Add fairy lights on the top side of the large round disk. That would make the disk float off the ceiling.

I worked at an electronics manufacture for a while and we used an eye bolt in a drill to twist wires together. It worked great. Nice project.

Those fairy lights are great. You can use one of the coin cells to check polarity, they only need 3 v. They put two coin cells in series, 6 v, with the batteries limiting the current. The lights work well with a Joule Thief, an oscillator circuit that will drive them off a single 1.5v battery down to 0.8v. I use a few to use up AAs and even D cells that are "dead" in remotes and elsewhere but still have a few days of life for one of these strings. A fresh D cell with a Joule Thief will run one of those strings for about 6 weeks.

Really cute idea! I think the only thing I may have done differently was to recess the center screw and then slip a plug in so the screw head is hidden. 6:45 But, super project!

That is really lovely for lights and I may attempt something like that since I have worked with and soldered Led lights before but for a contract, not my home. I used to make mascots and made a Sonic head for a DJ with 2 fans built in to keep him cool and a strip of Led's around the eyes and it looked awesome! Luckily I have a good electronic shop near me but some of the people working there are just salesmen and do not know their products, so it was a bit of trial and error for me, but it all worked out well :) and I think I know more than some of them about Led lights now lol
