I really respect you guys for not putting knowledge behind a paywall. It'd be super easy for you to say "If you don't understand how any of this works, go buy my LEDs book." The fact that you make the book a wonderful and helpful accessory to the video says a lot about your love for the community.
I really like the way you and Benni explain things that are usually so scary like coding and 3D design, it makes me feel so inspired like "yes, I can do this! I believe in me because Svetlana and Benni believe in us all!"
It is incredible when you realize that to be a prop maker you need to know everything. EVERYTHING! work with foam, paint, carpentry, work with leather, sculpture, design, tailoring, electronics, programming and source code, 3d modeling programs, and etc, etc, etc. You have to have many skills and be good at all of them. Amazing!
You don't need to know any of this at all. Just what makes you happy. If you want to make cosplay for other people, or write books on cosplay - you should know some of these things.
I was disappointed sheet didn't made the "buy my book" Running gag till I saw the dress at the very last moment when she made it obvious😂😂 Very subtle, you got me
Only last week I discussed this topic with a couple of friends and my sister, and we had no idea how to master 3 different animations with one circuit. Do you read minds?
As an electronics hobbyist, I think this is cool and I know it will work perfectly. As someone who was previously certified in precision soldering by NASA in 1999, I'm completely horrified. Great video!
@@jeremyortiz2927 Til the day I sold it at least. No way I'd go near a circuit board though. Next time I'm bored I'll have to look up the proper way to solder.
@@johnhobson9165 Knowing seems a bit of an overstatement for cobbling 2 library examples together :P but i guess having the will to approach this kind of stuff from zero is already a feat^^
This "buy my books!" whimsical advertisment is getting me happier and happier with time, lol! It's such a fun moment, each time! I AM buying those books! (but please continue advertising them, it's just so fun, lights up my day! ^^)
I accidentially red 'Buy my Boo*s' when quickly looking at that text and was pretty confused. Time to buy some glasses before focusing on the book, I think.
Thats actually Li-On battery you're using, Li-Po requires different charger with balancer, and overall is pretty dangerous to use since any short or damage to the battery can set it on fire in an instant. Just saying, so noone buys a Li-Po by mistake ( even though theres a safe Li-On in the links ) and burns down their house. Cheers, video is great and helpfull as always, great work :D
Ahhh thanks so much for that comment !! :D for reasons the Link with the battery doesnt really work for me, so I was about to look for the right one or a similar one
Brilliant video, all of your videos are very well explained and you make this look achievable! Thank you for these videos, you’re a great help to the cosplay community!!! :)
Can I just say that her "Buy my books" signs have become my favorite part of her videos? I can? GOOD! XD I feel like it's "Where's waldo?" at this point but it doesn't take long to find out.
If I'll have enough resources, skill and sanity, I'll definitely make this pulsing effect for my Bwonsamdi costume (the poor guy already needs a complete overhaul)
Oh gosh I needed this. I'm about to start making some horns for my demonic Mad Burnish group and I wanted to make my first foam pieces glow! But also give it a crawling, fiery effect. Def buying the rest of the books later that I didn't get in the recent Humble Bundle.
hiii, so the website has replaced a lot of products listed in this video and i was wondering if anyone could provide alternative updated components? thanks :)
This tutorial was really helpful. I was planning a legendary cosplay for November but decided to postpone the build, cause the con might be cancelled on concern for Victoria’s Au second wave, but i was wondering how could i install lights easily
Thanks for some more lighting tutorials! Have bought your Advanced LED book and can't wait to get started putting LEDs into our own cosplays! You make it look so easy though I am sure when we start it won't be as simple as that.
I love this. What a wonderful tutorial!! I am continually amazed and ecstatic over the amount of love and precision that goes into the cosplays created and shared on this channel.
Amazing work. So very professional of you. I wonder if someone like Glenn Hetric or Vi Neilson would be interested in hiring you. They are special effect artists in makeup for movies and also have to make their own props at times. They were on the SyFy show: "Face Off". I have Glenn on my Facebook feed. I'm gonna link this video to him! I just thought of that.
FYI: The code on your website doesn't compile, because the first line is missing the complete include for the adafruit neopixel header :) Other than that, amazing video!
You pretty much nailed it. The only thing I would think of doing, is.. Create Adafruit project boxes, by mounting the trinket system in project boxes. you can mount the charging plug, programming socket, switches, etc neatly into their own boxes. That way if you need say an 8 plug project box, you pick that one out, drop the program to it, then plug it in. Of course this means you will have a number or pre mounted trinket boxes ready to go, but.. It makes it easy and quick.
Svetlana and Benni, thank you so much for your amazing videos and books! I have bought and read both of your cosplay lighting books, and I've watched all of your videos, but the thing I still don't understand is how to improvise on my own. So, for instance, if I don't buy the exact microcontroller board you're using for a project, how do I know what wires go where? Similarly, if I want to go to the Arduino library, how do I know what code to use and how to edit it? I was wondering if you might consider making a "basic navigation" video where you show us how to mix and match.
I have a (probably really dumb) question. Are these boards already pre-programmed,or do I need to use the Auduino board to program it? I admit, I'm a little confused. I bought the two LED books, but I'm still a little confused, lol. OOH! and which Arduino board would I use? They don't sell the Uno anymore
6:47 Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the 20mA per LED is only for non-addressable LED strips as they are rated at a peak of 60mA per each 3 LED segment. However for addressable LEDs, each LED has a theoretical peak of 60mA per LED.
huh.. Adafruit platform code uses the ; to end lines, is it C based liek C#, C/C++ or Java? also how are you getting the light shine through on the plastics? are they paintred plastics? or where they printed that way?
I think you can use both as "Arduino" from the IDE, but they are based on different chips (depending on version of the trinket), so for in depth differences you'd probably have to check out the datasheets :x
Thank you! I started to watch on realistic cosplay (from real materials and real weight) and wanted to know how to do that light and smoke/light effects of armor from WOW.
I was thinking about making darth nihilus lightsaber the handle only needs one LED but the laser part needs more and thats not really a problem but i was also thinking about making the saber so i could separate the laser part from the handlejust wondered if you think thats a good idea??😅
I'm planning to make a godzilla costume, in with his dorsal plates, inside of the mouth and parts of the neck glows with led when pressing a button, can you give me any idea of what to use and how? I want to put the button in the hand so that I could turn it on when closing my hand copying when godzilla closes his hands to charge the atomic beam. Could you help me?
Adafruit product works but are expensive. I would recommend at least, to buy the neopixel from aliexpress. It's the same quality for half the price. Look for Individual Addressable LED strip.
