategy!!
Arike Ogunbowale at the very least should be on this team, don't pander. Caitlin needs rest, unless you want her to be spent for the rest of the season
@Dave Portnoy i agree so stupid i have seen online there are over 20k people that are not going to watch that's like keep Jordan off the Dream team Clown move
When the 2024 draft was over I was ready to predict the WNBA was finally on it's way to get recognition like it never had before. Caitlin Clark had everyone in the Country excited about her joining the League (with a few other very worthy first round picks) and at the same time I warned everyone the League had a lot to do to improve their image and the playing conditions for all the players. That included travel considerations, creating schedules that are reasonable, planning a profit sharing program with the players so they can begin to receive their share of the revenue and continue to bring all the games to viewers wherever they are from. There's only 12 teams (right now) and the public should be able to see any game they want to no matter who is playing. Lastly, before the League turns into a Roller Derby the officials need to start calling ridiculous fouls which are not being called. These are the greatest women basketball players in the world and need to play the game with an element of finesse. Playing the game 'under the rim' is beautiful to watch but not with collisions occurring on every play. Olympics? If you pay someone to play for you do you want to take the chance of them getting hurt in an amateur game? Be honest. I wouldn't want to. I wonder if Clark was asked if she would want to play for the USA in the Olympics.? After this season she needs a long vacation and start getting ready for the next season. Don't be so quick to blame her exclusion from the team on the League and/or the Olympic Committee. Sure, the Pro's can play. There are pro leagues in South America, Australia, Europe, Asia, etc., and all of them will be allowing pro players to represent them in the Games. It will definitely be interesting to see how much the world has caught up to the USA in regards to the quality of players. Question: Did you have the 17-1 shot in the Belmont? Lots of people went home very sad because they had to watch the 11 horse get caught at the wire!
But here you are…that’s why. People like you that are racist and don’t like her follow her every step…like you. I know it’s difficult for you to understand with those blinders.
Ok no it all CC is only the third player EVER in the wnba to score 150 pts, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists in her first 10 games all while dealing with racist scum.
Yes they couldn’t care less because they are being subsidized by the NBA. If the NBA stopped supporting them maybe they would start thinking about how to survive and make good financial decisions.
I agree she should be on the team but the team already Qualified when she was in College. It’s okay CC don’t care she’s a baller she don’t need bro’s defended her like shut up 😂
Cause there not the Jordan everyone wants to see cc not them so there hurt if cc was black and got done like this it would be a uproar blm be lining up outside NAACP y'all would be screaming racist boycott NBA so yeah it's because she white and the one who ever brought light for the wnba even be talking about just cause she's white wnba players don't want to except it she's Jordan in your league why I say Jordan cause Jordan brought the NBA up they even changed rules for him cause he was bringing so much money to the league that shows there jealousy stupidity cause they rather lose money millions of billions of dollars than except she's the Jordan
100% correct Dave. Bang On. Let’s say she wasn’t even good enough to make it - which clearly she is - she’s one of the only players people care about and got caught up in her story. This is one of the stupidest business moves of all time. Someone from the WNBA or Nike call in a favour and get her on the team.
Ummm the 84 was all college players. I would agree about Caitlyn if she was left off an Olympic comprised of college athletes. But concerning your example Michael Jordan would not have been good enough to make an NBA Olympic team in 1984.
ALL I HEAR! All I hear is entitlement from certain people. The US Olympic basketball team is usually made up of SEASONED pros for both men and women's team. Caitlin Clark is like comparing Michael Jackson to Taylor Swift. MJ NEVER Sung any MEDIOCRE Taylor Swift songs but Taylor Swift sung MJ's songs in her earlier concerts. Caitlin has NEVER Played against tough black women until she got into the WNBA. Caitlin was told this by some of the black female player both college and professional players. So the video showed what was is store for her as she was knocked on her butt and everybody started crying about it. This is the big leagues so Caitlyn pull up your grown up league pants and say bye bye to your college diapers. The Olympics is about winning and not about Caitlyn's popularity. Also Caitlyn NEVER Played against any of those HBCU teams. A lot of the WNBA Women came from HBCU teams. So people stop the entitlement nonsense and one person doesn't make a whole team.
Leaving Clark off the team is okay if you have a bunch of great players who are better. To leave her off and take Taurasi is a joke. DT was washed up three years ago and absolutely no one would turn in to watch her play. Then you have Griner who hasn't played all season too. Whoever picked this team left off the best player in the world right now and the losers are the ladies that would have gotten to play with a person of her talent. She gets very little help on the Fever but even last night she looked great when they gave her a sliver of light.
We can agree she’s talented. But can we agree she’s flawed? She doesn’t play defense because she never had to at Iowa. Her handles are weak. She had 10 turnovers in her professional debut and has 5 or more in 8 of her first 12 games. And as for that sliver of light you mentioned, that’s what great defenses do. Championships and gold are won on defense (See Griner, Brittney), not offense.
Unfortunately sir you're dead wrong she didn't make the cut because the coach and players aren't familiar with her not to mention overseas basketball especially women's 🏀is more physical she definitely has the skills to make the team but the Olympic team always takes physicality and experience over just skills.
You couldn't have said it any better, Dave. I was going to watch the US Women's Olympic Team. If she had been chosen to play, I'm definitely disappointed that she's not, so i'm not going to watch it now. I'm not a fan now. But you said it perfectly, Dave. Keep on what you're doing. You're the best. Everybody knows the rules 🍕 😂
The WNBA heterophobia from the top down ... they hate men except the ones writing checks to cover 27 years of failure .. over all this is a good thing for Clark she doesn't have to be around that toxic group .. and she has some time for herself .. the fever better make sure they make the correct decisions with her and that team .. they have a gift
I think the other players that were picked told them if CC is on the team then I’m not gonna play this is only because CC will show them all up of how good she is compared to them
😂😂😂 Aja Wilson's last 5 games 29pts 15 reb 29pts 15 reb 21pts 13 reb 22pts 10 reb 30pts 13 reb Please actually know the sport before making a statement that's not even close to being true
They went the easy coaching route by picking mini-teams -- 4 LV Aces , 3 Phoenix Mercury, 2 NY Liberty and 1 each from Connecticut, Minnesota, and Seattle. I doubt the Olympic committee is worried about their bottom line, but the network should be. As far as the WNBA goes (and I don't know how much influence they had on the Olympic decision), this is what happens when an organization is subsidized. Most businesses do not have the luxury of ignoring opportunities for growth or improvement because they could not survive otherwise. The NBA should have a timeline for the WNBA to be self-sustaining. Maybe then the WNBA would be more receptive to their customer base. Frankly, it is puzzling that a women's league is satisfied relying on a men's league to prop them up.
I have nothing against women in general...but I have seen it countless times where they will do the most awlful things in a work place to another women.....to men they will just go to the police and make up some story that never happened and yes I seen that too and nothing happen to the woman but the hate between women to women in any work place is real and will never go away....EVER

Your best point is inarguable. USA women's basketball has a historically dismal viewership rating during the Olympics. Clark on the team would skyrocket viewership AND INTEREST! The WNBA needs to quadruple their fanbase if they want to get paid. This Olympic team could have had the entire country riveted to USA basketball.
I so hope Caitlin inevitably leaves the wnba soon and goes to the big 3. Wnba isn't serious about basketball or being a real competitive league, so f*ck em. The league would continue imploding and costing the nba millions. It'd be a beautiful middle finger to the establishment that apparently doesn't want her
