That particular aspect wasn’t luck, but everything around it that even allowed him to have a shot in the first place was luck. LeBron had to score 16pts in the 4th quarter. Duncan had to be out of the game. Manu had to pursue the rebound. Manu had to fall. The rebound had to come to Bosh. Bosh had to have the vision to see Ray Allen. The pass from Bosh to Allen had to be clean and undeflected. Then, and only then, can Ray’s work ethic be meaningful in that moment.

As a lifelong Spurs fan, a treat to hear the Spurs come up multiple times in this podcast. Want to expand more on something most don't really know about, that 2017 Spurs team. The Kawhi injury in the 2017 playoffs was such a devastating injury. The 2017 Spurs are one of the biggest "what-if" teams from this century... a team with a truly dominant star in Kawhi, a perfect number 2 in LaMarcus Aldridge, and perfect role players with one of the best coaches of all time at the top. Kawhi had truly ascended to the conversation of best player in the league, and unless you watched the games, you could not understand just how dominant he was. Defensively, he could shut down an entire side of the court himself when he was off the ball due to his anticipation, long arms/hands, quickness, and instincts, and then on-ball he was another monster. Truly a marvel. Then offensively, he was just so efficient, he was almost too unselfish. 28/8/5 on 53/46/93 splits while playing alongside Tony Parker, Manu, Danny Green, Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, Patty Mills... The Spurs could compete with anyone and had the wing defenders to keep up with the Warriors. Game 1, we are up 19 with 2 free throws on the way and Zaza Pachulia makes one of the dirtiest plays in NBA history, intentionally stepping under Kawhi (playing on an already injured ankle) and injuring him, knocking him out the rest of the series. Spurs end up losing game 1... but if Kawhi doesn't get injured Spurs most likely win Game 1 on the road and we will never know what could've been. A real shame.
@KingGregory27
@KingGregory27 Месяц назад
It’s such a shame, but I feel like Kawhi beating that same team on the Raptors after KD & Klay got injured was sports karma. I wish they dived in deeper. Lebron scored 16 in the 4th to lead the comeback, hit the 3 right before Ray when it looked like all hope was lost. Lebron played a great 4th quarter but had 2-3 terrible turnovers in last 2 minutes which was almost too much to overcome. Nevertheless he hits the 3 before Ray and misses the tying one but Bosh and Ray did everything perfectly to tie it up. Ray practiced that shot every day he said - SPECIFICALLY without looking down. Ray said ''what if once I wont have time to look down? All the clutch shots, game winners all lead up to that one moment. '' Ray Allen Game 6 shot and Kyrie Game 7 shot are quite literally the one of the most clutch shots in finals/NBA history. The gravity of both those shots is hard to put into words

It's impossible to tell what would've happened with Tim on the court but Miami downsized, so San Antonio had to as well in order to switch and guard the 3 on the perimeter. We can debate if it was the right move but by no means was it dumb.
@Dk-kz1vy
@Dk-kz1vy Месяц назад
He had to because Miami needed a 3, and had nothing but 3 point shooters out there. Tim would have been unable to keep up and would have left someone open for a uncontested 3. Which is statistically worse then giving up an offensive rebound

What LEBRON did in that 4th quarter before is what made that RAY ALLEN shot even possible to happen. Lebron James scored 12 of his game-high 32 points during the fourth quarter of Game 6 after removing his headband on his way to one of the 10 triple-doubles he’s notched during an NBA Finals game. In doing so, he helped erase the 10-point lead that Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker built heading into the final period. Along with his prolific performance from a scoring standpoint, LeBron also dished out a game-high 11 assists to go along with 10 rebounds. The next highest assist-man on the night was Parker with eight for the Spurs and only Duncan had more rebounds (17). James would also add a block on Timmy late in the fourth quarter that proved critical. . So YES, RAY ALLEN's shot was definitely the most important shot of the game, BUT !!!, that shot would have no way to even EXIST, if LEBRON did not put on that extraordinary SUPER HUMAN performance in that 4th QUARTER right before that shot. With that being said, people like to say "RAY ALLEN'S SHOT SAVED LEBRON LEGACY" !!!! Well, it also can be said that LEBRON'S CRAZY GREAT 4TH QUARTER PERFORMANCE ALSO SAVED RAY ALLEN's LEGACY AS WELL

@@PayAttEx No, it wasn't luck at all. LeBron can't have it both ways. If he claims to be Mr. Basketball IQ, as he does, then he was smart enough to know that Draymond was close to getting suspended and baited him right into the foul. And, of course, Draymond was dumb enough to take the bait. Where LeBron was lucky was that Draymond already had all those technicals coming into the series, otherwise, no way Cleveland wins that series. And yes, @Tay04723, GS was lucky too that everyone was injured in Cleveland in 2015. Definitely helped them.
